I do love hearing about everyone's "first time" with Pierce, heh heh. Stories from all over the world, with a wonderful commonality. Some of us were introduced to him by others, some caught their first glimpse by accident, some got captured viewing a movie. It seems we all have a "good eye," we know perfection when we see it, and we all are hopelessly and happily hooked.
Indeed there is a wide range of ages in our little group. Yes, I feel priviledged to have been there from the very start with PB, as do my contemporaries on this board. Hard to express the thrill it was to have grown up and experienced life concurrently with this man. I consider him my generation's leader and absolute ruler as he's done us very proud. But you younger guys have three huge advantages we didn't have: the Internet, a voracious press, and DVDs/VHS. From 1986 to 1995, for instance, we had to scour the magazine covers for word of our boy, or happen upon a mention of him in TVGuide, or discover him by accident on a shelf in a video rental store. It was hard - he was beyond my grasp, and I worried about him.
As for my own story a few posts back, about how I first discovered PB, I want to make something clear: I absolutely do NOT feel embarassed about expressing my adoration for this man. In fact I'm proud of it. (Lately, when I get exasperated with some obtuse male of the species, I simply advise him to shut the hell up, watch a Pierce movie and take copious notes.) No, what I DID feel awkward about was claiming that I happen to have a somewhat Pierce-like husband. In this forum it must sound like the ultimate conceit indeed! It was one more way PB has seeped so very deeply into my life, and I just had to tell of it.
Also, I was quite touched by those of you rushed to assure me not to feel embarassed. Goodness, I could almost feel the top of my head being patted. Many thanks.

Congratulations on a Pierce-like husband, then. ;D I wouldn't think you conceited for mentioning it, just rather enviable. As for what the modern media world offers about Pierce, thank goodness for it! Absolutely essential for one's well-being!
