deadline.com/2017/05/mamma-mia-here-we-go-again-theaters-release-next-summer-1202098572/‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!’ On Universal Pictures’ 2018 Schedule by Anita Busch May 19, 2017 4:26pm ABBA fans unite … again. Ten years after the musical Mamma Mia! The Movie bowed at the nation’s theaters en route to $144.1M domestically, the gang is on its way baaaack! Universal says the original cast is expected to return, along with some new faces. The original starred Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski. The new movie will be written and directed by Ol Parker, who penned The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and will be released on July 20, 2018 — 10 years and two days after Mamma Mia! opened — complete with a soundtrack of ABBA songs not featured in the first film. Of course, they will bring back the old ones, too. The first one danced in with a whopping $609.8M at the worldwide box office, so it’s a wonder why it took a decade for another one. The location again will be the Greek island of Kalokairi, and the sequel brings back the producers from the original film, Littlestar’s Judy Craymer and Playtone’s Gary Goetzman. Craymer is also the creator and producer of the stage musical. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus are aboard again to provide music and lyrics and serve as executive producers.

I read in some webs that Mamma Mia starts to film end of July on London and Croatia (no Greece). People say that movie will be a Prequel and Sequel.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4743098/Mamma-Mia-film-makers-ditch-Greece-Croatia.htmlMamma Mia! That's not Greece, it's Croatia: Film-makers ditch Skopelos as location of Abba musical sequel in bid to save money The 2008 film was a worldwide hit, bringing in around £460 million Now Skopelos islanders are devastated the new movie is being shot elsewhere Instead the new film will be set in the Dalmation island of Vis By VALERIE ELLIOTT FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY PUBLISHED: 19:12 EDT, 29 July 2017 | UPDATED: 19:26 EDT, 29 July 2017 Fans of the smash-hit Abba film musical Mamma Mia! – filmed on the idyllic Greek island of Skopelos – will be delighted a follow-up is on its way. But instead of Skopelos, film-makers are shooting in Croatia, in a bid to save some money, money, money. The 2008 film was a worldwide hit, making £460 million, and triggered a tourism boom on the Aegean island. Now Skopelos islanders are devastated the new movie is being shot elsewhere. Instead, original cast members Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth and Dominic Cooper are heading to the beautiful Dalmatian island of Vis, which will be transformed into the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi. Christos Vailoudis, mayor of Skopelos, said: ‘The islanders are upset. The film was very important to us and for tourism.’ On Vis, however, there is much excitement, with production teams scouring for locations and hotels and villas booked to cater for 700 people. Universal Pictures, which is making the film, declined to comment but a senior production source revealed that the decision was made on the grounds of cost and bureaucracy. Unlike Greece, Croatia offers subsidies to film-makers and permits are not required before filming. The new film, directed by Ol Parker, will be released in July next year to mark the original’s tenth anniversary. British actress Lily James will play a young Streep in a prequel that forms part of the new movie.

deadline.com/2017/08/mamma-mia-sequel-jeremy-irvine-alexa-davies-universal-1202137014/‘Mamma Mia!’ Sequel Adds Jeremy Irvine & ‘Harlots’ Actress Alexa Davies EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Irvine and Alexa Davies are warming up their vocal cords for Universal’s Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! Deadline has learned that the two will join new cast member Lily James as well as returning actors Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Christine Baranski in the movie musical sequel, which will bow in theaters July 20, 2018. Irvine is set to play the past version to Brosnan’s Sam, while Davies will take on the role of a young Rosie, whose adult counterpart was played by Julie Walters is the first installment. No word yet on whether Walters is reprising her role in the follow-up pic, which goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present. Ol Parker wrote the script and is directing the sequel, which reunites producers of the original — Littlestar’s Judy Craymer, who also created and produced the stage musical, and Playtone’s Gary Goetzman. ABBA co-founders Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will return to provide music and lyrics and serve as executive producers. Universal’s SVP Production Kristen Lowe and Creative Executive Lexi Barta will oversee production for the studio. Irvine, whose breakout role was in the 2011 Steven Spielberg-directed drama War Horse, next will be seen in Farhad Safinia’s The Professor and the Madman and James Cox’s biopic Billionaire Boys Club with Ansel Elgort and Taron Egerton. He’s repped by UTA and Independent Talent Group. In addition to her role on Hulu’s Harlots, Davies was seen on Channel 4’s acclaimed comedy Raised by Wolves. She is repped by Silver Lining Entertainment, BWH Agency in the UK, and attorneys Marcy Morris and Jeff Bernstein. ====================================== If you ask me, this guy looks more like a young Colin or Stellan, than a young Pierce.

Not exactly an aspiring choice to play Pierce's younger incarnation. But ah well... A movie is a movie, they say.
