Thanks. Some Stephen King fans are grumbling that PB is too old to play the title role. I've never read anything by SH except Misery, so I have no idea whether that's a valid criticism or not. I still wish that he'll return to TV in a RS movie, but I suppose that project is dead in the water, like that Thomas Crown sequel.

In response to your comment, Sandy, I've just finished reading Bag of Bones, all 732 pages of it. I had never read any Stephen King, but I wanted to read this because, naturally, Pierce was doing the mini-series. I really loved the novel and hope that the TV version is done well.
Pierce's character in the novel is 40 years old. He gets involved with a 21-year-old widow and her three-year-old daughter. Noonan has a romantic interest in the young woman over which he's conflicted, thinking he's too old for her. If this romantic interest is retained in the TV production, he is definitely too old. However, IMHO, that plotline could be removed from the TV film without affecting the heart of the novel.
I saw on IMDb that the actress portraying the child is, in reality, seven years old. The synopsis of the novel on that website is quite accurate if you are interested.
I can't wait until A&E airs this. I hope we're not disappointed!

Thanks for your response, greyowlette. I don't care for horror, so I don't think I'll be reading the novel any time soon. I hope they make the love interest a bit older, someone who is in her 40's or even beyond. PB himself had picked up Rene Russo as an age-appropriate love interest in TCA. but I guess he doesn't have that much clout in this production. PB and barely pubescent Denise Richards in TWINE still gives me nightmares.

Melissa George will be playing the mother and she's in her mid 30s - so the same 20 yrs or so age difference. Annabeth Gish is playing his late wife and she's mid 40s so it just looks like they just aged everyone up so it should be fine since the main thing is he's a grieving widower who's conflicted about getting involved with a much younger woman.
Denise Richards regardless of age tends to do that but she was 28 and was born I think the same year as Isabella Scorupco from GE - she just comes off much younger because well she's DR. ;-)

I checked her IMDB page, and you're right, she was 28 during TWINE (born in the same year as I am, in fact --- hey I'm eleigible to be PB's love interest! ). When I first saw TWINE I thought that she was like 19 or so. I remember watching a news conference in which PB, ironically described her character as a nuclear physicist runnning around in hotpants, "because this is a Bond movie". To me, PB has always have a "mature" persona, even when he was young, and he needs a leading lady that can balance that.
