It's being re-released on DVD in a widescreen version (full was already out but looks to be getting a re-release as well) on Oct 17. No sites I've seen have the extras listed, or if it's the same version that was out before but just with new cover art.

In Germany we already have the widescreen version. Among the features are cast interviews, deleted scenes, featurettes about the make-up and the comic sequence and a commentary. I don't know if this helps or not or whether it has been released with those features in the US as well, though.

Is this a new DVD release of "Mrs. Doubtfire"? If so, what is the street date?

According to the Barnes & Noble specs it's a re-release of the Special Edition that was discontinued for awhile (at least in WS) -- just in new holiday packaging. The release date was October 17.

I'm thinking of buy the dvd since I've it still in tape but I'm not sure 'cause I would buy it only for the extras. Anyone could tell me if pierce is also in the deleted scenes? And what about the interview, is it a good one?

londonstreet, there is at least one deleted scene with PB in it. I haven't watched the intervew/featurette thingy in a while, but as I remember it, PB is charming as always. He does a great imitation of Robin Williams alias Mrs. Doubtfire as well. I would recommend it.

The new edition is coming also here on 24th may....always if there aren't problems with fox again....
I don't know yet if it will be a 2 discs release, but this is what should contain: Deleted scenes 4 alternative scenes----and that is what seems to be different from us release, but perhaps it means your final animation with alternate backgrounds 7 long films Improvisation of Mrs Doubtfire.
I hope the price will be quite low because I'm confused about which one to buy since in the italian version bloopers are not listed, and the alternate scenes seem really to be only alternate backgrounds.

The 4 alternate scenes are probably part of the 30 minutes of deleted scenes which I think are also in the first version but there that divide them into two different categories. I'd wait until FOX actually decides to give a more specific and detailed explanation or maybe just seeing it in the store first and seeing for yourself on the back.

A Sequel? Wonder if Stu will be back? variety.com/2014/film/news/elf-scribe-tapped-to-pen-mrs-doubtfire-sequel-1201158568/APRIL 16, 2014 | 05:36PM PT Justin Kroll Film Reporter @krolljvar Fox 2000 has tapped “Elf” scribe David Berenbaum to write a sequel to the 1993 comedy hit “Mrs. Doubtfire” with Robin Williams attached to reprise his starring role and Chris Columbus to return as director. The original movie, which was based on the Anne Fine book, followed Williams’ struggling actor and divorced father who disguises himself as a elderly nanny and housekeeper in order to see his kids while his ex-wife has custody. Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan also starred. The pic went on to make more than $400 million worldwide and Fox has tried to get a sequel into production ever since. Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva are overseeing for Fox 2000. The WME repped-Berenbaum’s other credits include “The Haunted Mansion” and “The Spiderwick Chronicles.” The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

www.examiner.com/article/exclusive-pierce-brosnan-on-the-mrs-doubtfire-sequelExclusive: Pierce Brosnan on the 'Mrs. Doubtfire' sequel
April 18, 2014 On April 16 TheWrap, citing an anonymous source to close “the Fox 2000 sequel,” broke the news that a sequel to the 1993 hit, “Mrs. Doubtfire” is in the works, and that both Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus are set to return. It is fortuitous then that Pierce Brosnan, who co-starred alongside Williams and Sally Field is in the process of completing some press for his upcoming rom-com caper, “The Love Punch”. Brosnan, who played a dashing architect named Stuart ‘Stu’ Dunmire in the original film, took a brief moment to comment on the news--and hint that if the story calls for Stu to make a return and all of the stars that need to align to make any deal in Hollywood do align, there is a possibility he could be game. “Well, this is the first I’ve heard about it. I wish Robin every success with it, and he knows where to find me,” Brosnan said with a chuckle. While it seems that Brosnan would at least be open to a conversation about getting involved with the sequel, Mara Wilson, who portrayed the youngest of Williams and Field’s three children Tweeted shortly after the news broke that she will not be taking part in the sequel. “For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I.” That probably shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone, though Wilson was quite a successful child star, she made a conscious decision not to pursue her acting career, and has explained why a couple of times on her blog.
