Grand Rapids, MI (TAKE FIVE & CO) -- Remington Steele ... James Bond ... over the years, Pierce Brosnan has played some iconic roles in TV and film, but NEVER has he played a role where it called for him to have four legs. In the new movie, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" Brosnan takes on dual roles - one as "Chiron", the Greek mythological centaur creature ... half man, half horse.
Stephanie Webb, of "Take Five & Company" and "E-Block" had a chance to sit down with the entire cast of the film in New York City for the very first movie junket inside the Empire State Building. An interview from last month on Percy but the fascinating part is what else he brought up when asked. My guess which the interviewer and the other woman didn't even guess at is "A Single Man". From what I've read Firth MAKES that film more than Ford or the screenplay and Firth really needed this role to get out of Darcy-hell but if it's the role Pierce turned down well damn....

My first guess, too!!! But I recall Brett Ratner saying Pierce felt really uncomfortable when a guy (Woody Harrelson) put sunscreen on his back ... maybe that's one of the reasons why Pierce turned it down!?

Thanks for the video. Oh, could you download that very short MTV video where Pierce does the Polanski impression?
I take Brett Ratner's quote with a huge grain of salt. (though I wouldn't want Woody putting sun screen on me) Pierce has said he would have been comfortable doing more in The Matador with men. And he's played gay before (Entangled) and had male seduction scenes in Long Good Friday and Fourth Protocol. And this is a story very much about love and grief - and middle-age - beautiful, heartbreaking and so universal.
If he turned it down it was more likely because of the script (Isherwood's book is a classic but the script might not be), Ford as a first time director (film looks stunning though and I love the clips I've seen - which unlike the trailer actually show George is not in love with Julianne Moore - grrr) or a conflict in his schedule (why he couldn't do the Coen Bros movie and Clooney got the role). Otherwise he wouldn't have regrets.

Oh, right! I somehow forgot about that and only the Ratner quote came to my mind right away. IF it was really "A single Man" that Pierce turned down, you are probably right and if was because of the script or his schedule.

MTV videos can't be directly downloaded but the one where Pierce imitates Polanski was posted earlier in this topic a few posts above.
I've tried the CBS & PBS links before and couldn't capture them. The Movieset and I think CNN clips I believe can be captured in your TEMPORARY CACHE if you're using IE
