By MIKE FLEMING JR | Thursday October 17, 2013 @ 2:51pm PDT EXCLUSIVE: Ketchup Entertainment acquired the romantic comedy The Love Punch with Pierce Brosnan, Emma Thompson, Timothy Spall and Celia Imrie. The film, scripted and directed by Last Chance Harvey helmer Joel Hopkins, made its premiere at Toronto last month. Pic’s produced by Process Media’s Tim Perell and Nicola Usborne with Love Punch Limited’s Jean Charles Levy and Radar Films’ Clément Miserez. SND is co-producing, financing and handling worldwide distribution. Ketchup will release next year through Open Road Films. Brosnan and Thompson play a divorced couple whose pension is stolen by a ruthless businessman. They reunite to steal it back, and while they are racing around France, old passions arise. “The film is a perfect fit for the Ketchup slate, and typifies Ketchup’s commitment to ensure we can help bring high-quality independent entertainment to audiences in the US,” said Ketchup CEO Gareth West. WME Global’s Alexis Garcia and Deborah McIntosh teamed with Loeb & Loeb’s Nigel Pearson and SND’s Lionel Uzan to make the deal with Ketchup’s rep, Gersh’s Jay Cohen. ================= It doesn't give a date, just a general "next year"

Looking at their site that's a very new distributor with not much track record so distribution could be anything from putting their all behind a wide distribution to starting slow hoping it rolls into larger or even straight to DVD or Netflix. Their first two releases have opened on 10-15 screens. boxofficemojo.com/studio/chart/?studio=ketchup.htmketchupentertainment.com

More like well get it out in there in the best way to make a profit which is really what they have to do. Independents and independent films are being more and more squeezed out of the mainstream market - they have to get creative. Even some of the big indies have been absorbed, disbanded or made to go more "commercial" by their mother company. Focus just lost/squeezed out it's founder and president as Universal has decided it wants it to go more commercial - hence they're doing 50 Shades of Grey instead of prestige pics and quirky indies.

Such a complicated business. It's a wonder people still get to see anything not released by a big studio with a huge budget. Ace, do you have a background in the entertainment industry? Thanks for taking the time to explain this stuff.

Considering the name "Ketchup Films" I would think their slate would barely trickle out into a few theaters first then go wide without warning, but I doubt that's their strategy, LOL!
Huzzah for Pierce and Emma! The movie sounds as though it's going to land a bit silly side up, but they are two old pros at this sort of thing. I knew Emma could do comedy when she plunked her arse down naked on Jeff Goldblum's piano in "The Tall Guy." Who else saw that film? I hope you don't like Andrew Lloyd Webber, LOL!

Ketchup Films should these as their marketing slogans. Or Maybe not. First time I saw Emma playing the clown is when she was playing Nanny G., Frasier's ex wife on Cheers. Around the same time she was also funny as the foolish Duchess in the film Impromptu.

Yeah, according to IMDB, the release dates are as follows:
Switzerland (French speaking regions) - 14 Jan France - 14 Jan Denmark - 27 March UK - 18 April Germany - 8 May
I guess it'll be out in America around the same time as Germany then!
