-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I started with the new topic... What do you think about soundtracks in Pierce Brosnan´s movies? I love some of them, mostly the one from the Thomas Crown Affair and then from Laws of Attraction. I think both have a great music... But still, the only problem is, I cannot find it anywhere to buy it, so I listen it only when I´m watching the movies or when I found it at web -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kristýna Jamie Kabzanová

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think my favorite soundtrack of his is Noble House. You see it on eBay from time to time, and it is perfect blend of all the great music from the film.
I am wondering if they would ever do an RS inspired soundtrack...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Considering the reason why it took them so long to release RS on DVD is music copyright, I wouldnt' hold my breath for the soundtrack. On the other hand, supposedly, the copyright issues have been resolved...
Noble House soundtrack, eh? I don't even remember the music; maybe it's time for a rerun. I didn't know a soundtrack was available - at least I don't remember seeing it on Amazon.
Stars007fan, some soundtrack CDs (including that of The Thomas Crown Affair) are available from Amazon, who claims they send anywhere in the world. Providing you can afford it, of course - they're not cheap.
For me, I don't think any sountrack of any PB movie can top TCA - Cabana la Cratchie, Sinnerman, and Windmills of Your Mind make a winning combination, and the visual that goes in my mind only makes it better - that perfect house that only hundreds of years of grooming can provide, the wonderful scene with the bowler hats, which wouldn't be the same without the accompanying music, and I've always loved Windmills, of which I own 4 (four!) different versions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've seen the Noble House from sale from time to time but it's OOP, just like those from The Deceivers and Fourth Protocol. Is the Grey Owl score still in print?
TCA is my favorite soundtrack for a PB film though the album is on the skimpy end.
TOP is a great soundtrack as well with a more representative album.
TND is a great soundtrack but the album only covers the first half of the film.
ATS doesn't have any of the Schifin score from the film, just the songs but they're great songs, it's a fun album.
I also enjoy the soundtracks to DAD, TWINE and Evelyn

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only soundtrack of a Brosnan film that I have a good sense of (by virtue of owning the soundtrack and giving it multi-listenings) is TCA. (Though, you're right Ace, the CD does skimp, but still, you get the idea. )
It's so well mounted in terms of style and mood even in the use of songs or non-original bits (the title tune, snatches of Kurt Weill, that great cover of Sinnerman by Nina Simone, and the romantic / exotic Everything is Never Quite Enough by Wasis Diop). The mix feels jazzed and sleek and sexy and Bill Conti's score is really fluid, subtle, and playful: three qualties I'd have been hard pressed to associate with most of his back catalogue. I met him a couple of times, years ago, but not since TCA. (I should prostrate myself for slamming him, he's a really nice guy). I wish I had the opportunity again so I could thank him properly for his career highlight, LOL!
TOP would rank as my second favorite; it has a nice lush feel for geography and the main theme has the flavor of a tango on top plus that witty, black humored counterpart in the cello and bass line. I love the "you don't dance as well, do you?" music by the Panamanian pop group, and the ballad about the "disappeared" is a bittersweet thread running through it.
I have a kind of retro jones for Laws of Attraction, the main theme, cues and variations, much less so, the rest. The melody and orchestration there is bright and Gershwin-esque and I love the tricksiness of the rhythm, though that's more Bernstein, I guess. Multi-tasking, LOL!
David Arnold's Bonds never made too much of an impression on me, though they have nice moments, mostly the quieter, less Bond-branded ones. There are other PB movies with good stuff. Danny Elfman's music for Mars Attacks! is downright pitch perfect, especially the track over the opening credits with all those spinning silver spaceships. You have to admit, he's the perfect muse for Tim Burton. I like the riffy 70's score of The Long Good Friday. Very much of the era. Speaking of Lalo Schifrin (ATS), don't parts remind you of him? (And you thought I wasn't paying attention to anything but the First Irishman during the end credits.) I wish I had a good memory for Noble House. If only my video copy wasn't so atrocious I might go back to see what I missed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank fot the Amazon, maybe I´ll say to my daddy that the soundtrack will be a nice present to the end of the school year
Like nearly everyone, my favourite soundtrack is to the Thomas Crown Affair. I love Sinnerman (once, it was my favourite song), Windmills and all the music around... It´s completely great!!! I love the way, they´ve done the music and I love the way the music was given to the movie... The most Sinnerman and when Thomas is going thru the gallery...
Then my favourite is the one from LoA, maybe because I really love this style of Irish music. Well, I love whole Ireland, not only the songs...
And then maybe The Tailor of Panama, which someone here said... And Evelyn, After the Sunset with a little different music, a little more hip hop, funny, I really enjoy for example Tempted to Touch, which I downloaded from the official AtS site...
And some Bond´s soundtracks are maybe good, for example nice are the songs like Golden Eye, The Worls Is Not Enough... and yeah, I enjoy Die Another Day too and all the James Bond themes!!
Still, it looks like I enjoy soundtrack from all Pierce´s movies!

Yes, amazon.de (where I bought mine from) still has it.
I didn't mention the Bond soundtracks because I can't say I like the whole of one of them, there would just be some songs here and there that I enjoy. LOA also has a couple of nice pieces.
