Oooh, so now festivals in Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands.
I don't know if they've started running commercials on TNT yet but I did read a mini press release for it with one of the photos of Pierce on the building. They'd have to start some publicity this week or what was the point of paying for the film and airing it in their main slot?

They were showing LOTR on TNT and I watched for a while but no commercial for BOAW-S.
Ahem, instead, during the movie we got a promo banner ad at the bottom of the screen for "Shattered" with a picture of the star -- Tom Berenger.
OK, I'll bite. Does anyone at TNT know which "Shattered" they're supposed to be promoting here? Oy!

Oh for the love of... could anyone else find a new way to screw over this film in the U.S.? or maybe they really are showing an 16 year old Berrenger film in prime time, repeated just after and repeated again next week. Um thought not. BuddyHollywood has what looks to be a mini press release for it with a Pierce photo attached: Brosnan, Butler, Bello Star in TNT Thriller SHATTERED Friday, 24 August 2007 Pierce Brosnan (The Matador), Gerard Butler (300) and Maria Bello (A History of Violence) star in the World Television Premiere of SHATTERED, on TNT. The thriller is set to debut on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) with encores later that night at 11 p.m. (ET/PT) and on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT) Directed by Mike Barker (To Kill a King) from a screenplay by William Morrissey (The Rocket Post), SHATTERED stars Brosnan as Tom Ryan, a ruthless sociopath determined to destroy the lives of young suburban couple Neil and Abby Warner (Butler and Bello). In their first encounter with him, Ryan pops up in the back of their SUV and points a gun at their heads. Before they even have a chance to react, he informs them that he has just kidnapped their daughter and that they must do exactly what he says in order to win her freedom. He then forces the couple to commit acts designed to systematically destroy the life they’ve built together. Unable to go to the police or seek help, Neil and Abby must draw upon every ounce of courage in their bodies to overcome Ryan and save their daughter.

Distant countries ... the Philippines viva.com.ph/movies/comingsoon/index.php?movieno=56#desc from the local distributor Mild SPOILERS in the somehow extended synapsis. AND cast+crew TALK about the movie! YES! Some SPOILERS there as well. If you don't mind, read the really interesting production notes - that's the most comprehensive report so far - I think. If they really gave interviews to the Philippine distributor? It's hard to imagine... but where do they quote from then? Should the silence be broken? ahm

Almost all films have Production Notes - some more extensive than others and they're available to all distributors and media. The Philippines though are the one's nice enough to give them to us. Cool And now for some bizarre news. Movies Online has been given the BOAW /Shattered poster today! And they have the release date listed as August 30th! Which is a Thursday -- a day films do not get released on in the U.S. or Canada and makes no mention of it being on TV on Sept 2nd! Now is this true, is it true just for Canada? Sigh. More checking is required. www.moviesonline.ca/film6483.htm

The Early Report which was the only iste online to know of the Miami release dates doesn't have anything for August 30th or any other day for BOAW www.filmjerk.com/earlyreport/article.php?id_eol=454 Lionsgate after about 6 months has finally updated their site and I can't find Shattered listed anywhere as an upcoming film, on TV or in Home entertainment. So much for the Canada theory. Maple Pictures doesn't have it listed as opening on their site either

OK, I am utterly confused at this point. What is going on here? It's not finished being realized I thought, in the US, and now TNT has it? How this possible? Is this some sort of cross media venture, where TNT On Demand is going to CHARGE for viewing this, like a PPV?
If I were Pierce, Maria, and Gerard, I'd be talking a lawyer right about now.

Lionsgate has seemingly sold broadcast rights to TNT which will be airing it Sunday night Sept 2nd on their regular cable channel with I assume pan and scan, commercials and edits for the time slot and TV. The film is listed at 98 minutes which is too long for a 2 hour film slot with regular commercials. TNT has been in the market for more original films so it fits their game plan at least. TNT though doesn't seem to know what film they're promoting and have been running a scroll on TV for a Tom Berenger film named Shattered that came out in 1991. But their site lists the BOAW/Shattered though seemingly without even a photo when every other highlighted film or TV show gets one! Though someone said they actually saw a preview commercial for BOAW on TNT last night. www.tnt.tv/movies/www.tnt.tv/title/?oid=646426Movies Online is under the assumption the film is being theatrically released on August 30th -- but no where else can I find that verified. Lionsgate has sent the poster and trailer out to several sites TODAY (not last month when they were showing it in Miami of course but a month later and which are now popping up on Google News) that don't seem to know that TNT is airing the film on Sunday because Lionsgate didn't tell them. www.moviesonline.ca/film6483.htmIn short... Lionsgate is run by incompetent boobs.

Butterfly On A Wheel / Shattered has been selected for The Calgary International Film Festival 2007 (Sept 21-30). It will screen on Sep. 27th. www.calgaryfilm.com/schedule.php?fd=991#www.calgaryfilm.com/index.phpI wonder if this means Canada will be showing the film theatrically even if the U.S. doesn't. Interesting since the distributors U.S. Lionsgate and the Canadian Maple Pictures are so closely connected and usually release the same films. But then Infinity one of the producers is a significant Canadian film company.

My FoxBy LYNN ELBER AP Television Writer -- Pierce Brosnan, so dashing in TV's "Remington Steele" and later on the big screen as James Bond, stirs (or make that shakes) up his image in "Shattered," debuting 9 p.m. EDT Sunday on TNT. In the film released theatrically as "Butterfly on a Wheel," Brosnan is a bad, bad man. He kidnaps a couple's young daughter and the proceeds to issue demands that aren't about money: He wants to wreck the family's perfect life. Gerard Butler ("300") and Maria Bello ("A History of Violence") co-star as the once-happy husband and wife who end up facing a crushing moral dilemma.

OK, so I am officially confused. Everywhere else this is getting a theatrical release, but here in the US it is getting a TV release.
This seems to be the reverse of Robinson Carusoe which started as a TV movie, but then became a feature film when Pierce landed GE.

Lionsgate = Incompetent Morons who need quick $
That pretty much explains it all. Sad to say.
Luckily for the film they only get to ruin distribution in the U.S. because that's all they have rights to. Unlucky for those in the U.S.

OK...having watched it on TNT all I can say is, WHOA. What an ending.
This would have played nicely as a September or an October release. Nice job Lionsgate. I hope you are proud of yourselves.

I haven't seen it yet but have been spoiled a bit already by a few careless posters. I've heard that the commercials as per usual were annoying and actually were increased in the 2nd airing where pieces of the film were cut. Toss in those annoying ads for their other shows that TNT and TBS like toss in while the film is playing and arghhhh. If I had any self control I'd wait to see it as intended on the DVD but I have none.

I wouldn't have either if I had the chance to get a recording!!! It's so hard to ignore the threads currently starting at IMDB and elsewhere ... not to get spoiled too much. Don't know how long I can resist. Big need for some spoiler-free reviews here!!!!! Maybe someone could try ... please

Be careful of the IMDB -- even the topic headers that seem benign and don't say spoiler have spoilers in them. heck a topic discussing commercials inevitably has at least one boob giving the entire plot away. If you can take the Gerry gushing there's a topic (actually two) on GB.net in the Shattered section that's supposed to be spoiler free though one or two posters drop spoilers anyway. They also have a small review section but if the review has spoilers it's supposed to be in the topic sentence.

I don' t know. I didn't like the movie. The beginning showing the happy family was nauseatingly sweet. The rest of the movie was so predictable there was no suspense at all; the only twist we didn't anticipate long before it occured failed to surprise us because it wasn't completely unexpected anyway. I was knitting during the first few scenes as I wasn't at all interested in Butler and Bello; after PB's character introduced himself, I continued knitting because the movie failed to hold my entire attention. I don't do that often; not with premieres anyway. About an hour into the movie my husband asaked why PB did this movie (and with this particular cast) and said he hoped PB wasn't turning in Harrison Ford. I had a feeling he had a point. Not that he gave a bad performance, but there wasn't much to perform, and even if he were brilliant - diamonds aren't mounted in copper for a reason. There wasn't much chemistry between the husband and wife through the entire movie. Overall, I must say, I found both Butler and Bello completely forgettable, though maybe it wasn't their fault. I hear they're both good actors, but there wasn't much to do. Certainly not much to do to salvage the movie.
