Hmmm... I'm not sure if Pierce is atcually in this film or it was confused with Marriage. This is I believe the film that Pierce discussed Bruce Beresford wanting him for (he's directing) that Pierce said he turned down because it was too similiar to Marriage. I wonder if that changed or Variety just screwed up. Variety: Notro reels in 10 AFM pixAcquisition trawl led by trio of pics sold by Hanway Films By JOHN HOPEWELL Pushing out the boat on a wide range of buys, from crossover to art films to genre pics, Barcelona boutique distributor Notro Films has closed rights for Spain on 10 titles shopped at this month's American Film Market. The acquisition trawl is led by a trio of pics sold by Hanway Films: young Jane Austen bio "Becoming Jane," toplining Anne Hathaway ("The Devil Wears Prada"); Canadian actress Sarah Polley's directorial debut, "Away From Her"; and Terry Gilliam's "Tideland." Notro also has closed two titles from Japan's Shochiku, an established Notro supplier: the third part of Yoji Yamada's Samurai trilogy, "Love and Honor," and Takeshi Furusawa's contempo chiller "Ghost Train." Myriad Pics has licensed Spanish rights to Notro on the Oscar Wilde adaptation "A Woman of No Importance," a period turn for Pierce Brosnan and Annette Bening, while Notro picked up Michael Rapaport starrer "Special" from Fabrication Films. Notro's AFM shopping spree, which confirms it as one of Spain's most prolific buyers for non-mainstream titles, is completed by three movies from Canada-based Horizon: "One Missed Call: Final," the last part of the Japanese horror saga; Canadian Trent Carlson's "The Delicate Art of Parking"; and Ham Tran's U.S./Thai production "Journey From the Fall," turning on Vietnamese boat people

Well if Variety is mistaken so is Notro Films in Spain that purchased the distribution rights.

The Hollywood Reporter has the same information Notro's AFM pickupsBy Pamela Rolfe Nov 28, 2006 MADRID -- Spanish distribution house Notro Films said Monday it has picked up Spanish rights to eight movies, including Julian Jarrold's "Becoming Jane," Sarah Polley's "Away from Her" and the final episode in the Japanese terror saga "One Missed Call: Final." The hefty shopping bag, which Notro takes home following this year's American Film Market, shows the ambition for the Barcelona-based distributor, which presently has "Copying Beethoven" in Spanish theaters. "It coincided that Notro is growing and that we found a lot of films at AFM that were in keeping with the very clearly defined line of films that Notro handles," said Notro acquisitions' chief Raquel Luque. "If we're growing, it's clear we need to add to our slate." Other titles picked up include Bruce Beresford's "A Woman of No Importance," starring Pierce Brosnan, Annette Bening and Lindsay Lohan, Terry Gilliam's "Tideland," and the odd comedy "Special," in which Michael Rapaport plays a man who acquires new powers after taking medication. Also from Japan, Notro bought Yoji Yamada's "Love and Honor" and Takeshi Furusawa "Ghost Train."

I checked Imdb and it lists Sean Bean, Annette Bening and Lindsay Lohan. Maybe they got Pierce mixed up with Sean Bean. But I do hope PB is in this movie. Bening is one of my favourite actresses and I like Sean Bean as well. The story of the movie is pretty good too. I'm sooo hoping this news is true...

That IMDB info is several months old and that cast list went up when there was another director -- though that's been changed finally to Bruce Beresford. The producers of the film -- Myriad Pictures on their site in news dated Sept 29th just have Bening and Lohan listed for the cast so Bean might be out. It would strange if the distibutors who bought the film got it wrong but stranger things have happened. Though they even have a photo of him along with Lohan on their mock up for the film poster. Ace

I don't want to sound dumb but ... why would that be a disaster? Donna ***Pierce could be potentially making a movie with Lindsey Lohan??? That is a disaster just waiting to happen.**

It's not a dumb question, I should have explained myself better. "Disaster" wasn't the right word to use. I was conjecturing and I shouldn't have done that.
First of all I personally don't think Lindsay Lohan is that great of an actress, so working with her could prove challenging to her, to Annette Benning, to anyone else who doesn't answer to the name "Paris."
I think it is pretty clear now that LL is a bit of a troubled girl, and she hasn't had much of a father in her life. (Her father writes into a newspaper in NYC trying to prove what a great dad he is, and to put it mildly, it doesn't work.) Pierce is a very stable guy, and a very attractive man, and from what I understand it is not a huge stretch to imagine that a girl in LL's position would be attracted to a man like him.
I would hate to see her wind up developing feelings for Pierce, because while she is no Katie Holmes, and he certainly is no Tom Cruise, it takes a long time to shake a crush like that.
*phew*
I now return us to our regularly scheduled discussion of this movie he may or may not be in.
Love...B

Thanks, Barbara. I was kind of thinking it was something along those lines, but wasn't sure. Yes, Pierce is very attractive ...beyond gorgeous ... Let me pause a moment to appreciate him once again. As for the movie.... guess we'll see. This was the first I heard of him being in it .. ...we'll see. Donna

I wouldn't worry about any thing of that matter. Lohan seems more than content to party within her own age range and Pierce is quite out of that. If there's any disaster it would be about her professionalism.
I think she's actually quite talented. She was a remarkable child actress (I adored her on Another World -- she was like a wise 40 yr old in an 8 yr old body) but she's diluted her talent with the incessent partying and being headline fodder. It seems as if she wants to rectify that by taking roles in more adult challenging films but there have been reports that she hasn't come prepared and has shown up late from partying.
William Macy who rarely if ever complains about co-stars complained about that on Bobby and declared it about the worst thing an actor could do on a film because it shows not only disrespect for your work but for the time and effort of everyone else involved. That was at least a large ensemble piece where that could be covered up -- Wilde's play has basically 4 main characters.

I had been thinking about LL's drinking. Just today (Saturday, 12/02), her publicist confirms that she is in AA but added that it is an AA group her friends go to.
So...are her friends going to AA because they all have a problem and want help, or because they think it is "cool" to have a problem.
Anyway, this thread is not about LL, it is about Pierce, a man of great importance to many of us. ;-)
I take it if this film gets made Annette Benning is his wife, and Pierce is the husband. So who is the Woman of No Importance -- the older mother, or the daughter?
One hopes they don't cast Lindsey as the mistress.

There is no wife and husband. The Woman of No Importance would be Benning who had a child (by a man who spurned her) -- now a grown man who's going to work for (surprise) his father -- and neither knows it. Lohan would play the American girlfriend/fiance of the son. It doesn't seem as if the son has been cast yet.
It's a satire/comedy of manners that turns a tad melodramatic at the end.
Interesting trivia, if this comes to fruition it will be the third film Pierce and Annette have worked on together.

Looks like though he may have be attached once (though how much considering the word used is only "potential") he's not now.
From today's LA Times interview with Annette Benning:
Honing her edge - In "Running With Scissors," Annette Bening diversifies with a role on the dark side.
By Fred Schruers, Special to The Times, The Envelope December 29, 2006
That said, Bening, who's extremely picky about her projects, now has two potential ones that will bring her "what I'm very much in need of, something that takes me in a whole different direction than this world of 'Running With Scissors.' "
One prospect is an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's "A Woman of No Importance," an indie production to be directed by Bruce Beresford, now temporarily on hold after potential costar Pierce Brosnan dropped out
