MKelly posted this article in the Black Adam thread, but I wanted to come in and talk about this article in another way. I know the title is kidding, BUT is also completely unfair to Kim Last, to Ace (aka Mourning Becomes Elektra), to willi_knecht, to Athena Stamos at Commanderbond.net, and to all the other women who have promoted Brosnan throughout the years without any compensation or official recognition. I tweeted the guy and I told him as much. I hope you will all do the same. Mansplaining Brosnan's return to fame-- Barbara

Per the Esquire article - I wrote it off as a fluff piece and the writer's obvious ignorance of PB's often personal creative choices in directors, writers, and actors as well as his decision to go the Indie route with his post-Bond career. He's worked with some of the best and taken risks and not all were "successful" projects. Many didn't find an audience until streaming services made them widely available. But as PB's often said in interviews "Sometimes you have choices; sometimes you don't...and I like to work." In my opinion, PB's never left the scene so no need for a "Brosnaissance" at all. Interestingly, Tom Nicholson did a PB film ranking in 2020 which is now linked with the current article and the articles should be read together. The guy is a PB fan and really does love Mamma Mia! www.esquire.com/uk/culture/film/a30595888/best-pierce-brosnan-movies-films-ranked-james-bond/?fbclid=IwAR3Ask4GFNJFcDYLa4wiZ7Ic9cZgeObTHGItjItjPRThIVR21ujPeVtyRN4 But honestly not having Thomas Crown in the top 10 and listing Goldeneye as #1 - tut tut! Now that deserves a "tweet" Also - every time a male writer puts "World's End" at the top 5 of his PB list I have to wonder. I'm a fan of Edgar Wright's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (we have them all) and find PB's performance a delight - but the film is really a "Boys' Own" outing with Rosamund Pike along for the ride. Here's another interesting take on ranking PB's films from 2022 by Myles Hughes - and again "World's End" is in the top 5 - www.looper.com/835810/every-pierce-brosnan-movie-ranked-worst-to-best/ Esquire, GQ, Collider, Screenrant, etc. are all promoting a PB return as Dr. Fate and there was a credit teaser involving the Dr Fate helm that was cut thereby giving the series a bit more flexibility in what to do going forward. Lot's to look forward to - Mel

I was in a mood last night, and kind of still am about "fluff" pieces that don't go away. Also with how people throw around the word "expert" for better and worse. It is part of a talk I am about to give. Mostly, it would be nice to see the OG fans get their due.
