I guess then this time it was even more butchered because I saw the first broadcast and there already were no gliders and no sex. What's interesting about that top on the beach is that at the angle in that scene it wouldn't matter if Catherine wore one - the camera never goes more than a couple of inches below her shoulders anyway. By dirty minds would still know she was topless. You can't see much of her top in the close-up though because it's in full screen and it's cropped at the bottom -- so yeah, why bother. Except there's also a shot with her in the background wth him talking where you can see she's topless though it's hardly in focus. Ace

Smudge, like the flute on the boy. The take in which Catherine was wearing the top was filmed first. Then there wasn't a reason to show below the shoulders, so they found whatever angled suited better at the moment. Then McT talked Rene Russo to take off the top - she'd been uncomfortable with it, but realized he was right - for Catherine, who lived in Europe, would be out of character to sun-bathe clothed on a private beach. (I wonder if she walked down that mountain topless as well. ) And of course, when they did the topless take, they got the better angle to reveal, er, more of her talent, as Derek from Scene Steelers would put it.

McT said on the commentary that he didn't tell Rene about it being a topless scene until she was on the beach because he thought she might eb nervous but it turned out she didn't have any problem. That they only shot the top scene later when execs were nervous about the nudity, and then showed two versions of the film to gage audience reaction.

Really? I don't remember that part of the commentary well; I thought I read this story in an interview or an article somewhere. Maybe it was a figment of some journalist's imagination.

Yeah I just listened to it recently and there's a funny bit when he recalls one of the test audience's reaction was "with her topless I couldn't concentrate on what they were saying" and McT laughing and saying "that's the point!"

I didn't mean I didn't believe you; I just didn't remember that part. I seldom rememer commenatries well, maybe because I usually do other things when listening to them - iron, sew, mend, rearrange, etc. And sometimes I remember but wish I didn't. I'll never look the same at the scene in TWINE in which Bond dives to the submarine... But I digress. I realize that I'm not a male from test audience but I remember my reaction to that breast the size of a theater screen - it was the same as of Detective McCann when he saw the statue in Crown's house. It was not the best shaped breast ever and it didn't gain any being magnified.

It looks like Steele is coming back to German TV on July 27th. So you may not get the DVDs in Germany on that day but you do get the show. I don't think it's a coincidence that over the last year it's come back to Canadian, French and German TV, and even Brit TV for awhile. Of course most die hards won't wait for DVD issues in that country but they're probably coming soon. And those countries also don't have to wait for seasons 2-4. Ah and just saw that Sparkling already posted this in Steele.

Uncut... Sigh... And the adjective in " world broadcast premiere" only adds insult to injury.

Uncut... Sigh... And the adjective in " world broadcast premiere" only adds insult to injury. My favorite part is that athough it says limited commerical interruption the film is only 2 hours and 10 minutes long and the slot is 3 hours-- so 50 minutes of "limited" commercials" Thats' why man invented DVDs though I'll still watch it live because well that's just different. TWINE I believe is on this Sunday night on Spike. I saw an ad for it while fleeing LTK and AVTAK back to back on the Spike Bond DVD marathon. Ace

My personal commercial of the week is some stuff that bosts it can "lower cholesterol (or some other equally frightful substance) to 52% - that's almost a half!"

In Germany: Tonight July 8, 2005
RTL 20.15 Uhr Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand. Wer ist der Schönste im ganzen Land? In Abwandlung des Schneewittchen-Märchens ist heute einmal der schönste Mann gesucht. Sonja Zietlow will ihn in der Show "Die 10 schönsten Männer" ermitteln.
And for CG who just has to know (via Bablefish)
Show RTL 20,15 o'clock
Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who is the most beautiful one in the land? In modification of the Schneewittchen fairy tale today once the most beautiful man is looked for. Sonja Zietlow wants to determine it in the show "the 10 most beautiful men". But who it could be? The continuous subscriber on this title, actor Brad Pitt? The aging beau Richard Gere or perhaps nevertheless rather George Clooney? Naturally also Tom Cruise, Pierce Brosnan, Antonio are applicable gang-race, David Beckham or Jude Law. so far the international Riege. From Germany the no longer completely rope-fresh Sky participates you Mont and Til Schweiger. Tomorrow we know more.

Okay, here's the result. According to the users of RTL's celebrity website, the 10 sexiest men are: 1. George Clooney 2. Pierce Brosnan 3. Brad Pitt 4. Antonio Banderas 5. Tom Cruise 6. Til Schweiger 7. Elvis 8. Sky DuMont 9. Lenny Kravitz 10. David Beckham Not entirely satisfactory, but it could have been much worse.

Still a very nice showing considering Germany can't seem to be bothered to properly play his films in theaters. There was a vote by RTL users? Why didn't we know about this so we could stuff the ballot er vote accordingly. But look at Elvis go -- dead over 25 years and he's still sexy! Ace

I didn't know about this vote, otherwise I would have encouraged everyone to...ahem...participate. I was hoping for him to be at least in the top three. I don't care much for any of the others, except maybe Clooney is kind of cute. But that doesn't mean he can just go ahead and take the top rank! All in all I get the impression that con-men have a great sex-appeal.

How funny would that be??? I've been reading all your comments about NBC's airings of TCA. I knew it would be chopped, and since I have my very own copy, I didn't watch. Now if some guy told me he nailed several women, I be wondering if he: - killed them
- arrested them
- caught them lying
edited for the usual typos
