Irish celebrities help the family October 3, 2004 1:17am Europe Intelligence Wire
UNICEF Ireland is launching a fancy new tabletop book, For the Children: A Celebration of Irish Families, with original photographs, by Robert Doyle, of some of Ireland's best-known faces in intimate family situations.
Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Brian O'Driscoll, Sonia O'Sullivan, Bob Geldof and Samantha Mumba are among the 64 personalities from all walks of Irish life involved in the project. Quinn's favourite is a shot of Minister of State Tom Kitt with his rock star son David Kitt, jamming away on their guitars.
For the Children has an initial print run of 10,000, although Quinn feels that another 5,000 may need to be rolled out.
It is hoped that Unicef Ireland will raise about 500,000 from the project for Unicef Ireland's 'Growing up Alone' campaign, which is supporting the 15 million children already orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV/Aids in sub-Saharan Africa. The book costs 30 and is being distributed through Eason.
