Celeb Life Is Chest Not Worth the FussDaily RecordOct 22 2003 WHAT does the Queen have in common with busty Jordan and Noel Edmonds with Jeffrey Archer? Despite their fame and fortune, they are among the least envied people in Britain, according to a new study. Most of us would rather not be rich or a celebrity if it meant ending up like messedup nightclub regular Jordan or having the kind of family the Queen has to put up with. We don't want fame and fortune at the price at which it seems to come for some ridicule for Prince Charles and the Duchess of York, no private life for Ulrika Jonsson and apparent unhappiness for John Leslie. A survey of more than 3000 people by furniture chain Harveys named Tony Blair as the most unenvied man in Britain because of the pressures of the Prime Minister's job and taking the flak. However, the poll said that the glamour and wealth of celebrities was a plus. David and Victoria Beckham topped the list of wannabe icons. Richard Branson, Robbie Williams, Pierce Brosnan and Paul McCartney were on the list of envied men's lifestyles. While Kylie, Joan Collins and TV presenters Carol Smillie and Judy Finnigan made the female list. Women said they envied stars with good looks and a good family life while men liked the idea of power and money linked to sex appeal. David Rich, of Harveys, said: ``It gives us an insight into how some celebrities stay popular and others fail to generate public sympathy.'' *** It's *only* from The Daily Record, but I thought I'd share.

Heh, not if I had to be married to the creep Prince Phillip and wear ugly hats. Ace

If you were the Queen, you could chose the creep you were going to marry from a veritable pool of creeps and you could wear pretty hats, too - they'd be fashionable only because you were wearing them. P.S. When I saw "Chest" in the title, I thought they were going to talk about something else.

Ah but they didn't offer the choice of having someones title, looks, money etc and re-doing their life from the start with those attributes, they asked who's life do you envy, and it's not the Queen. (with good reason!)
And yes that chest stuff is very misleading! Hurumph.

Yes, but it's entirely possible that the Queen likes her own husband, her own hats, and even her own life.

Yes but would you, that's the question? And no one likes Prince Phillip, it's just not possible. (OK maybe she did 50 years ago but now? heh) Ace

What would you turn into after living with the Queen for 50 years, eh? Personally, I don't find her particularly attractive, either, although she was pretty when she was young.

Attractiveness is not the concern, in fact I'd say when they married he was the better looking of the pair. But by most accounts he was an utter creep and bully even from the start and there isn't an occassion now when he doesn't open his mouth to say something cruel, insulting or just clueless. Everytime they send him out of the country he's more likely than not to start some political incident. Let's just say not only her children have embarrassed the Queen. Tsk Tsk. Ace

I think the Queen dresses like that and wears these hats because she is so small, so that despite her size everybody can see her. At least she doesn't have blue hair, that's what elderly English ladies are also known for.

;D ;D ;D I think she wears hats because one can't wear a crown everywhere and she feels undressed without something on her head. What facinates me more is the perennial little purse. I've read the main items in it are a hook, so she can hang her purse from tables, and a gun. If so I wonder who she dreams of shooting. Ace

LOL! I wonder if she herself has a licence to kill. ;D
I hear that people around her can tell in which mood she is by the way she holds that handbag.

How pleasant would any of you feel if you were required to use that wimpy little won't-tire-your-hand-out wave, hmmmm? And I think there's a shop that sells hats only to the queen, so she has to select the least ugly that she can find, and that's enough to cause her face to be in a nearly permanent frown. I don't know anything about the gun, but if I were her haberdasher, I'd be watching my back. As apparently the prince should be, if he wanders by here! cg
