Looks like the film is still in the pipeline but filming begins in 2013 www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/12-major-film-markets-impacting-384484Thailand: It's All About LocationThe Thai entertainment industry is having a good year. The Avengers took in $8 million at the local box office, and a new generation of art house talent is emerging. The twentysomething Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit is the latest beacon for the cause, his experimental film 36 winning the New Currents first-time filmmaker prize at the Busan International Film Festival in September. With its low costs, experienced talent pool (for the region) and stunning scenery, Thailand is only becoming more popular as an Asian shooting location. The boom continues in 2013 with the Nicole Kidman- Colin Firth starrer The Railway Man; Nicolas Winding Refn’s Muay Thai action film Only God Forgives, starring Ryan Gosling; and The Coup, with Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan.

I hope this doesn't mean Last Man Out is pushed off the schedule for this year. ================================================================================= www.deadline.com/2013/08/bold-films-gets-35-million-comerica-infusion-will-finance-the-coup-with-owen-wilson-and-pierce-brosnan/Bold Films Gets $35 Million Comerica Infusion; Will Finance ‘The Coup’ With Owen Wilson And Pierce BrosnanThursday August 8, 2013 Mike Fleming EXCLUSIVE: Bold Films has established its first revolving credit line with Comerica Bank, a $35 million debt facility that will cover an expanding slate of features. It allows Bold to step up and finance The Coup, an action thriller that will shoot in Thailand in November, with Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan starring. Thriller, written by brothers Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle and directed by John Erick Dowdle, is the story of an American expatriate businessman in a third world city who gets caught in the middle of a violent revolution. He must flee to safety with his wife and two small children while being hunted by a murderous rebel leader. Bold Films’ Michel Litvak and David Lancaster will produce with Gary Michael Walters serving as executive producer. Drew Dowdle will also produce the film. The film was originally put together to be financed by Crime Scene Pictures. The first film covered by the Comerica facility is How To Catch A Monster, the film that marks the writing and directorial debut of actor Ryan Gosling. Christina Hendricks, Saiorse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith and Ben Mendelsohn starred in a film that recently wrapped production in Detroit. Warner Bros will distribute the film domestically. Bold will next finance Nightcrawler, the dark thriller that stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo. Bold’s Litvak and Lancaster will produce, with Walters exec producing. Jennifer Fox, Tony Gilroy and Gyllenhaal are also producers on a film that shoots in October with Gyllenhaal playing a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. Bold plans to produce four to six films a year. Bold Films co-president Walters said in a statement: “As we ramp up our production activity, this facility will maximize the leverage on our equity and the ultimates component will allow us to realize domestic revenues much more quickly.” Added co-president Lancaster: “Standardizing our loan structure and getting volume discounts on our financing costs will accelerate our ability to mount our productions efficiently.” Company CFO Rob Mitchell spearheaded the deal on Bold’s behalf. Miles Mogulescu handled legal end of the deal. Adam Korn and Jacqueline Vega handled the deal for Comerica. “This facility was a natural progression for Bold Films as they continue to grow their business for the long term,” said Comerica’s Korn.

I hope this doesn't mean Last Man Out is pushed off the schedule for this year. Maybe they only need Pierce for a few weeks. I thought Last Man Out was scheduled to begin late in December anyway. But it does look like that might need to be pushed back. At least they got financing for this film.

I'm wondering if Pierce is still attached how he's squeezing this and "Englishman" at around the same time even if his part is just supporting and he's there for only 2-3 weeks it seems like a tight squeeze. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/lake-bell-joins-thriller-coup-644453The action thriller, also starring Pierce Brosnan, begins production in Thailand at the end of the month. Lake Bell is jumping aboard action thriller The Coup, starring Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan. Directed by John Erick Dowdle (Devil), The Coup follows an American family living in Southeast Asia who get caught in the middle of a violent revolution. They must flee to safety while being hunted by a murderous rebel leader. Dowdle wrote the script with his brother Drew Dowdle. Production is slated to begin in Thailand on Oct. 31.Bold Films is financing with Drew Dowdle, Michel Litvak and David Lancaster producing, and Gary Michael Walters executive producing. Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales. Bell will play Annie Dwyer, a woman who is loved by everyone and has a seemingly perfect family life, but wonders sometimes if she should be happier than she is. Bell wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film In a World..., which won best screenplay at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The film about the life of voice-over actors was picked up by Roadside for U.S. distribution at the fest, and has earned $2.7 million domestically to date. Bell recently wrapped sports drama Million Dollar Arm and currently stars on Adult Swim's Children's Hospital. She's repped by UTA, The Burstein Company and Ziffren Brittenham.

It's interesting to see Brosnan doing more spy roles, as that would be a slap in the face for Barbara Broccoli for treating him like that when he was in the tuxedo of the infamous 007. Now, with "November Man" already entered post-production, I guess Brosnan's focus will be on "The Coup" which will begin shooting in 15 days ahead of schedule. I can't wait to see the first-look photos. In my honest opinion, Brosnan should do more action movies than appear in romcoms, he already had enough with the latter.

The Coup, from director John Erick Dowdle and starring Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan, and Lake Bell, has begun shooting on location in Thailand. The film tells the story of an American family living in Southeast Asia who find themselves caught in the middle of a violent military uprising. Wilson and Bell play the American husband and wife, and Brosnan a heroic government operative. Dowdle co-wrote the script with his brother Drew Dowdle. Bold Films is financing, with Drew Dowdle, Michel Litvak and David Lancaster producing. Lancaster previously worked in Thailand on Nicolas Winding Refn’s Bangkok-set art house exercise in dreamy violence, Only God Forgives, starring Ryan Gosling. Thai-based production company Living Films, which has worked on previous Thailand-set Hollywood projects including The Hangover 2, is facilitating the shoot. “The producers of the The Coup had a wide choice of countries in which they could have based this production,” said Living Films founder and executive director Chris Lowenstein. “The fact that they chose Thailand is a great testament to the skills of the Thai crews and the resources that Thailand offers. We are delighted to help bring this project to the screen.” Lancaster said he was back in Thailand because his prior shooting experience had been “wonderful.” But he added that Thailand should consider creating a tax incentive if it wants to attract more foreign productions. “It is definitely an issue, as more and more countries have moved into the area of incentives. We only hope that Thailand can follow suit as the country already has a terrific crew and equipment base in place,' he said. Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales of The Coup.

If I'm not mistaken, Pierce is filming How to Make Love Like an Englishman for a little while longer in LA, so I'm not sure when he's heading to Thailand to film his part.

I saw that tweet and it just doesn't seem possible from a time perspective. I think flights from LA to Thailand are about 20 hours long, and Pierce was filming most of the day in Malibu (at least from the pic from Jessica's IG & the one I just posted from an extra's FB post). Hmmmmm. Hopefully pictures will surface soon, if that is the case.
