Gee, with all those blurred-out faces, you'd think half the attendees were in the witness protection program. cg

Gee, with all those blurred-out faces, you'd think half the attendees were in the witness protection program. cg ;D That's exactly what it looks like but it's just the BBC website being cheap and not providing streaming video with better quality that sucks more bandwidth and takes up more room. But at least this one doesn't have their usual purple and green diagonal stripes! Ace

Steady diet of ice cream and Guinness - I think we can safely assume Bond-21 won't start shooting next January. Not that a couple of months isn't enough time to lose that extra weight. Well, for some, at least.

Hmmm, it's not as if he isn't making a film now and at least one more pre January, that's probably R rated and requires skin... OK hopefully R rated and requires skin. Ace

OK, then hopefully he gets back in shape *before* he shows said skin. Wait, what about LOA? No skin? He's married; married people show skin, you know.

Back in shape? I don't know he looks quite fine in that suit photo up there, ditto in his jeans when he's eating said ice cream. In Laws it seems from the descriptions so far they spend more time sparring and getting together then sparring some more than being married and showing skin. Besides my bets are as a romantic comedy it's all very PG-13 skin, maybe a few undone buttons or a set of bare shoulders or bare leg. I think he could manage a sheet scene like in DAD but that's about it. But you dont see Hugh Grant taking his clothes off in a romantic comedy do you.... scratch that... having awful horrific visual..... ... oh the horror! Ace

Back in shape? I don't know he looks quite fine in that suit photo up there, ditto in his jeans when he's eating said ice cream. It always happens by the end of the movie - although, to be honest, I didn't notice anything unusual about Doyle, or even about Bond in scene that were filmed first. But he said so... In Laws it seems from the descriptions so far they spend more time sparring and getting together then sparring some more than being married and showing skin. But they get married and encounter the same problems! They have to make up! ::Whines:: But you dont see Hugh Grant taking his clothes off in a romantic comedy do you.... scratch that... having awful horrific visual..... ... oh the horror! Dearest Ace, don't watch cr*p, you'll sleep better.

Ahem (buttons aside) back on topic... The British Embassy press Release actually describes for the curious what an OBE is: BRITAIN HONOURS PIERCE BROSNANJuly 14, 2003 www.britishembassy.ie/press/press_releases.htmThe Irish film actor and producer, Pierce Brosnan has been awarded an honorary OBE by Her Majesty The Queen, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to drama and the British Film Industry. The British Ambassador, Stewart Eldon, will present the award in Dublin at 11.30am on Saturday 19 July. Commenting on the award today, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said: "From his first steps as an actor at the Drama Centre of London, through numerous starring roles on stage and screen, Pierce Brosnan has captivated audiences at home in Ireland, here in the UK and across the world. In his portrayal of 007 in the last four Bond films, he has added style and glamour to the image of Britain overseas. But he has also worked very hard behind the scenes in supporting an array of charitable causes. This award celebrates a truly remarkable achievement". Notes to Editors: • There will be photo and "mini interview" opportunities at this event. Members of the press who would like to attend must contact Ruth McKenna, Deputy Press Officer at the British Embassy in Dublin: (01) 2053742 no later than 15.00hrs Friday 18 July • British Honours are awarded on merit for exceptional achievement or service to British interests. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was founded in 1917, initially to recognise service by civilians in the First World War. The order now honours civilians and service personnel for public service or other distinctions. • The honour OBE is that of an Officer in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. These awards are conferred by The Queen, on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, on those who have made an important contribution to British interests. • Mr Brosnan serves as Campaign Chairman for the Entertainment Industry Foundation and has been a leading figure in many of the environmental protection efforts for the past ten years. In December 2001 he was appointed as a Special Patron of UNICEF Ireland.

I didn't notice either that the ice-cream and Guinness had any "side effects". He looks great as always. He can go ahead and show some skin.

Embassy does the honours as Brosnan collects OBE July 21st 2003 By: Melanie Finn AFTER countless missions on her Majesty's secret service in his role as 007, Pierce Brosnan has finally received the royal stamp of approval. The dashing Irish actor with the licence to thrill was given an honorary OBE from the Queen over the weekend for playing legendary British spy James Bond in the last four films in the series. He was presented with the award at a special ceremony attended by 17 members of his family at the Sandyford residence of the British ambassador to Ireland, Stewart Eldon. Impeccably dressed in a navy suit and tie and looking far younger than his 50 years, he told reporters how delighted he was to accept the honorary Order of the British Empire for his contribution to British film. "When I got the call four months ago, I thought they were pulling my leg. One feels very humbled by it. I wasn't expecting it and I never dreamt of receiving such an honour. As an Irishman, I'm honoured and flattered the role was given to me," he said. When asked how many more times he intended playing Bond, he mused: "Sean (Connery) did six, I wouldn't mind going for six. I don't know about seven although it is my lucky number." www.unison.ie/entertainment/stories.php3?ca=228&si=1015301Ace

I wonder if honorary OBEs can be passed to one's heirs. Chris is British citizen; will he some be called Sir Christopher Brosnan?

OBE doesn't confer sirhood even when it's not honorary and it's not inheritable, it's a personal honour/award. Besides, let Chris earn his own. Ace
