With the past firmly behind her, the actress is now looking forward to good films — Sehar, Film Star, Hope and a Little Sugar and Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana are just some films in her kitty.
Here she tells hitList about her next release, Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye and life after Leander Paes.
Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye
I got the role thanks to the casting couch! Don’t quote me… I was joking. Samar (Khan, the director) wanted someone who could wear a burkha and a mini-skirt with ease and he thought I fit the bill.
It’s an unusual film about six characters who have never had the time to communicate but are now stuck together in a small airport and get the chance to talk to each other.
My chemistry with Arshad Warsi...
I am very fond of Arshad and he’s one of my dearest friends, but we are not having an affair. I used to think he was very formal till we began working together for Kuch Meetha…he cracks jokes all the time and makes crazy improvisations which make us roar with laughter.
Sehar, again with Arshad
It’s a tough, gritty, realistic film directed by Kabeer Kaushik but I am the cherry on the top. I am adding the colour to an already colourful film. It was fascinating to watch Arshad transform himself to a touch, serious cop.
Rekha and I
We had done Dil Hai Tumhara before, but I got to really know her during Kudiyon Ka Zamana. It’s about female bonding. During DHT, she was more reserved and would restrict our conversations to advise on make-up and preaching.
But in KKZ, our bonding was on a different level because we are playing friends in the film. But she still doesn’t party or go pubbing with us, after work.
Rekha says she has never tasted alcohol, so for one scene in the film, when she refused to drink champagne we had to substitute it with apple juice.
My dream role...
A rip-roaring comedy film with Juhi Chawla and me. Or a female version of Austin Powers. Juhi is my favorite actress. I fought with Samar because he gave all the comic lines to Arshad in the film. I didn’t have a single one!

Alec Baldwin and Pierce Brosnan. I have met Pierce when I did the Omega Time Out ad with him.
What the ad was about
I taught Pierce Brosnan to shake his butt and do thumkas! Well, he asked me to. He was supposed to ask me questions about Bollywood but kept asking about the dances, and how we did so many kinds of films with songs. I just looked into his blue eyes I swooned….

If I found someone sexy I would be married to him by now, no?
Life after a Leander
I have moved on. But people don’t let you be. They rake up the past over and over again. It’s insensitive to ask about people who never mattered. I had spoken out at that time; never again.
My ‘secret’ boyfriend
I am not seeing any industrialist from Delhi called Sunil. I am single now and not dating anyone.
