I'm..uh...really surprised by this thread. I LOVE VIntage Steele and never questioned why Laura would do a fan dance in Mexico.......I believed it. All of it. I bought that she was young and adventurous. Never thought she was that drunk. And never thought she was actually naked!! I also bought it as the reason she toned herself down to a serious business woman, and why she was so reluctant to let herself go with Steele. While not having done a fan dance naked, I can relate to Laura's story. Been there, done that, sort of thing. I mean, I know how losing someone because of just being yourself can truly put one on a totally different track. I've seen it happen far too many times. I've also seen the opposite happen. "If I'm not good enough for him, I'll never be good enough for anyone" - then comes the drugs and promiscuity, etc." Laura turned her life into a business commitment. And of course, we can't forget her adventure with the sleazy writer guy in the episode where Steele asks her if she has just discovered she has hair. I really need to watch my videos again. My memory is getting rusty. My favorites, in no particular order: Vintage Steele Steele Away With Me License to Steele Hearts of Steele Woman of Steele Maltese Steele Red Holt Steele Love Among the Steele (the old car)? The 5th Season All the ones with Daniel The one in Las Vegas And others that I know I really like but can't think of them, including the one on the island where Laura and Steele are left alone - In the Steele of the Night, I think. So many to choose from. I must get my tapes out. Just last week I was telling my daughter that the movie "Rear Window" was similar to an RS episode where Steele has one broken leg and at the end he's in bed with two broken legs!! Where is my brain? I should know this stuff.

I'm..uh...really surprised by this thread. I LOVE VIntage Steele and never questioned why Laura would do a fan dance in Mexico.......I believed it. All of it. I bought that she was young and adventurous. Never thought she was that drunk. And never thought she was actually naked!! If she wasn't really naked then how small exactly were those fans wouldn't have been a matter of importance, especially not one eliciting a gulp and a very small in response. ;D Yes another instance of Laura's exceedingly questionable taste in men! Butch Beamis! Urghhhh.. All of these men all leading up to yucky Tony! Yuliya said it would have been cruel for her to to embarrass Wilson on purpose, and I don't think she did, consciously. But I do that thank copious amounts of alcohol had to have combined with wanting to test him or push him away in some way. Because naked fan dance... is more than a case of just being yourself with a partner that doesn't understand. In other episodes we get of her past, talking about the girls of Four West (is that the name of that college group?) or in Steele Crazy After All These Years (when confronted with "You have a powerful aura" gal's rememberances of the past) , the way Laura talks about her college years and youth she was anything but wild and crazy. I guess she just had "episodes" and when she had them because she see seems to have so little balance in her life she goes over the edge quickly and into the deep end. That's the only way to understand her having sex with the odious Clay Pot (but not the yearning Murphy) when at Havenhurst, or falling for the neanderthal Butch, thinking of going to Mexico with the would be Senator (who was at least wasn't slimy or nerdy just bland) after knowing him a few days, or even that idiotic thing with Tony! Even her taste in men was extreme amd unbalanced, nerds and neanderthals. No wonder Steele through her so badly. Alone on the island: Steele Trap Broken legs: Eligible Steele Ace

I have been trying to join in this topic but the board keeps kicking me out. Others have had the same problem. the only way to try and combat it is to go into your user preferences and click on log in permanently. Hope that hekps. I liked Deiced steels ALOT and it's one of my faves but I could list 20. Love the poker game at the start, it's always fun to Syeele in his more natural element. And the entre laura goes nuts and "Don't bite me Laura" scene is great. Stronger doesn't do much for me, I like it as a lower middle of the road episode. My mind always tends to stray when the guest star and their story has that much focal importance. Or maybe that again it has more to do with Laura than Steele. But it does have two of my favorite bits "Hello nice litle American shag", Steele waking and wishing he was watching Gone With The Wind or even Heaven's gate, and the conversation about the "virtues" Laura imbued from her favourite superhero into Steele... like chastity. ;D I hate Chips. The entire thing is a poor rip off of It's A Mad Mad Mad World, and while many of the episodes were riffs on old films this one just didn't work for me. Steele and Laura seem to have been hit with the goofy stick. I hate how they act around Ms Dalrymple and Clay. Compare and contrast to the much more at least semi- adult believable way they dealt with others in Gourmet Steele. Steele's drooling and simpering like he never had a date before and Laura with Clay well just the revalation they slept together is nauseous making. The entire episode is flabby with a couple of good moments, like Steele closing the closet on Clay. But other than that it's down low low low for me along with Springtime For Steele which actually even has a couple of better character moments evenw ith entire hideous Rocky Sullivan & the mobsters, accountants, agents stuff. Steele Blue Yonder, lie I said abiove with Stronger it revolves a lot around a guest star, and this case far too much to the poit where the entire tone of the episode is affected, it's very plodding even though it has a couple of good points. Steele and Laura are both periphery characters. I understand it was written this way to showcase Jimmy Syewart but when he became ill and couldn't do it then they should have changed the script, because good as Duggan is he's no Stewart and not really warranting a "very special episode". Steele Bllue Yonder has a very nice moment, though. Pierce walking into the bar/casino where the two men are playing cards, looking very Bond-ish.

Interesting thread. Did I understand right? Jimmy Stewart was supposed to star in Steele Blue Yonder? Well, now, that puts a whole new light on the episode. Too bad he couldn't do it. It would have been so much better with him in it. I also like Diced Steele. Another I like is the one where Steele was trying to help the guy who broke into the jewelry store safe and the loot was gone. Laura and Murphy were helping the other guy who had the jewels. It's the one with the Thomas Crown Affair twist. I really need to look up these epi titles.

Yes [/i]Steele Blue Yonder[/i] was specifically written for Jimmy Stewart but he became ill and couldn't film it. A real lost opportunity. That episode is To Stop A Steele and I adore it. Steele with an underdog is always wonderful and this is one of the best pairings. Yuliya wrote a wonderful short story on that episode from Happy The Dog's point of view. Ace

:: Looks for a modest smile emoticon :: :: Doesnt' find it :: Why, thank you. Why cheesy, though? I forgot about this thread. Here's my top 14. I can't throw away more; those 14 already depend on my current mood; ask me again and you may get a different list. License to Steele Tempered Steele Thou Shalt Not Steele Steele Belted To Stop a Steele Steele Away With Me Red Holt Steele Steele Framed Blue Blooded Steele Steele Searching Forged Steele Dancer, Prancer, Donner and Steele Sensitive Steele Beg, Borrow or Steele If I absolutely had to throw away 4 episodes, though, it'd probably be Steele Away with Me and the last three on the list. Again, today, that is. And then I might add Steele Among the Living and there'd be more than 10 again.

Yeah, the mood plays a bg role in ranking RS episodes. I've started many lists, but never got to finishing one. Maybe some day...
