I totally agree with you. Lionsgate has most definitely dropped the ball and if I were Pierce, I'd be less than pleased. Heck, I'd be downright furious. I'm sure he didn't drop a good chunk of Irish Dreamtime's money into the project just to have it brushed aside because the distribution company did a hideously pitiful job in the P&A department. It's not like Lionsgate doesn't have a prints and ad budget. They just apparently haven't taught the people in said Ad and Publicity Departments how to properly spend it. They have a film opening in less than a week and no advance PR. Guess they won't have far to look for the people to blame when the film doesn't pull in an audience. It's going to be their own damned fault!

I put up an avi/divx version of the trailer you can download from Mediafire. It's 16 mb www.mediafire.com/?3enzbh5jmnbI've tried to upload it to Youtube but my connection is too slow and Youtube keeps pretending it's uploaded after 5 seconds. I don't see a trailer for the film there yet so if anyone can do that with their account that would be great.

In case anyone wants to know if their local theater is getting this film, or planning to, or just to maybe even tell them you are interested that they do, you can call or e-mail your local theater chain and ask about the film. If you e-mail them you can redirect them to the trailer lionsgate.com/shattered or even give the URL if you're on the phone. Let them know Lionsgate is releasing it and who it stars. The Gerard Butler site gb.net is suggesting their fans do this and many have and supposedly large theater chains and small independents from LA & NYC to Kansas etc - have said Lionsgate never offered it to them but they'd be interested. Some even asked for a print but were told by Lionsgate that few were made and they'd have to wait. You can also sign up for the Lionsgate forum and make you voice heard here (it would be nice if 99% of the posters weren't just Gerard Butler fas): forums.lionsgate.com/showthread.php?t=11680

I would so love to be a fly on the wall when Pierce gets word of what a disaster Lionsgate has made of this film's release. Considering his reaction to finding out about the "Steele" commentary being put out on the foreign DVDs, well, let's just say those at Lionsgate will need to find the nearest border and make a run for it...LOL!

I'm sure he probably already knows. Lionsgate has really been dragging it's feet on the poster and trailer and supposedly ICON has been begging for them for months to release them. Finally they release them yesterday (complete with date error) 4 days before the film opens.
Pierce's site which usually is very up to date on his films has basically nothing for Shattered/BOAW except the name change - which shows they hadn't released the theater info, poster or trailer to him or Irish Dreamtime either.

OK, Lionsgate is just tracking video plays from their site -- so play it often. lionsgate.com/shatteredAnd they've fixed the date to the 27th.

You have to love this. The Miami Herald actually has a listing for the film and summary (not a review) but it's under BOAW and actually links to The Shattered Trailer site. ;D www.miamiherald.com/movie/movie/7222.htmlIt only has one Miami theater listed so far though: Theaters for Today * Cobb Theatres - Miami Lakes 17 * 6711 Main Street, Miami Lakes, FL - Map * Shows: (11:55 AM), (2:15), (4:45), 7:15, 9:45, 12:00 AM Te Sun Sentinal lists it as Shattered. But no link to the trailer and just a one line synopsis and cast list of the wrong film -- the film from 1991! No Review either. But it lists 3 theaters: Shattered (R) Synopsis A West Coast developer has amnesia after a car accident and begins to suspect his wife of treachery. This movie showing at the following theaters within 60 miles of zipcode 33301: Le Jeune Cinema 6 (Miami) Cobb Miami Lakes 17 (Miami Lakes) California Club 6 (North Miami Beach)

Well, that's a good start I guess. Miami Herald is covering the film. It's unbelievable how this is being handled. Still nothing from Maple Pictures yet either. It's kinda depressing, I really want to see this in my local theatre. btw, thanks for the info on release times.

Hopefully Maple Pictures will show the film more respect since it's a Canadian production with a Canadian producer in Infinity. Grey Owl, I think the last (and one of the very rare) PB film not released in US theaters was released in Canada.

Well, I was hoping so with Maple Pictures, but nary a word on it's release yet. Even with this film being a Canadian Production, the film 'Beowulf and Grendel' didn't get much theatre time and it too was a Canadian/Icelandic movie. I wish Maple Pictures will release some info soon.

The Miami Herald has updated their listing with the correct title and now show 3 (out of the 5) theater. Still no review or listing for it on the main Movie page -- you have to search for it. It gives the official synopsis on the Icon site. Shattered Cast: Pierce Brosnan, Maria Bello (don't list Gerard Butler) Produced by: Directed by: Mike Barker Written by: William Morrissey Running time: 1hr 30min (should be 1:38 min) Opens: Theaters for Today * Cobb Theatres - Miami Lakes 17 * 6711 Main Street, Miami Lakes, FL - Map * Shows: (11:55 AM), (2:15), (4:45), 7:15, 9:45, 12:00 AM * Cobb Hialeah Grand 18 * 17355 NW 59th Avenue, Hialeah, FL - Map * Shows: (1:00), (3:30), 6:40, 9:10 * Cobb Theatres - Dolphin 19 Cinema * Dolphin Mall, Miami, FL - Map * Shows: 11:00 AM, 1:15, 3:30, 5:45, 8:00, 10:15, 12:30 AM

Please forgive me, I'm new to this forum. I own www.gerardbutlergals.com and have been trying to get the word out about a petition to Lionsgate regarding releasing this film in wide release ( www.petitiononline.com/11132007). I would like to thank Stephanie for posting on the petition and hope we can get more Pierce fans to post as well. Together, we can make it happen! *hugs* Dayna

As part of the earlier Video Business article (dated July 16th) Lionsgate also gave their upcoming DVD schedule. Shattered already has a DVD release date of Dec 25th. So they had the release date even before their "test" release. But then it's 5 months away which is a wide enough window to even accommodate even a wide release done in Sept, if they wanted to exert any effort and bother. The studio's slate for the next six months: Dr. Strange - Aug. 14 Delta Farce - Sept. 4 Away From Her - Sept. 11 Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horrors -Sept. 11 The Condemned - Sept. 18 Bug - Sept. 25 Stir of Echoes 2: Homecoming - Nov. 20 Shattered - Dec. 25Captivity - TBA Bratz - TBA First Quarter 2008 Saw IV The Eye with Jessica Alba 3:10 to Yuma War Good Luck Chuck Trade

A few spoiler free Butler fan reviews from the Miami showing (and some depressing but all too expected attendance figures for a film with zero marketing, no publicity and no official reviews (way to go Lionsgate!)
==============================================================
After my second viewing of the film tonight, I wrote a fuller review and edited it a bit.
Imagine a Yuppie Gerard Butler. Great looking. Confident. Successful. Gorgeous wife. Beautiful sweet daughter. The perfect life in upscale suburban Chicago.
Enter mysterious menacing stalking stranger and their worst nightmare begins.
He threatens the life of their daughter as insurance for their obedience to his demands.
Sound like the typical 'kidnapped kid' flick?
It's not.
It's taut, suspenseful, edge of your seat storytelling combined with good solid performances by all, especially Bello and Brosnan. Gerry is very good, but I've seen him better. I believe he filmed this on the heels of the grueling demands of 300 and it shows a bit. He may not be at the very top of his game here, but he still plays well.
Brosnan upped his credibility as an actor for me today. He played this character perfectly. Just the right tone of voice and facial expressions, joined with his eyes and body language, spoke in unison to perfection in every scene. I'd really like to see more from him, he is a very good dramatic actor. I like him better as an older, mature man. More gritty, less suave.
Maria Bello is perfect as the mother held hostage by mother love and the need to protect her child at all costs.
I loved the score. Where you might expect a really intense, gritty score, this one opts for a quieter one with a bit of bluesy undertones and it works. It intesifies at the right moments, but never takes a front seat as often happens in thrillers. It melds with the action and helps makes each scene into an audiovisual, emotional emulsion.
In fact, the whole film is just quieter than one would expect, given what is usually served up with films of this genre. There are no car chases, no last minute rescues, no heros. It never goes over the top. It has its feet on the ground and its eyes on what's human and real.
This film is no dud. Even if it flops at the box office, it will not be the fault of the filmakers, the actors, the editors or the producers. It is good moviemaking. You may not come out of the theater thinking it's one of the best films you've ever seen, but there's a good chance you'll be satisified that you got your money's worth - an enjoyable night at the movies.
I give it a definite thumbs up.
Warning: DON'T read much about this film. DON'T watch the trailer over and over. The less you know going in, the better your experience of it will be. Because of one seemingly innocuous remark made by someone who'd seen it, I guessed the ending about halfway through. I wasn't even trying. But things we hear stick in our minds whether we like it or not. I sincerely wish I had not guessed correctly. The rest of the film lost it's suspense for me.
Hint: This is a two timer. It's even better the second time.

***And it was fantastic! Seriously, I'm still a little shell- shocked. I think I'll go see it again before I drive home tomorrow.
I saw the 10pm at the La Juene theatre. Unfortunately, there were only 6 of us there. I know I wondered openly on one of the other "Shattered" threads why, if the movie was any good, weren't the powers that be promoting it. Well, I just have to say they must be daft not to be giving this a wide release. It's totally suspenseful and ends with a huge kicker of a twist. Gerry is fabulous in it--his best acting to date, imho and he has the biggest part. Really, it/he is just awesome! If you get any chance at all to see it, you should!
****
Once upon a time, Kevin Bacon was in a movie called Wild Things that was all twisty-and-turny. If you have seen that, do you think this one has as many twists?
***
Yikes, I barely remember Wild Things, Whooo. I don't think you can say Shattered is a twists and turns sort of movie--it's more like a mind trick. A good comparison might be The Sixth Sense (though they're totally different genres, of course) where you know something's up, but you don't know what for sure and then the end is totally unexpected or at least different than what you imagined it might be. Granted, I guessed TSS about five minutes in, but I didn't guess Shattered. It's one of those movies where the clues are there, but you don't realize the movie is feeding you clues until after it's over.

I won’t deny that I had my reservations about this movie, so I went to see it not expecting much and with an underlying feeling that I would be disappointed … boy was I wrong!
Now I CANNOT really understand why this movie is not being shown everywhere! I loved it!
Without giving anything away, I will just tell you that it is a suspenseful, well acted, intense movie. I am very good at guessing endings and this one took me totally by surprise.
Gerry’s performance is very, very good, seeing him not playing any historical characters just a regular guy is a fresh breeze of air, he looks fantastic and did a great job with the accent.
Maria Bello is outstanding and Pierce Brosnan plays his role perfectly.
I highly recommend it and I hope they will give it a wider release, it’s worth watching.
We saw it at the Dolphin Theater in Miami, there were about 20 of us and about 6-8 other people. It was nice seeing tpeople I've met before and some new ones. It was great to spend some time together with other Gerry fans.
Thanks Katie for organizing everything.

I will keep it short and sweet. This movie was a really great thriller. All three actors were phenomenal!!! I'm sooo glad that I didn't read Paolinas review before I went to see it. I'm usually the type of person who figures out the end of these suspense thrillers, but this one had me thinking until the end, I love the twists and turns and the mind games.
I thought Gerry was fantastic, his accent was fine with me, I love Pierce as the villian and Maria is spectacular. I always go into a Gerry movie without expectations but he went through every emotion in this film and he was right on.
I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time.

"SHATTERED" Incredible Performances Surprise Ending!, Butterfly on a Wheel.................................WOW!
SHATTERED was Great!!!!
IN MY OPINION HIS BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE YET!!
It would be a pity if the movie is not more widely distributed. Performances by Pierce, Maria and Gerry were (in) credible and a phenomenal emotional rollercoaser ride for the audience. It is a must see movie!! It was a suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat, gut wrenching experience with a powerfully twisted ending!
Lobby to get this movie in your local theaters, it will be well worth the experience!!
