Pierce Brosnan Star Of After The Sunset Hairy Chest Is Best
BROSNAN PROUD OF 'HAIRY CHEST'
January 3, 2005, 11:18:30
PIERCE BROSNAN is proud of the body hair he displays in movie AFTER THE SUNSET - particularly as his wife is a fan of the unshaven look.
The Irish actor previously shaved his "hairy chest" for 1999 film flop GREY OWL, in which he played a Native American, but he feels more comfortable retaining the natural look. Brosnan, 51, says, "I shaved it for my role in Grey Owl, which was a disaster really. It wasn't a great success but it was a film I loved.
"I had to shave for that because I was playing a Native American. It was interesting because I was working out heavily at that time and it looked rather good.
"I thought, 'I can see why you guys do this.' But it's not my bag to do it all the time. No, it's a bit strange. Besides, the missus really likes my hairy chest."

I wonder what interview this new pull story de jour came from? And where is the specific quote that he's "proud". I need context people! ;D

I never liked a hairy chest. But Pierce is something special. I really like his chest unshaven

Somehow, in my mind, "chest" and "unshaven" don't go well together. Ace, where was that detachable hairy chest for a Bond paper doll?

The Bond paper doll with removable chest fur was part of the Guardian Bond Special. Just scroll to the bottom to get your own paper Bond doll. Oh and my two pennoth. I adore a hairy chest, especially when it's done to perfection (like PB's) It's at it's best when it's not straggles and splotches, or the other extreme where it's crawling around overly to the back or shoulders. But at it's best it's sexy in a way a shaved bare one just isn't. Hmmm maybe that's why many men shave, because it doesn't look "good enough", like decideing to shave your head when all you have left is a comb over. ;D Oh speaking of chest hair... I recently saw an article that came out initially months ago and it made me laugh and laugh. ;D ;D ;D Orlando Bloom's Fake Chest HairJune-2004 Brit movie heart-throb Orlando Bloom has been forced to wear a chest wig in his latest film - because his torso is too bare. He has been asked to wear a chest wig because he lacks manly chest hair. The Troy actor is currently filming his role as Balian Of Ibelin in Ridley Scott's forthcoming film Kingdom Of Heaven about the 12th century crusades. Make-up artists on set have applied Bloom's thorax with fake chest-hair to make him appear more credible as a blacksmith-turned-warrior. Scott felt that Orlando needed some fake chest hair to make him look more masculine (ouch!) and convincing as a battling blacksmith. A film set insider says, "His chest rug is probably the best special effect in the picture."

;D ;D ;D I wonder if Scott really thinks the chest hair will help make Bloom look more manly... Back to the original (one and only ) subject, since men's features come as a full set, not as separates, I guess most of us will have to put up with whatever chest is available - unless somebody is willing to make it the main feature. I agree that perfect chest hair looks great, but in abcense thereof I'd rather have straggles and splotches than 5 o'click stubble on the chest. It's prickly enough on the face, no matter how recently said face was shaved.

Well many men wax, not just shave... less chance for quickly occuring stubble.
Note the SMA said he shaved for Grey Owl... understandable, waxing that chest might have killed him! OUCH!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure those my friends who have to go through life waxing from their ankles all the way up to the bikini area would feel his pain.

I think Pierce looked rather "naked" in GO without his chest hair. But I'm glad that he didn't go through the pain of waxing it. Very wise decision. Other than that, I think usually a hairy chest is sexier than a hairless one. Of course PB's is perfect.

I'm sure those my friends who have to go through life waxing from their ankles all the way up to the bikini area would feel his pain. I'd suggest they shave too, but if your friends have as much hair density on their ankles as PB does on his chest they probably really do need to wax instead of shave. Ace

I haven't done extensive research but alas such exuberant growth on women's legs isn't completely unheard of, and not just below the knees, above, too. And wearing a day- or two-old stubble in that very sensitive area is very irritating to the skin. Men just don't appreciate what some women go through.

Men just don't appreciate what some women go through. Clearly, Pierce does, ergo why he shaved and not waxed. For those who are wondering, waxing is not fun. I've had my brows done twice, and it ain't happening again. Now, I also noticed that Pierce said that he was working out a lot at the time, and I wondered what finally made him cut back. I guess that is the glory of not being 007 -- less time in the weight room. -- Barbara

The role called for it and he had TCA and TWINE filmed back to back right after it which also required it. Same reason why he had a canoe sent to him in California, learned to throw knives and had extensions for his hair. Some things just as some looks are needed for specific roles and some aren't. It's not as if he worked out extensively when he did The Nephew, Tailor of Panama or Evelyn and he was doing Bond before, between and after those films. He's always varied his look, he's far leaner in say '80 Days than in Noble House (one year earlier) and though he filmed Lawnmower Man and Live Wire in the same year he's far more muscular in the latter.
