No, I'm not talking about PAX or anything cut from the DVDs but what was left on the actual cutting room floor of the series or changed from an earlier version of the script.
This piece from an earlier draft of "Love Among the Steele" was just posted on the IMDB Steele Board by someone that got it off Ebay.
After they've listened to the tape and Laura has admitted that she wants them to be lovers and Steele's question about why aren't they making reservations for a weekend in paradise is followed by:
Laura: "Because it can't just be a quick weekend any more. If we tried that and it didn't work, I couldn't go back to us just working together. It'd be over. And I'm not ready for it to be over."
Remington: "At first you were afraid because you thought if we made love I'd run havoc with the agency. Then you were afraid you'd get in so deep you'd lose yourself. And, now you say it's because you care too much. What are you REALLY afraid of, Laura?"
(then the piece they used in the actual episode)
Laura: "Langston Drewes.
Remington: "Who?"
Laura: "Exactly! Who. A mystery man who cut a fast tango through a woman's life and left her with nothing but a scrapbook full of memories. I don't want that."
Remington: "You mean my past, don't you?"
(where scene ended before -- but here it continues)
Laura: "You want me to trust you. Isn't that a sword that cuts both ways? I can keep a secret. Why not tell me who you are?"
Remington: "Because I can't do that."
Laura: "Well, you asked and, right or wrong, I answered. Now it's your turn. Tell me, what is it you're really afraid of?"
Enter Mildred's hanger under the door.

Thanks Ace. I really like this deleted scene. Remington's question to Laura is far more embarrassing for her than the scene that was actually shot, lol!

I say it's a pity we never got those bits.

It's a shame we didn't get this, because, like a basic court bullion, it sort of reduces the ingredients down, doesn't it? LOL!
In times like these I flash on Laura and Remington breaking the Brechtian fourth wall (as Moonlighting did to a fault) and addressing the audience:
Remington: Which side of the bed did the writer get up from this morning?
Laura: I think the left.
Remington: Then today it's "fear of my mysterious past."
Laura: Got it.
I do like the phrasing "run havoc with the agency." Very Steele-ish, that. As is his unequivocal "Because I can't do that."

LOL. It does cut to the quick doesn't it? It's like that SNL Gilda Radner skit "It's always something? I think she had an excuse for eery day of the week -- "If it's Tuesday it must be his mysterious past"

Oh that's great, I mean it really would have been totally different if that scene wasn't deleted. Does anybody know of any other hot scenes deleted? Thanks anyway

There is one I really like; not a scene but a couple of lines that didn't make it to Tempered Steele.
You remember this dialogue at the motel:
Laura: "What kind of shady enterprise are you involved in this time?"
Remington: "Danny's Dessert. Some of the finest horseflesh ever to grace a quarter mile track."
I've always felt like something was missing between the question and the answer. Until I read the script and knew I was right. Initially the dialogue was supposed to be like that:
Laura: "What kind of shady enterprise are you involved in this time?"
Remington: "Stud fees."
Laura: "You're selling it now?"
Remington: "Danny's Dessert. Some of the finest horseflesh ever to grace a quarter mile track."

LOL! How could they cut that? Because they're mean. *pouts* That early "Tempered" script also managed to have Nadine paying not just for Steele's restaurant check but also for his tailoring bill. That makes the score one gown to his five suits' worth as I remember the number (cut to Steele whistling "just a gigolo, everywhere I go...") Well, not literally, but you get the idea, LOL! Speaking of the early days with motels and Danny's Dessert, I've always loved that, during their skirmishing, Steele solicitously finds Laura's shoe and she thanks him for it. Of such small moments are great scenes made. A variant on the more usual "Steele lifting Laura's hair over her coat" during hostilities -- though I think that happens, too. For those who might wish that the network censors hadn't shied away from the mention of stud fees, there's a supremely entertaining fanfic that takes that notion and runs with it called "Red Colt Steele." remylover.topcities.com/redcolt01.html Great stuff for when you're in the mood for that slightly kickier "Tempered" universe, when RS was more recognizably a rotter (though still with a certain baseline of Steele virtues).

Having the original scripts seems to be really cool. I'd like to search for them but how do I know they're the original ones? And is there some site that sells copies of them?

There's a script site that sells RS scripts for about $10 each. But I don't believe they indicate what version of the script it is. If you buy them on Ebay you're likely to get more description or at least be able to ask questions. Ace

I second the recommendation of Red Colt Steele and Steele does indeed lift her hair in the motel scene in Tempered amid the bickering. And like the shoe finding it's a wonderful touch to show the degree of phsyical intimacy they have (sans sex).
Another recent scene like this from the other side was recently brought up on Steelewatchers. In Steele Flying High as Laura is ordering him to go to the Bald Eagle meeting and Steele is saying he hates birds especially bald ones - Laura is helping getting him ready and matter of factly buttoning up his vest mid bickering.

I Laura is helping getting him ready and matter of factly buttoning up his vest mid bickering. Ace I LOVE that scene, it's one of the few in which is Laura who shows the intimacy existing between them. Ace, I've found one site that sells script but I can't say if they're the original or a mere description of the existing episodes. Maybe one of the next weeks I'll try to buy one of them. On ebay they'are selling the script for Cast in Steele, it seems to be the original one.

Are these scripts are copies or the originals? If they were actual set used originals they'd cost much more. And by copies you have to know what version of the script it is, before what changes etc. Though maybe there is only one version in existence since when they made changes they usually just added color pages etc to the script instead of retyping them all (this was the age of typewriters and there wasn't set wide use of computers as they discuss on a commentary on the DVDs) Ace

If it's something else, post the URL we can take a look and what they're saying. I believe Ace already described what thoes scripts are. Be careful with eBay. I'm not saying one shouldn't buy there; I've bought and sold a few things myself. But one needs to read description carefully and pay attention to the seller's feedback. The one for Cast in Steele that's up on eBay now may be original; it probably is, I didn't read the description too carefully. It's too expensive anyway; I think they're only $10 or $12 a piece at ScriptCity.

Every script at www.Scriptcity.com is $9.99 except License to Steele which is listed at $14.99 I have a pdf of Sensitive Steele (thanks!) if you'd like to take a look at that I can e-mail it to you. Or just upload it and other people can download it if anyone is interested. Ace

I'm sure there were many changes to the scripts before and during filming. That's the nature of making TV shows, movies, books, plays. Very few original scripts are actually performed perfectly intact. In the early days in the life of a play, the thing can be rewritten hundreds of times and the final product nothing like the initial script.
I think many of the things deleted from RS has more to do with censorship than with time constraints. Sad but true. We are gypped of many Laura/RS intimate moments, including moments that would have made more sense in the conversation.
