My husband wants to by for me PB biography for our anniversary. We looked at the amazon.com and there are 3 different biographies from 1997, 2002 and 2003  . Because the shipment cost from US to Israel is very high I wanted to ask you to recommend me the best of his biographies.  Thanks a lot |

The York Membry bio is by far the best, and you'll want to get the most current version of it.

You can also buy the books from Amazon.co.uk. The shipping is probably much better from the UK to Israal though the exchange rate with pounds might be more costly than buying stuff from the land of the cheap dollar.

Except if you're buying it for pictures - then you want to buy the earliest one, I heard they were better than those in the recent version, understandably, as they were reprints. BTW, some stores here carried Membery's bio, so it's worth inquiring in the nearest Steimatsky before ordering it from Amazon. Or you can try www.abebooks.com/, especially if you want an older edition - you never know where you can find a book, I once bought something from Spain. |

I'd also recommend the York Membery bio because it's more entertaining to read. For my taste a little too revealing at times, but I'm sure you'll be able to deal with that. The Peter Carrick bio might offer different anecdotes sometimes, but is generally a little dry.
Hope you'll make a good deal on whatever book you decide to get.

Well, I've just purchased the 1997 biography from the e-bay. I should get it from Australia in 10 days. I hope I'll enjoy it, I can't wait to lay my hands on it  |
