There is a new welcoming letter up on piercebrosnan.com where he thanks all of us for our support of him in this last year, and then gently tells us to give up the ghost, and he's done with Bond.
But I swear with every breath that I take, if I must spend the very last drop of my blood praying and chanting for Pierce to be Bond one last time, I shall die a noble death. I regret though, that I have but one life to give for Mr. Brosnan.
Ok, the last paragraph was completely over the top, but at least it was funny.
Yes I saw it. It's nothing he hasn't said to reporters already but I gather he's still getting fan mail asking otherwise and it's nice of him anyway to write a specific personal message to his fans.
It's great to see though how excited he is about The Matador and it's reception at Sundance and being bought by Weinstein.
In the end it's really best for him to leave Bond behind. They were never going to make the Bond film that would have been good enough for his Bond or his talents. And the idea that anyone, he or fans would have to plead or campaign for him to play the role again, in a series he was carrying on his back, is rather repugnant.
I'm looking forward to seeing him stretch himself and do other things.
