As of today it's not playing anywhere in NY. But at least I got to see it before it left though I'd wanted to see it again. The distribution for this film is scatter shot and half arsed to say the least -- which is still better than it's "marketing" has been.

Myrtle, Amazon still has free shipping for orders over $25 but that's just for shipments within the U.S. Also many countries have additional taxes on good shipped from outside so it can really add up. Then again the U.S. dollar is so cheap now compared to the Euro and Pound that some of the costs are offset in the exchange rate. Ace Thanks for clearing this up. When I responded I wasn't thinking "international". Silly me.

Oh no, Myrtle, you are not silly. You are just lucky enough to have some movies earlier. I'm really looking forward to Seraphim Falls, and it finally will be available here (though watching it on a big screen would be more than terrific). International greetings Susan

I'll have to see Seraphim Falls on DVD too because it came NOWHERE near me. Closest theatre was 500 miles! So I'll be waiting for the DVD release just like you. I agree. Seeing PB on a big screen larger than life would have been :::::swoons::::: heavenly. Life is tough.

It hasn't hit most of the major cities -- and I have no idea if it ever will but it's still moving into some cities even as it's shedding lots of theaters.
Feb 23- it opens in Las Vegas!
March 2-- it goes to Portland, San Antonio and Salt Lake City.
So it's still staying mainly in the West.

From New York Cool because I can't resist -- Pierce Brosnan -- Horse Whisperer. The Interview with David Von Ancken:[Regarding the horses] We had wonderfully trained horses who could fall down on command and they could also hobble. The ASPCA was with us all the time and the horses were very well treated. Pierce Brosnan had a scene where the horse had to stay down and the horse kept getting up every twenty seconds. He did something with his eyes and the horse stayed down. The Interview with Pierce Brosnan (responding to the above) Question about whether he is a horse whisperer: Pierce Brosnan: I’m Irish.

Sigh. That's all he'd have to do with me and I'd stay down too!!! Is it me or has it all been very quiet with Pierce lately? No news at all? Is he still in London? Did he go home at all....to whereever Keely and the boys are now? (Hawaii I assume.) Miss you, Pierce!!!!! Donna

I think he went back to Berlin for the Berlinale Industry screening and the distribution right sales of Butterfly On A Wheel. That should mean his step-father is doing better and he might be back home by now.

Too bad though that his return to Berlin seems to have escaped my attention completely. Anyway, his dad is better and that's much more important. A big LOL on the horse-whisperer story (my guess is it was a female horse ) and the "I'm Irish" answer. I love this man!

I just found out that the release date for Seraphim Falls on DVD is May 15, 2007. Not much information is available about it yet though. You can pre-order it at Amazon.com and a few other online DVD stores. This is a bit of a bummer, as it probably means it will start disappearing altogether, so I will not get to see it at the theatre now. But at least it won't be too much longer before I have a copy in my hot little hands to watch over and over again, as many times as I please. Ellen

So soon? Is it really sooner than everything else or does it only seem so?

It's actually not that soon, and you see that other - many wide- Jan and Feb releases still in theaters have near the same release date. Oct and Nov releases are coming about about now. The DVD window is now an average of about 4 months (maybe less) from when first released to when it comes out -- often films ares still playing when the DVD comes out. Some have the date set almost the day they're released.
The Matador was actually scheduled to first be released in April but was pushed back to July only because Weinstein wanted to spread out their films and profits to the next quarter. Its really to combat piracy (some films are available on the net and on street corners even before they're released in the theaters ) but I think it all hurts how much people are willing to go to the theater in the first place if they can just wait a couple of months and get the DVD or see it on PPV or cable.

I saw a page announcing the availability of Seraphim Falls for download in April. I'm glad the DVD is coming out in May. That way, I get to see it in the foreseeable future.

Maybe they think the movie will do better with Westerners, thinking that we Southerners, Easterners and Northeasterners (except NY, NJ, and Connecticut, who will get to see it) don't have a yen for the Old West. Don't they know that PB is the draw, not the setting? Who does their marketing anyhow?

I went to the Fox Tower in Portland today and watched SF. Half full for this small art house.
I thought PB's performance was outstanding, although I wanted to poke him into going in that burning house to save the family.
