Like everyone else, I've been watching my DVDs. So I thought this would be a good time to ask automobile related questions. We may have discussed this indepth before, or maybe not. I don't see a thread for it. Maybe it wasn't even on this message board. We've change boards a few times, I know.
Exactly what kind of Auburn was Steele's car? I know it was 1936, and he says it was a "supercharged V-8" several times. Does anyone have a photo of Steele's car? Not one like it, but one of that car?
I looked up 1936 Auburns and have found several models. I can't quite tell which one he actually had from the photos.
What year was Laura's Rabbit? What type of Rabbit if there were several models that year? Does anyone have a photo of it?
What kind of car is the Limo and what year?
How many cars of each one were used during the filming of the series? Laura's Rabbit would have had to have had 100 lives if it didn't have a "stand-in". In Dreams of Steele, the poor Rabbit is pushed down a hill. When the car is upside down, we see an awfully wore tire. I know Laura wouldn't be riding around in a car with tires that bad.
In Lofty Steele, trash falls all over the hood of the Auburn, damaging the windshield. (It was repaired very quickly the same afternoon. In Love Among the Steele, the windshield was shot out, AND they took nearly the entire car apart!!!! Did it have a "stand-in", too?
Have there been any articles written about the number of cars damaged on this series? I think it would make great fodder for a commentary on a future DVD set. (optimistically speaking )
