Brosnan Too Big For The Bond Gangwww.channel4.com/film/newsfeatures/news_story.jsp?storyId=2607JAMES BOND star PIERCE BROSNAN shuns the company of his 007 film crew - preferring to stay alone in his trailer. According to Britain's DAILY MAIL tabloid, the Irish hunk loved sharing jokes and conversation with his Bond colleagues when he first joined the spy franchise, but insiders now claim he's too much "the big star" to mix with them. A source says, "When Pierce started out as Bond - on GOLDENEYE - he was part of the gang. He was happiest hanging out with the rest of the guys in between scenes, laughing and joking, playing cards or whatever. "But nowadays it's different. He's very much the big star and is more likely to be found in his trailer than sharing a joke with the rest of the lads." *** Yeah, yeah... Everybody knows he doesn't have to learn his lines or otherwise prepare for filming.

And they print the big news now? When the filming for the last Bond was over more than a year ago and the filming for the next Bond won't start for a while? What movie/star did they confuse it with this time?

I love the UK tabloids... there's no Bond news too out of date, too unfounded or too piddling not to report. Next up....News at 11..."Brosnan confesses to watching the Lingerie Channel" in his trailer! ;D ;D ;D Ace

"But nowadays it's different. He's very much the big star and is more likely to be found in his trailer than sharing a joke with the rest of the lads." Maybe he's heard all of their jokes after 4 movies and now they need to get some new material before he rejoins him -- especially if they're following him around all of his other movies as well -- or maybe just those that film in "Bond" locations like the Bahamas. The Jamacain press thought it was a Bond movie, maybe the old "Bond gang" does too. migs

Well at least it would be true. Pierce Brosnan by Jo Wiseman, November 22nd, 2002 60 SECONDS EXTRA: Pierce Brosnan was left shaken but not stirred after his exertions with Halle Berry while playing James Bond in Die Another Day. The man who has been 007 since Goldeneye in 1995 reveals how he learned to be the perfect spy from Mrs Doubtfire, despite a few mishaps in and out of bed. So you managed to close down the Bond set. What happened?Yeah. Everyone says this is my most physical film yet but it's only because I got injured. It was early one cold February morning and I had to do a 200-yard dash. I basically had my cappuccino, did my 200-yard dash without warming up and blew out the meniscus in my knee. I lived with it for about a week then felt something rip. By that stage of the game, you're not dealing with the physical side, more the psychological thing of 'OK, we're going to close shop. They're insured for this and if you're going to push yourself to the limit, this can happen.' So I had the operation and was back within a week. A nice Bollinger is all Bond needs to bounce back. What's a quick pick-me-up for you?I wish it was that simple: 'Sink a bottle of Dom, lad, and you'll be OK.' I like a good single malt whisky. And naps. Meditation. Sleep. Just lying down and staying still. Breathing. Hydration. Water. [glow=red,2,300]And watching the Lingerie channel. [/glow] Speaking of lingerie, any training required for your shirtless scenes?Well, definitely not the training I had: being in Ireland where I was making my own film, Evelyn. That's not the best place to keep up your physical fitness. Not with all that Guinness and soda bread. Isn't this the first time we see Bond actually shagging?Yeah, and it made Halle choke. Oh behave!I gave her a Heimlich. She was on top of me, eating a fig. I made her laugh and it went down the wrong way. She was coughing then went silent. To quote Halle, I did something behind her and made it all better, so there you go. Very James Bond. Where did you learn that move? From Mrs Doubtfire. I'm good with volcanoes, Heimlich manoeuvres and planes going down. I learn everything on the set. There was also talk about this being the first Bond film to show breasts, but it was clearly just talk. You do see a silhouette of some beautiful breasts but we have the rating that we have. This is a film that digitises out the nipples - for America anyway. If we were making it for London, [affects Austin Powers accent] bloody hell! Yay! There'd be Mike Myers choking on his false teeth. Is being Bond a 24-hour job?God, no. I'd be a lunatic if that was the case. I take my children to the supermarket, go to restaurants and live a normal life. Sure, people point and nod. Be careful what you wish for and work towards it. If you want to be employed and successful, and have longevity as an actor, that comes with the territory. But I will not be shackled by a character like this. So he's a blessing and a curse?I've only allowed Bond to be a blessing because who wants to deal with curses? The British press is the curse. Something came up recently and I thought, 'F*** you, stop that. How dare you do that to my family. Don't touch them.' Your first wife Cassandra Harris was a Bond girl in 1981's For Your Eyes Only. Did you two ever joke about your being born to play Bond? She may have. People ask me which Bond films I like and it's well documented that I saw Goldfinger as a kid. And then For Your Eyes Only brought Bond back into my life. It was so great when she was cast because I wasn't working at the time and we could pay the rent. We celebrated on fish and chips. I was 20-something and little did I think. Who's your favourite Bond?Tim Dalton was fantastic, he had the balls to go out there and play it on the nose, Ian Fleming undiluted. But where were the laughs? Sean was brilliant. He played it dead on the money. Roger made it his own and went for the laughs. But Connery was the man. He's Bond for me. Has Sean ever paid you a similar compliment? He's been very polite and complimentary about my work in the press. And we did meet about three years ago on The World Is Not Enough. It was another miserable February morning. They always start these films in the winter so you get up in the dark and go home in the dark. One day I got off around noon, was closing the boot of my car and there was Connery. He said [affects Sean Connery accent]: 'Schplendid! Are they paying you enough money? Don't let them get away with anything!' Or words to that effect. He was wonderful. You've mentioned Paul Bettany as a possible successor.I think he'd be a good choice. He's a fine, exciting actor who plays with great alacrity, intelligence and courage.

Thatsa [glow=red,2,300]cool font![/glow] So he gave her a Heimlich, eh? I think now I know who starts the majority of Bond rumors. And in what movie did his plane go down?

The skill is to keep your plane from going down... see Goldeneye pre title sequence. Ace

see Goldeneye pre title sequence. Apparently, I must. I forgot about it... Regardless of that, it looks like Mr. Brosnan starts most rumors about himself - by misleading the press about his age, by saying he'd given Halle the Heimlich, byt carelessly shopping around for a bong...

It's a "60 Second" interview. No doubt it's easier to say he did the Heimlich than say he jumped up behind her hit her on the back and prepared to do the Heimlich when the fig spewed out before he had to perform it. All that counts is he "saved" her and was prepared like a good boy scout... er Mrs. Doubtfire cast member. ;D

Irish ExaminerRumours abound of Brosnan behaviour on Bond set 19/11/2003 It's hardly likely, but stories are doing the rounds about the behaviour of Pierce Brosnan on the sets of his 007 films. When, goes the rumour, he first became the super cool agent, the Dublin actor was "one of the lads". But now that he's a big star he doesn't mix and hides out in his trailer. It just doesn't seem like the man we all know and love. ====================================== *snort* Who knew "allegedly" not coming out of your trailer could be so newsworthy and potentially traumatic for the press. You mean geographically closer? In that case, what is calling him a Holywood actor - an utter insult or occupational hazard?

Hollywood is a location of employment not origin... well except for those actors actually born in Hollywood... or 30 miles away. ;D

SparklingBlue, a bit of trivia for future reference - most women who choke on their food don't have a handsome partner at hand (no puns, please!) to perform a Heimlich on them.

The man's a menace. He even has women choking on their fruit when he's not even near them to help. Tsk Tsk.
