Bond is already HUGE in India, and considering how low the prices of tickets there are (some the equivilent of a dime) she couldn't deliver enough over what Bond already delivers to make her delusional pain in the ass demands worthwhile. As for the family understanding, only when it's themselves using Bond casting for more publiicty. Actors who try it are usually out on their proverbial ass even if they were being initially considered. Ace

Worthwile - no, but worth a try - definitely. Bond is already huge everywhere; they still need 3-4 girls for the next movie if they want it to continue being huge. As for the family understanding, only when it's themselves using Bond casting for more publiicty. Actors who try it are usually out on their proverbial ass even if they were being initially considered. I just wonder - is India just as big on bootleg tapes and DVDs as some other countries in that region?

Worthwile - no, but worth a try - definitely. Bond is already huge everywhere; they still need 3-4 girls for the next movie if they want it to continue being huge. And I'm sure they could find another Indian actress that would happily show her legs her belly button and kiss the leading man. In fact when these rumors started months ago there was a bunch of other high profile young Indian actresses who said they'd have no problem at all, they'd love it. So why give a part to the prudish ingrate. With ticket prices sooo cheap probably not. On places like China the ticket prices are so high in proportion to bootlegged DVD's (often just a $1 or $2 on the street) which is why they're such a lucrative "business". In India, with the average ticket price at 10 cents (according to Box office Mojo) well the movie buiness isn't that impacted by bootlegs. I believe DAD made about $4 1/2m there, and if the tickets were 10 cents that's 40 million tickets sold! (13 million more than in the U.S.!) Ace

Don't forget the populaton of India is about 3 times bigger than the population of States - 13 million isn't that impressive, after all. I like it that you didn't say it was illegal to make bootleg copies; why should they worry about using EON for cheap publicity, then?

Actually it's still rather large since I believe more tickets are still sold in America than any other country and if I recall correctly India has some restriction on the amount of theaters a non Indian film can be shown in. But even so the total B.O. from India is so comparatively small that a pain in the arse actress would not be worth coddling. Casting actress from countries with larger box offices who'd be professional as well as honoured to get the role would be much more lucrative. And this new stance of Ash's that the producer's have agreed to her body double crap dependent on Pierce agreeing... what a load. So I guess when the cast list of Bond 21 comes out and she's not on it she will trumpet she held on to her "purity" and it's all PB's fault for denying her. And I don't have to specifically say bootlegging is illegal, it just is. And I'm sure EON aren't offering the bootleggers parts in their film either. Ace

Agents deny Ash is Bond girlDOMINIC FERRAO/INDIATIMES MOVIES JANUARY 07, 2004 With all those rumours about Aishwarya insisting on a body double for the revealing scenes in the next Bond film before she signed on the dotted line, we decided to do a reality check. When we got in touch directly with Aishwarya's US agents, this is what they came up with. Aishwarya herself was out of town shooting in Coorg for the Sameer Karnik film Kyon Ho Gaya Na . Is it true that Ash has insisted on a body double for the revealing scenes in the Bond movie? This is absolutely untrue. The entire James Bond situation is nothing more than a rumour. Ash is not the next Bond girl...There is no James Bond script in hand. Is it true that Pierce Brosnan met her personally? What did they talk about? Ash did not meet Pierce Brosnan at a Hollywood party, and no casting director has contacted us with any offer. No matter how many times the press insists that she is starring in Bond, we must continually correct the statement and confirm the fact. ================================= Maybe her Agents should speak with her PR people and get their stories straight, or maybe they do and have decided, one makes it up, the other denies and it still makes news for her. The chap in question is being pushed by his lady, who says she can use her contacts, to get her man to take over from Pierce Brosnan. Good luck...you'll need it!

Oh please... The British "press" just keeps getting better and better. Britney wants to a Bond girl (like Madonna... wow thought that was just a cameo!) and she'll get it because the producers want nothing more than to hire a 22 year pop bimbo who can't act for their next film just because she wants it. D ;D ;D ;D ;D. BRIT'S MAD ON BOND Spears to follow Madge as 007 babe[/b] DIAMONDS may be for ever but a pop career sure isn't - which could explain why Britney Spears has set her sights on becoming a Bond girl. And what a surprise... it just so happens that her mentor, Madonna, played a baddie in the last Bond flick, Die Another Day. According to our sources, Britney fancies herself as a lithe-limbed lovely opposite Pierce Brosnan in the next 007 movie, due out in 2005. The 22-year-old copycat is in talks with film-makers after instigating a meeting with Bond producer Barbara Brocolli. "Britney's desperate to carve out a name for herself as an actress and loves the idea of being a Bond girl," reveals our insider. "She's in great shape and thinks she'd be brilliant. "Britney has seen what it's done profile-wise for Halle Berry and she wants a slice of the action." But we can understand why they may be reluctant to sign her. Britney was widely panned for her starring role in Crossroads, a sickly-sweet teen road-trip movie. And since then her acting experience has only extended to a new Pepsi advert, where she appears alongside Pink, Enrique Iglesias and Beyonce Knowles. In an exclusive interview she told us: "I want to take my acting very seriously because that's what I'm going to be concentrating on over the next few years." Sources close to Britney say they hope she will get the part as she needs to have something worthwhile to focus on. The gum-chewing singer has had friends and family pulling their hair out in despair over the past couple of years at her partying lifestyle. The last straw came when she married childhood friend Jason Alexander in a tacky Las Vegas chapel after going on a massive New Year's Eve booze bender. Her mum Lynne went crackers and made her daughter get the marriage annulled after 55 hours. Insiders say furious Lynne has told Britney in no uncertain terms to sort herself out or her career could be irreparably damaged. Our source continues: "Britney knows she's got to buck up her ideas. "Her music career's going nowhere and she knows that to succeed in films she's got to go for the jugular - that's why she decided to go directly to Barbara. "Ideally Britney wants to have a main role as a beautiful villain but nothing has been signed yet." Let's just hope that if she does managed to land her dream role, Britney doesn't take acting lessons from Madonna, too...

Britney the next Bond girl? Not so fast.
Rumors have been flying over the past couple of days after a photo was snapped of the pop tart at a meeting with the Bond brain trust in London.
But the rumors are nothing to get shaken or even stirred up about.
According to MGM, Spears requested the meeting, which producers of the 007 film franchise agreed to as a courtesy.
The sitdown spawned the Bond babe gossip after someone snapped a shot of Spears & Co. leaving the meeting.
However, Spears left without a 007 deal and, besides, there's not even a script for the next spy series flick, a rep for MGM, the studio that distributes all the Bond films, told E! on Wednesday.
We can only speculate the maneuver was part of the "Not Yet a Woman" singer's attempt to transition from sugary sweet teen star to mature performer.
After all, being a Bond girl upped the va-va-voom quotient of celebs such as Denise Richards, Grace Jones, Ursula Andress and Halle Berry, who almost scored her own 007 spinoff.
For now, the Britster will have to make do with a gig producing and starring in an adaptation of author Tobi Tobin's Door to Door, in which she'll play an ambitious teen who tries to make it big in Hollywood.
It's something of a dj vu for Spears, who played an aspiring teen singer trying to make it in Los Angeles in the 2002 stinker and her feature debut Crossroads.
Spears has also been linked to a big-screen version of The Dukes of Hazzard, filling out Daisy Duke's Daisy Dukes, but nothing has been finalized.
The pop singer, fresh off a one-minute marriage, is having better luck with her music career. Her current album In the Zone is number six on the latest album chart. Spears will kick off a nationwide tour to promote the album March 2 in San Diego, wrapping up April 10 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Nah, nah, I don't see Brit as a Bond girl. It could become really ugly. First she gets the role, then she wants to sing the theme! And then she'll want her own franchise! But then, come to think of it - she has something common with Bond - the longevity of their marriages. Welcome to the board, Mai.
