Brosnan, wife helps Honolulu school kids Thu May 31, 4:06 AM ET
HONOLULU (AP) - Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely have donated $100,000 to help replace an unsafe playground at an elementary school on Kauai, where they own a home.
The money was donated to Hawaii 3R's (Repair, Remodel and Restore Hawaii's public schools), a nonprofit organization that kicked in $47,800 for the project at Hanalei Elementary School.
"We were disheartened that the playground equipment was condemned for so long, and we wanted to find a way to help," the former James Bond actor said Wednesday in a news release. "We believe that play activities enhance children's educational experiences, and these children were missing out."
Keely Brosnan was on the playground planning committee.
"We initially planned to donate the money to the state, but we ran into some tape," she said. "We were fortunate to hear about Hawaii 3R's."
The new playground is to be dedicated Monday.
The group said it has awarded 317 grants totaling $9.3 million to public schools for repair and maintenance projects since 2001.

the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2007/Jun/04/ln/FP706040329.htmlHANALEI SCHOOL CEREMONY JUNE 22 Due to overwhelming community interest, dedication of the new playground at Hanalei Elementary School has been rescheduled to June 22. The dedication had been scheduled for today. But the school and the planning committee decided to reschedule the ceremony so the community could participate. Actor Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely, donated $100,000 to the nonprofit organization Hawaii 3R's in March to replace the playground. Hawaii 3R's also provided a grant of $47,800 toward the project. The June 22 celebration will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and will include the blessing of the playground as well as a lu'au and entertainment.

I wonder if Keely and Pierce will be there. He was in London in the last few days so perhaps that is one reason for the dedication to be rescheduled?

I wonder if Keely and Pierce will be there. He was in London in the last few days so perhaps that is one reason for the dedication to be rescheduled? Filming starts on the 25th and he's in rehearsals for the rest of the month so it's doubtful he'll fly back for it. But it sounds like fun. Ace
