I uploaded a 305mb avi file of the complete original episode Steele Trying (yes with Tony Bennet's music) at Spread ItThe file will remain up as long as it's downloaded once every 2 weeks. It's a huge file so I won't be re-uploading it once it expires. It took me 7 hours to upload even on DSL because Spreadit is s-l-o-w to upload. I know the size is killer for those on dial-up so be sure to use a downloading program that allows for resuming. You might need one even on high speed. Enjoy

I'm attempting to download it right now. From what it's telling me, it might take a very long time. Thanks for uploading it for us. I see it's .avi file. Is that the one I had trouble downloading before because there was something missing on my pc? I'd hate to spend hours, just to find out I can't get it. The other one "Inner Smile" with all the lovely kissing scenes works for me now, so I have lots of Christmas faith that the above download will work too. It's still downloading and it looks like it will be doing so until the morning!

Avi like mpg is the most common video file and most players should play it unless the avi was encoded with divx which sometimes requires a separate download. I can't recall if I used divx for this compression (I think I did) but since you just successfully downloaded a divx codex and were able to play that music video then this should be no problem.

It took a bit over 5 hours to download the file. It plays perfectly until about 35 minutes into it (when they are in the diner with the old guy) when it causes the computer to freeze. Ugh! Guess I'll have to try to download it again. Twin Frostys in Chalmette, Louisiana Post-Katrina, of course

Sorry. I don't know why it does that. There shouldn't be anything in a video file that should do that unless it's sucking up too much memory on your computer because of it's size. Then reloading another version wouldn't help. It's an avi file so it wouldn't most likely play at all if it was corrupted (unlike mpgs and rm that can play even if only the beginning in there and not the end)

I don't know. The sound plays all the way through, but at about 35 minutes, the picture stalls and so does my computer. After the video finishes, I have to restart the computer to get things rolling again. I watched the DVD version while playing it the original version on the computer, so I was able to hear the different songs. Strange that is stalls like that. PS - did you notice in the snowman picture that I posted above, the sign on the house says the SPCA visited and found 1 giraffe and 4 elephants. ;D OMG!!!! Too funny

Love the sign! I think it's a matter of computer cpu/ram power. Before I got my latest computer videos stalled all the time, just not enough power. I re-uploaded just the Steele Trying -While We''re Young- dancing clip with original Bennet Music. (7mb) www.4shared.com/file/1397066/24f51e46/steeletrying-dance.html

I think the problem with the first Steele Trying video is that my computer is badly in need of a burial plot. I need a new hard drive and the old one is operating on borrowed time. It's only 15 months old. I didn't think to try my CD copy of Steele Trying on my daughter's computer. I'll have to make a note of it. Thanks so much for the dance clip. How lovely and how romantic! I'm swooning. They are such an attractive couple. And the song is perfect for them.

Sorry to hear about the HD. 15 months though? It should probably still be under warranty. Yes?
Have you tried it on your daughter's computer yet?

No to both. It's no longer under warranty and no, I haven't tried it on my daughter's computer yet. The problem with the hard drive is that it overheats and that destroys it. First, I'm told that the problem originates with a faulty placement of the fan. I'm told it blows into the case instead of outside, therefore causing it to overheat. Now that alone would make you think Dell should do something about it, but since the warranty has expired, they refuse to help. Now the reason the warranty lapsed, was because Dell mailed me a notice, but after Hurricane Katrina, our mail delivery was sporadic at best, and much of the mail was delayed for months. so by the time the notices arrived, it was after the expiration date, so I didn't bother with it. I had my mind on other things at the time. Another factor was probably the heat in the house after the hurricane. The computer was in a hot, unairconditioned home for a month. No electricity, but over 100° heat for many weeks. I did notice some problems with it but ignored it. So then I could no longer ignore the situation when the hard drive gave out and the blue screen appeared, not letting me do anything with it. I made several calls to Dell (I have an On Call policy) and finally we just gave up and reformatted the whole thing, causing me to lose weeks' worth of files, thus, weeks' worth of work. Now I'm painstakingly saving everything to a disk or CD. I don't know when the HD is going to fail, so I'm being cautious. I'm going to get the new HD this week. I'll let you know when I check it on my daughter's PC.

It works! It works! It works!!!!!! The Steele Trying video works on my new computer! It ran completely through the entire episode, no pauses, no freeze frames, just one fun show. Thanks so much for sharing the video with us. My favorite scene is at the Presidio when they find the stabbed guy, and they play the song about the "other man" and the look on Steele's face is priceless. Lots of fun. Thanks so much!!!! edited to correct a typo

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the last original airing of Remington Steele I've uploaded Steele Trying in wmv form -- with the original Bennett music and using the DVD quality video (of course at this size it's not DVD quality anymore but it's better than the VHS one I uploaded before) Enjoy.
It stays up for one month after the last download. It's 260mb so unless you have a resuming program it's probably not for those on dialup (at least not if your connection times out or you want the full download)
Edit: Link is now deleted
