Willow, that sequence is I think the only poorly choreographed/realized bit in the film. The scene itself and how and where it's placed in the film. I don't want to get into specifics since so few have had the opportunity to see it. But there are some SPOILERS so look out below:
What and how it transpired doesn't make much logistical sense and dramatically I think it would have been better to continue to show it in disjointed flashes -- the soldiers on horses -- golden trees -- the confrontation - the fire -- the window -- Pierce's last reaction.

From Video Business:
SERAPHIM FALLS (SONY) May 15 DVD $26.96
Adventure : Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan star in this limited-release movie, set during the Civil War. Bonuses : behind-the-scenes featurette, commentary.
===============================================================
Pretty blah extras if that's all there is. No deleted scenes though the director said he cut about 1/2 from the film for pacing and just a "featurette"

Pity that the extras are blah and sparse, but I'm just glad to get to see the film soon!!!

Wonder how hard this DVD will be to find? I always buy in person from Best Buy (often using Target's price) cause I hate waiting for a mail order to arrive, but SF might be unavailable in local stores. Any thoughts?

I doubt it will be hard to find at all. It's being released by Sony and it has Pierce on the cover holding a weapon. It will rent and it will sell unless Sony is completely fiscally nuts and proactively tries to bury it.

As to deleted scenes, didn't someone mention something about deleted scenes on the Premiere Magazine Life radio show? I remember them talking about Pierce's naked-in-the-snow scene and someone said "it's not in the movíe; wait for the DVD".

I remember them talking about Pierce's naked-in-the-snow scene and someone said "it's not in the movíe; wait for the DVD". The Director talked about it and the interviewers assumed they'd be included but when it comes down to it it's all about the studio and what they want to bother doing and paying for and if they think a) it will sell more than it will cost b) they might be able to squeeze other editions out of the DVD run with more extras later on. Shepard actually let an entire behind the scenes documentary crew film the making of The Matador. None of that made it on the DVD -- just some puff piece featurette about 7 minutes long.

DVD out in May? Okaaayyyyy......... Maybe they expect to make more money from the DVD than they did from the movie - the bozos. No deleted scenes? Say it isn't so. Sometimes the deleted scenes add sense to the movie. I remember seeing Laws of Attraction in the theatre several times and each time thinking something was missing. Then when I watched the DVD's deleted scenes section, there it was, the missing piece of the puzzle. I hate it when they do that - eliminate a vital part of the movie during editing.

According to the IMDB it's currently playing at
* Nickelodeon 4 Theatres (Santa Cruz,CA) * Century Suncoast 16 (Las Vegas,NV) * Regency Theatres Trolley Square (Salt Lake City,UT) * Regal Fox Tower Stadium 10 (Portland,OR) * Liberty Theaters (Ellensburg,WA) * Cinemark Movies 16 (Lubbock,TX) * Santikos Bijou at Crossroads (San Antonio,TX)
No information yet on where it will be playing come Friday. But 4 of these locations weren't listed last Friday so the IMDB isn't exactly up to date - so check your local papers etc.

From DVD Active: Further Details: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Seraphim Falls which stars Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Angie Harmon, and Anjelica Huston. This new western will be available to own from the 15th May, and should retail at around $26.96 in total. The film itself will be presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include an audio commentary with Pierce Brosnan, Director David Von Ancken and Michael Hanans (who? - ah the Production Designer), a behind the scenes featurette, and preview trailers for other Sony releases. Disappointing that they couldn't at least get Liam for the commentary or Jon Toll who's cinematography is actually the 3rd main character in the film. And pffft again to no deleted scenes.

Too bad there won't be any deleted scenes. A Pierce commentary is always good. Though a Pierce and Liam commentary could have turned out a ton of fun if they had done it the way they did the ABC interview.

I'm really surprised they didn't have them together on the commentary either! They really enjoyed working together so much both during and after. Yummy eye candy, the both of them! Donna

Probably a logistical concern. Liam may have already started work in Europe on his next film and they do live on opposite ends of the country. Then again has Liam ever done a commentary? Maybe he doesn't like to do them.

I saw a page announcing the availability of Seraphim Falls for download in April. I'm glad the DVD is coming out in May. That way, I get to see it in the foreseeable future. I think it already is and it explains how SF jumped from the 1500s on the movie IMDB chart to #73 last week. Up 2,730%. Hopefully that will at least translate into good word of mouth and actual sales and rentals of the DVD.

I've seen Seraphim Falls last nite and I really like it.Its very underatted and Pierce performance is superb ,I can't believe one day I will se him in a western and he nail the part so perfect.The filmmaker made a western that pay homage to classic cowboy film from the 50s and if this film was made during that time it would have been hail as one of the finest western ever.Hope when it get released thru DVD it will get a larger audience.I predict Seraphim Falls will be a cult classic within 10 yrs from now.
