First I thought - and maybe hoped - the bracelet was only for the role of Steele. But he also wore it in a show during an interview (clip with Cassie to promote Steele which Ace made).

All the jewelery seemed to have been his own from the medallion to the bracelet to the Russian Wedding band he wore.
Usually shows and films don't like actors using their own jewelry or clothes because they lose or forget to bring in stuff when it's not locked up in the Costume Dept.
But on RS, PB used his own jewelery and many of the clothing items from Laura's first year wardrove were from SZ's own wardrobe. I think it worked for both of their characters.

I never really like the look of that bracelet. I always thought it looked a touch tacky. *ducks*

Thanks everyone... But I really like the bracelet look especially on Pierce. I dunno, it might looked tacky on other people but with PB, I just thought that he looked pretty stylish with it complete with his suits...heheh... ;D He wore it on the cover of the 1986 people Mag.

PB is one of those men that wears jewelry beautifully, whether it's silver and gold, or stones and rope. Unless a role calls for a specifically tacky look, I don't think I've ever seen him wear any jewelery I'd call tacky. The beauty of the ID bracelet is that he wore it as Steele, a man with no name. Perfect irony. Ace

PB is one of those men that wears jewelry beautifully, whether it's silver and gold, or stones and rope. I think jewelry on men must be an Irish thing. Just look at how much jewelry Gabriel Byrne and Colin Farrell tend to wear. I like moderation myself, but these days wearing multiple rings and necklaces isn't enough, now getting pierced in the weirdest places seems to be in style. LOL! It makes me feel so out of touch, not to like wearing it. Now I have to go back and look at the Remington Steele episodes to see what y'all are refering to.

It reminds me of a scene in Father's Day, in which one of the main characters literally runs into a passerby, all parts of whom not covered by jeans and a vest are covered with earrings (a small cameo by Mel Gibson.) The offender steps back, apologizes, then pauses, and utters, "I've always wanted to ask - do they hurt?" Gibson's character says coolly, "No. Those you see, don't."
Jewelry on men is not an Irish thing. It's worn in many countries, though I'd say the further south, the more gold. It's not a hard and fast rule, of course. And some men look good wearing it, others don't; some look good in gold, others should wear white metals. Same as women, actually.
PB is one of those men who looks good wearing jewelry, IMO. I've always liked this bracelet, it looked good on his hand (they looked good together, that is.) I think it's gold. Those who have Diced (the card-playing scene at RS's apartment), Premium (quite a few senes around that bracelet), or Sensitive (when RS is inspecting the burned closet) on tape, can take a closer look; I'm sure there are more, can't think of any right now.

I realise the irony of RS wearing a name bracelet. I just don't like the look of it; he has worn much nicer bracelets. I agree that he always wears jewelry well, though.

The most memorable use of the bracelet for me is probably is in Forged Steele where he rips his bracelet off that phony Casino girl who claims he gave it to her.

Yes, this moment immediately springs to mind. That he would rip it off her wrist like he did gains even more meaning from the fact that he is in a way taking back his identity. Steele would have never given the bracelet away voluntarily, I think.

That depends on the name on it. Easy come, easy to; he wasn't a greedy man.

Detroit Free Press: NEW DVD RELEASES: 'Steele' yourself
November 8, 2005
BY TERRY LAWSON FREE PRESS MOVIE CRITIC
'Remington Steele'
For the record: After Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan was easily the best James Bond (though I think Timothy Dalton -- and whatever happened to him? -- was underrated). Brosnan's name first came up as a potential Bond after he was introduced to U.S. audiences via "Remington Steele," the clever network series in which he played a sly, suave thief who is recruited by private investigator Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) to front her agency because prospective clients are wary of a woman running the show.
Though the show ran for four seasons (and was capped by a 1987 TV movie that sent the pair on their honeymoon), "Season Two" (THREE STARS out of four stars, Fox, $39.98) was easily the best; one reason was that the great Doris Roberts joined the cast as a former IRS agent who joins the firm and becomes the unofficial referee in the Laura-Remington verbal sparring matches that are far more entertaining than whatever crime there is to be solved. The box contains all 22 episodes from 1983-84, all of which, fans will remember, contain a play on the word Steele in the title.

Okay...how many have started watching Season 2 yet?
:: raises hand ::
Now, if I can tell that two words have been cut from the first episode, for no apparent reason, you know it's obvious.
I couldn't tell you about music in this or any other episode (other than again appreciating the Mancini touch) except that there are those few bars that get repeated way too often in this hour and a half plus. Not the theme song part, that other stuff. Has that always been there, or is that a change? Rather annoying.
If there are any other words left out, someone besides me will know it and no doubt share it. But it was just too weird to have the last two words of the whole thing somehow edited out.
Any thoughts on this??

Any thoughts on this?? cg My post office has it and is holding it hostage. If I'm lucky I'll get it tomorrow but I doubt it, I'll probably get it on Monday. What two words were cut out? And why would they edit words? The last line of the first double episode is: "Mildred frowns as Laura smiles at him. She goes to him and hands it back. "I'm not going to, Mr. Steele." So they cut out "Mr. Steele"? If so -- weird. I still don't see why he should pay her taxes. Don't see why he should have given up the diamonds and the finders fee either. Of course I suspect he kept those diamonds that were found in the fish. Ace

No, no, no! I could swear she says, "I'm not going to, Mr. Steele...YOU are." It even seemed like there was a bearly noticeable blip in the take. That's why she hands it back to him.
And it's not Steele paying Laura's taxes; it's him paying his own personal (1040) taxes, penalty and interest. That's what got noticed as being "misplaced" when the agency's name came up for auditing. Mildred said that it flagged all of their personal forms to be looked at, too, presumably for just such a purpose: to make sure no one was being paid under the table (hence the IRS not getting their share). Then of course he didn't have one to find -- for the feds or his "own copy."

They aren't his taxes, he wasn't even Remington Steele when those taxes were being accrued. Those are taxes for her imaginary Steele that she didn't pay taxes for because he was imaginary and of course wasn't getting a salary. Krebbs of course doesn't believe that because she doesn't know he was imaginary. How Laura didn't think the IRS was ever going to come knocking on her door is another question. Laura was a very sloppy con artist. The transcript from Nancy Eddy's site just has that as the last line. There is no "You are". It's just implied that it's him doing the paying. Ace

>Now, if I can tell that two words have been cut from the first episode, for no apparent reason, you know it's obvious.
Nothing was cut. She never said, "You are." She meant for Mildred to assume that's what she meant, though. Laura's the one that didn't think to file a tax return for the then non-existant Mr. Steele - she'll (the Agency) will be the one playing the taxes and the penalties.
>I couldn't tell you about music in this or any other episode (other than again appreciating the Mancini touch) except that there are those few bars that get repeated way too often in this hour and a half plus.
I don't know what music you mean. They used "Mildred's Theme" quite a bit and they used the wanna-be James Bond/"From Russia w/Love" music. I love those themes, though.
The music in the dance scene has been changed, tho. Originally, it was Michael Jackson's "Beat It." Now it's just a lot of bass, which I find annoying. But I probably wouldn't have thought it sounded out of place except I knew what the music was supposed to be.
I also wonder if they deleted some music while Laura, in her swimsuit, and Dominic are walking on Sebastian's boat after R and M are spying on L. It sounded naked there, but I haven't checked to see if there was music there originally.
I was almost holding my breath when the Mariachi trios came over to L & R's table and offered to play for them. Thank goodness they didn't change the music there and we got to hear "Guantanamara"!

My DVDs arrived today from Amazon. They were shipped on Monday, and since yesterday was a holiday, I think they made very good time considering our mail delivery has been hindered by storm interruptions. At least I know the post office is in operation again. I ordered Season 2 and Season 1 (I wanted a spare). First thing I noticed upon opening the box is that SEASON ONE now has Stephanie's name on the cover!!!!!!!! Hooray! My first copy has her name on a sticker on the cover. So now, right next to his head, to the right, their names appear like this: PIERCE BROSNAN STEPHANIE ZIMBALIST instead of the old way: PIERCE BROSNAN Looks like our campaigning for recognition for Stephanie has paid off somewhat. The Season Two cover doesn't look as bad in person as it did on the web. Although the front of the cover is tacky, I do like the back better. Why oh why do they feel it necessary to cut off the tops of their heads? I saw the Season 2 set at WalMart yesterday. The price was $29.99, so I'm glad I got my copy from Amazon, although I guess it would have been nice to support my local store - they certainly can use all the sales they can get down here. Just above RS on the rack was the Hart to Hart set, Season One, a 3-DVD pack for about $31.99. I'm thinking about getting that one, too. Later. Now I going to have lunch and watch "Steele Away With Me"...........

About the Hart to Hart set, it was 3 folders inside the package (RS has only 2) so I'm not really sure how many DVDs are in the HtoH pack. I do remember reading that 22 episodes are included. Yes. Life has been wild but I made time to watch Steele Away this evening, after several false starts today. Strange thing is that it keeps "freezing" in several spots, most noticably when Laura is on the boat with Dominic, and when Laura and Steele are riding horses. Most annoying. I'm hoping there is just dust on the disc. Any ideas how to clean it? (edited to say I cleaned my disc with my shirt(!) and it seems to have worked. The second run through played smoothly). I fell asleep with Red Holt running, and when I woke up it was near the end so I think it played okay. When it got stuck on Steele Away, I had to forward it by pushing 'play' or 'FF'. Sometimes one just has to take a play break from all the mess. What better way to do it that with Remington Steele? I love the music in Steele Away. It's a great episode. Just loved his underwear scene.
