Dressed to kill

Mmmmmm. agreed. SF Gate: Dressed To Kill: Stars knock 'em dead in colors that look like springMost of the men soundly rejected bow ties this time, favoring white shirts and black ties with their tux jackets, the way Michael Douglas and Bill Murray did; there was a smattering of silver ties (Pierce Brosnan looked suave in a silvery blue tie). There were only a couple of holdouts for the all-black look chosen by Tim Robbins, who looked more boyish than usual in his crew cut. "Queer Eye's'' Carson Kressley, not surprisingly, pushed the envelope in a pale pink tux jacket, and looked adorable.

Is this going to degenerate into a who-looked-awful-at-the-awards thread, or should I take that to "off topic" (or whatever it's called)? I vote for Meryl Streep in the category of Serious Actress Most in Need of a New Fashion Consultant. cg

there was a smattering of silver ties (Pierce Brosnan looked suave in a silvery blue tie). The tie on the subject in question may be silvery but I seriously dislike the color - it looks purple, not blue. Maybe it's my current screen settings, though. More serious research is needed.

I vote for Meryl Streep in the category of Serious Actress Most in Need of a New Fashion Consultant. cg Meryl Streep should share co-honors with Diane Keaton... ugh that white mummy outfit. But the worst outfit of last night belonged to the usually on spot Nicole Kidman... atrocious... like a bad ice skating outfit... and she kept pulling on it showing she was uncomfortable and that head band... blech! And Peter Jackson, a white shirt with dress pocket(!) , with bow tie, under a too small ill fitting black suit and uncombed hair... and he just got $20m to direct and produce King Kong! Though..... still might have been better than Elijah Wood's green velvet elf suit or Johnny Depps pimp hat and outfit. Yuliya, the tie looked lavendar to me on TV but in this shot it looks like like a mix between lavendar and silvery blue.... either way I loved it. Ace

Meryl Streep should share co-honors with Diane Keaton... ugh that white mummy outfit. I guess I noticed her dress less because I was so appalled by what looked like a train wreck pretending to be a hair style in her case. That must have been when I was channel surfing, but it certainly sounds charming. Missed the first two of those, too - but boy, you're right about Johnny Depp! Have to agree with Ace about the tie/shirt combo. cg

On my screen at home the tie still looks more like lilac than anything else, but now the colors are a lot better. Still, I prefer tie-suit combo with a contrasting (but matching) shirt. Tell you what - you keep this and I'll take the one with Woody.

I am so glad I am not the only one who thought Nicole Kidman's gown was ridiculous! Either you wear a dress like that, and you let everything out, or you wear a normal gown.
*shakes head*
Can someone please explain why Sarah Fergueson was there?

Tell you what - you keep this and I'll take the one with Woody. Well that outfit with Woody isn't suitable for the Golden Globes! Lilac, lavendar, silvery blue doesn't matter... looks fantastic... and the people on allt.gossip.celebrities agree with me. Best Looking Men at the CG'sPierce Brosnans' outfit was fantastic. Looked like a lilac satin tie against the faintest of white lilac shirts, and his tuxedo had a sort of ribbing on it that made it look pinstriped, but oh so subtle********** yep, Brosnan looked just about perfect. i even like his gray at the temples
********** I was trying to figure out his shirt-colour, and settled on a touch of lavender - or was my teevee not registering correctly?
Thanks for the confirmation. What an elegant dood! (So many other guys looked like they were in Rentals, as if to dress nattily would make them appear fey... a little insecure, are we?)
Pe (Appalled at the spate of the silver/gray funeral-ties)*********** etc. Ace

Blech. As for Fergie... I have no idea. Maybe they needed a last minute replacement for the jettisoned Paris Hilton. Ace

Gee, I'm sorry I missed this dress! Where can I see a picture of it? Also thought S.J. Parker's was rather unattractive.
And if anybody besides me caught the glimpse of Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia) when her nomination was anounced, she could have done with less than bright red lipstick and more color to her dress. But I thought it was great she was nominated in her first season; she deserved it.

Thank you for sharing, M-me Moderator. Now we can think of you in our nightmares. It's not that bad, though, IMO - yesterday I attended my kids' dance competition, they were all dressed like that. Maybe Ms. Kidman just got the wrong dress for the occasion. Later edit. On second thought, those dancers looked better than Nicole Kidman. After all, they were 20-30 years younger and didn't seem out of place.

First of all and most importantly, Pierce looks very, very handsome in that outfit. I agree with you on Sarah Jessica Parker's and Nicole Kidman's outfits--yuck! There were several other outfits that I didn't particularly like, but I can't remember all the names to match. What I really liked was Renee Zellweger's gown. She looked great. Xen, I think Fergie said was there because she'll be getting a talk show on British TV. She said she wanted to have a look at the GG's because she might be getting one herself one day. (Yeah, right. )

Spakling Blue: Just re-adding Sparkling's post which I deleted hoping it would fix the topic and it doesn't.... it now posts a negative post number without it. But I am still seeing and using the reply buttons etc.... Tried moving it and still stayed the same. I logged out and the buttons dissapeared. So I'll open a new topic. Ace
