Ananova
Connery leaves his mark at premiere The movie legend was not afraid of getting his mitts dirty as he dipped them in plaster for his prints to be placed as a permanent fixture in London's Leicester Square as he showed up for the screening of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. His hands will now be cast in bronze to sit alongside those of stars such as Tom Cruise, Charlton Heston, Bruce Willis and Pierce Brosnan. In the film he plays Allan Quatermain, who along with a number of other literary heroes such as Dorian Gray, Dr Jekyll, Captain Nemo and Tom Sawyer take on foes in the action movie. Connery, 73, was surprised by the size of the 2,000-strong crowd which cheered him outside the Odeon Cinema as he arrived. The actor said: "It's fantastic out there, but I wasn't prepared for such an onslaught. They were just so enthusiastic." Also at the screening were comedian and actor John Thomson and girlfriend Sam Sharpe, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Anthony Head, Olympic hero Sir Steve Redgrave and former Steps singer Faye Tozer.
