Oh Mildred dressed up from time to time. April 18th... yes! I still can't get over the fact that they're wasting a precious commentary on the horrid Steele In The Chips. I know SZ co-write it but blech. It will be amusing though to hear the commentary and see if either Gleason or SZ admits it stinks. Probably not since they're also doing a featurette on it.

Hurrah!! What a thrill to know that Season 3 will be released on DVD in April! Of course, the #1 question on all of our minds is . . . did they purchase the rights for the original Tony Bennett songs for "St. Trying"! ? I'm glad SZ is doing a commentary on "Chips". The secret to enjoying the episode is just to accept it as a fun slapstick show. It's not one of my favorites, but it always makes me laugh. I'm still disappointed they didn't use SZ and RB's original script with the aphrodisiac cookies subplot. Maybe she'll talk about that in her commentary. I'm very disappointed they're not doing a commentary on "St. Trying" or "St. Your Heart Away", however. Seems like it would be a no-brainer to commentate (is that a word?) those episodes. I actually like the cover this time!! Debra

I just find it very hard to enjoy Steele in The Chips except for the slapstick chase scenes. The character & relationship stuff is very poor. And why would SZ actually write her character ever having sex with someone as nauseatingly repugnant and sleazy and Clay Pratt. Yuch. The aprodisiac cookies would ahve made far more sense and maybe explained some of the goofy behaviour better.
As for other episodes that would have deserved commentary more, Steele At It, Steele Your Heart Away, Steele Trying, Steel of Approval, and even Have I Got A Steele For You would have been so much better.

I do like the cover, too, although I still think PB shouldn't be in front with SZ and DR in the rear. They should be all together like in several old photos I have. No one stands out more than the other -- I'm not talking looks, either. Oh how wonderful it would be to have commentary on the episodes mentioned, Ace. They were great fun. In fact, Season Three has always been one of my favorites (I loved the location episodes), right up there with the first season. Thanks for the link, Ceeg.

I just received the email and I came here to spread the news, but CG beat me to it. Nevertheless I'm thrilled. What a wonderful piece of news! And man, do I like the picture of Pierce on this cover.

Mildred did dress up from time to time and she wore even more jewelry when going out with the Count ( ) but those earrings do look photoshopped. I wonder why - she looked good enough without them. All things considered, it's a nice cover. And considering the quality of Season 1 commentaries, which I've finally just listened to, I don't care what episodes have them. Maybe SZ will add something more interesting than "great scene, great lightening, marvelous job, ha-ha, I forgot about this scene!"

This is great news and I'm so looking forward to have the third season on DVD. I like the cover art but would prefer it this way with the three of them in front. Edit: It's already to pre-order!

There's too much hair taking up space in that photo for a cover. I really like the new cover, especially because I love the new photo of Pierce since he looks sooo Steele in it with his "thinking" finger postiioning, raised eyebrow and smirk.

Those who don't have Season 2 yet, can buy both seasons from Amazon at $10 off - best online deal so far.

Again with the 2 for minus $10 deal. This is almost tempting enough to forgo buying Steele #3 until #4/5 comes out because Amazon will then be selling those two grouped in the same deal. And if it was like last time it might even be less with the older seasons temporarily lowereed to $19.99 Almost but not quite tempting enough. I have to have it this week!

Great picture Ace! Good news, the Tony Bennett songs are included on the episode Steele Trying contained in the new season three DVD set. GREAT news. Thanks for letting us know. Now I'm even more excited for when Barnes & Noble deliver it. Oh does Steele's watch play "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" in Steele Searching? Ace

Do you mean the loft scene in Steele Your Heart Away? I did a quick check and it is an Irish tune but it doesn't sound like "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" to me but I could be wrong.
Colors on the transfer look great and the sound is also excellent. The only disappointment so far is that they are still using footage from Pierce's interview session from the first season DVD. It looks like the only actor that they shot new footage of was Doris Roberts. I did hear that Pierce shot some new footage for the Season 4/5 DVD. Don't know if they coerced him into an episode audio commentary though.

Yes I meant Steele Your Heart Away -- I can't believe they didn't fix that. It can't have been that expensive and the song makes sense because the title of the episode is a lyric from it. And when Irish eyes are smiling, Sure, they steal your heart away.I'm not surprised they're reusing PB footage since he's been filming/promoting/producing almost non stop for most of the last year and has more films coming up to shoot/produce. Seems more to do with a matter of scheduling than coercion. If they got a new interview for the Season 4/5 then they probably did it in the early part of March when he was in LA. He'll have finished Butterfly by early May but is starting to film Caitlin July 1, so he has another small window if you don't count being with his family and getting the script/production of Caitlin and TCA off the ground. I wonder if they'd want his commentary on Season 5?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the original Tony Bennett songs are *not* used in the DVD version of "St. Trying." I am bitterly disappointed and unable to properly express my disillusionment. The episode feels so flat. Who should we be mad at and is there anything we can do to show our displeasure? I'd be willing and happy to buy an expensive stand-alone DVD of just this episode.

Darn. Really, I know there were about 9 or 10 of them and it would be expensive, and even though individually not as expensive as the Stone's Satisfaction lyrics, that all combined they'd be more. But unlike that song they were so integral to the episode. Very depressing. Ace
