I'm curious.. exactly when did you became a PB Fan? My first encounter was 1997 as I watched TV with my dad and he switched over to a show called "Remington Steele" (he loves eighties shows) I never have heard of that show but I watched it and I can remember that it was the last ten minutes of Vintage Steele I thought: "That's a funny show" and decided to watch the next ep the next day..well..after a few eps I was hooked. And I still didn't know who the guy was who played RS But than TND came out and I thought "hey, that's the same guy who played RS, he's cool, let's watch some of his movies "...and the rest is history So, for me it all started with RS ;D It's funny, I can remember exactly the day I know exactly where I sat and what I ate I know it was raining... What about you?

For me it was the time TND came out in Germany (that was late 1997, I believe). He was on the German TV show Wetten, dass...?, which I'm sure you know Xenos. I was instantly impressed by him. I thought that he was really handsome and charming. Some months later, I saw someone who looked very much like him in a show called Remington Steele. I checked the TV guide and there was his name. From then on I watched the show and also didn't miss any of his movies on TV--PB had won another admirer.

I guess not I taped it and I watched it again a few days ago. Maybe I can copy it for you but I don`t have any idea how to do it with only one video player

I watched Remington Steele from the beginning and loved it. Didn't own a VCR then or know how much I'd wish I'd have taped it. Haven't seen so much of his other stuff as most of you, and am not particularly a Bond fan. My favorite post-RS film would have to be TCA. He was cute in Mrs. Doubtfire but seriously underused (not to mention upstaged by RW). I have to admit I prefer him in likable parts (as opposed to ToP). cg

The Manions of America. I only watched RS because I recognized him in the TV Guide Fall preview for new series and *drool*. Mae West said "When I'm good I'm good, when I'm bad I'm better". I love him good, love him more bad or at least very very naughty. Ace

Mae West said "When I'm good I'm good, when I'm bad I'm better". I love him good, love him more bad or at least very very naughty. I can relate to that. ;D But only because he seems so nice in real life. Wow, Yvo, I'm so glad that our historic moment has not been lost. Keep that tape, and thanks for offering to copy it anyway! Ohh, ohh, I remembered what the first movie scene I ever saw him in was: the snippet from the Q scene in TND that they showed on Wetten, dass...?! And my first RS episode was Good Night Steele. I tuned in accidently while I was getting ready for high school one morning, and almost poked the mascara brush into my eye as I saw him. LOL

Not a good idea. Besides, why in the world would you want to blind yourself after seeing him?! cg

Because never would her eyes see anything more beautiful anyway. I'll answer Xenos' questions later, when I have more time.

Because never would her eyes see anything more beautiful anyway. That did cross my mind, but then she wouldn't be able to see him again, either -- so I don't think that evens out. cg

In response to Xeno’s question, “Exactly when did you first become a PB fan?” My answer is: BEFORE I EVEN SET EYES ON HIM. Honest.
This is a little bizzare: It was 1982 and I decided to introduce my boyfriend (to whom I’ve been married ever since!) to my family. So we met my little sister at a bar after work. They hit it off beautifully but she kept calling him “Pierce.” I assumed she meant Hawkeye Pierce of the TV show M*A*S*H because of some resemblance, and the humor. But no, she was referring to this new actor named Pierce Brosnan. She had just seen “Manions of America,” which I missed. So I had to wait for the Remington Steele premiere in October to see what she was talking about. Not halfway through “License to Steele” I realized, “Oh my goodness, they’re playing us!”
Now I’m no Stephanie Zimbalist (being rather a “plain Jane” in fact), but I acted and dressed like Laura Holt, deep into the corporate feminist cause. My husband, however, could easily have served as a double for PB: same physique, coloring, wardrobe and attitude – everything but the accent. Little sister was right! There are some shots of Pierce in RS where I simply must catch my breath and marvel.
So that night in the bar was my very first, and cosmic, connection to Pierce. As Daniel Chambers would say, “Kismet."
I must say I feel awkward relating this to strangers. But I am operating here under a false name, after all. Anyway, I thought my PB-watcher sisterhood might find this at least interesting and see why I seem so proprietary at times of PB. Well, the board’s been a touch dry all week, no doubt due to the holidays.

I thought your story was touching IcyCalm, and you shouldn't be embarrassed by it at all. :-D
Now, if you want embarrassing, please read the following dopey story.
I was an annoyingly good kid. I went to bed at an early hour and did what my parents told me.
Mostly.
I would occasionally sneak down to watch some shows that were "on too late" for me to watch, by claiming I couldn't sleep, which would lead me to fall asleep on the couch.
The good news is, frequently I would catch the first half of "Remington Steele." At first I enjoyed watching the show because it was interesting, and because I enjoyed watching my mother watch Pierce. And then, somehow, I started to notice that I would get excited when he was on, and I was soon too busy watching him to watch my mom watching him.
The bad news is, I would in fact fall asleep on that damn blasted couch, leading to the following conversation the next morning.
Me: Did they catch the bad guys?
Mom: Yes.
Me: Who was it?
Mom: (fill in the blank villian)
Me: Did Laura and Mr. Steele kiss?
Mom: (more often than not) Yes, Barbara.
Me: Are they married yet?
Mom: (sigh) No Barbara, not yet.
Since she thought his Bond would be relatively tame, the first Bond movie I would be allowed to see in the theatres would have been his in 1986. Alas, I had to wait a little while longer for that to happen.
In the intervening years, my crush on Pierce would come and go. I'd see him in a couple of things, my heart would flutter, he'd fade out of the press, and I would cool down, until another picture reminded me how hot he is.
My mom, my brother and I did do a dance of joy when he finally got the role, and my brother and I (and to a lesser extent my mom), have a made a point of seeing all the Bond movies he has made.
Since I cured myself of my addiction to "The X-Files" with daily doses of Remington Steele (patten pending gang), I have been steadily drooling over that bedeviling Irish hunk.
And that, my friends, is my crush up to date.
-- Barbara

I think this is a very good question to be on the forum.
I was very littel to . I just have 10 when i saw RS the first time it past in 94 here in Portugal. The first episode (Idon´t no the name)but was when RS was in front of Laura biulding and he was there with a man that had a shirt with palm-trees.
So I think no-one have to be imbarassed to talk about it .

Babs, that's a very cute story. ;D The way you ladies have been with Pierce almost from the beginning, I almost feel like a late bloomer. LOL
