Of course there could be a valid character/plot reason why his hair is long in the scenes being shot but considering the fact that films aren't shot in sequence if he was too cut it later that would present continuity problems.... It's usually a problem unless it's written into the schedule from start. When PB was complaining about his fake beard in DAD, he said he'd rather grow his own but there wasn't enough time. I assume it means they could've shot the Korea scenes first if not for Evelyn. And with a movie like LOW where there aren't as many locations and they aren't that exotic, they could probably try to work out something if that were the case. Not that it's always possible, of course.

The problem is that while some scenes are suppossed to take place in Ireland most of the film is suppossed to take place in NYC, and while they'll shoot a week of exteriors in NYC at the very end of the shoot, they're shooting the NYC interiors in Ireland, and they have to match up. Yes it can be scheduled but it still might be very tricky especially if you have pick up shots later on.

That's why I said it wasn't always possible.
Do you know how they filmed the first scenes of Robinson Crusoe? I know he wore extensions on that one, not a wig. But I don't remember what it was in the opening scenes; maybe he wore a wig there, just like they did at that time.

LOL. I don't think he liked them the first time around. Still, he went ahead and did Grey Owl. Why don't you like extensions, CG? Have you tried them?

Heck no. Just don't think they sound appealing, especially on a guy. I mean, I don't care if other people like them, but I wouldn't use them. I'm going about it the hard way, growing my hair out. Maybe in two more years it'll be down to my shoulders. cg

Somehow I don't see the Bond producers willing to have him with past shoulder length hair because he needs to have it waist length for Grey Owl 2 years later. ;D Yuliya, his hair was about shoulder length for Crusoe, you can see that in the Bond press conference in 1994 and in the TV movie Detonator 2: Nightwatch he did around the same time, he was growing it out for Crusoe, I gather that makes extensions easier and they look better. Oh and IMO better extensions than a wig, just not comfortable and well they hardly ever look good either. Ace

My, I'm so proud of Pierce!! Very cute pictures! Congratulations, Mr... excuse me... Dr Brosnan! But still, I would suggest that Dr Brosnan accompanies me tomorrow when I'm having my hair cut. I'm sure they can do something about his, too. And maybe he should also reconsider his movie wardrobe-- purple suits? EEK!

Now, now, of course actors and actresses have to use all kinds of things for roles. I was thinking more on a personal level - Pierce and extensions. Just a tangential train of thought, as are most of mine. cg

I thought it looked good on him - all things considered. He did grow his hair for Crusoe, but he also wore extensions. Maybe his natural length was what was used in the opening scenes. CG, I doubt extensions are that uncomfortable. What bothers people is the weight of their hair that changes overnight. And some people's hair just doesn't grow very long - it breaks or falls out but never goes below the shoulder blades.

Any of you see the post-series Dr. Quinn movies? That wig they had Joe Lando in was one of the worst things I've ever seen. Aacckk! Another bad wig - Donny Osmond in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I never thought about that first part - the weight. I"ve experienced the opposite. A few years back I went in for a trim to my then-shoulder-length hair and came away two days and three cuts later looking like Hilary Swank. I kid you not. It was traumatic. My daughter has a friend whose hair grows really fast. The last time she was here she had about 14 inches less than the time before (two weeks previous). I am happy to say that she had donated it to Locks of Love. Doesn't grow that fast in our family. cg

Irish Examiner2/11/04 Brosnan to make a bond with UCC degree award By Sean O’Riordan HE probably won’t be shaken, but maybe stirred by his latest starring role. Will the world’s most famous secret agent, 007, be able to breeze in and out of Cork without causing mayhem? It’s unlikely he’ll be hunted by spectre agents, or assassins working for world-dominating wannabes, but Pierce Brosnan will probably have to run the media gauntlet when he gets an honorary degree from University College Cork. Brosnan, aged 50, whose next outing as Bond will be in ‘Everything or Nothing’, is to get the degree in UCC on June 4. Attracta Halpin, assistant registrar at the National University of Ireland, said the actor expressed delight with the news. “He will receive the degree for his outstanding achievement as an actor. In addition he had done a lot of work in charitable pursuits,” Ms Halpin said. The new 007 film will see the return of the character “Jaws” played by Richard Kiel. It will also star Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, John Cleese and Shannon Elizabeth. Brosnan, who made over 30m from his previous four outings as Bond, is also a producer and director. His production company, Irish DreamTime, has made numerous films, including Evelyn. Brosnan will receive the honour along with five other notable people. Legendary Kerry footballer Mick O’Connell will also receive an honorary degree the same day. The holder of four All-Ireland senior medals, O’Connell won national renown for his skill and dedication and for the honesty and integrity with which he played the game. He is also an avid supporter of the Irish language. Cork will be represented by Hilary Pyle, the art critic and biographer who is also a curator of the Yeats Museum in the National Gallery of Ireland. She has written extensively on Irish art. Louis Mulcahy, the founder and director of Potadóireacht na Caolóige, a craft pottery in the West Cork Gaeltacht will also be honoured. Robert Woodrow Wilson who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1978 will also get an honorary degree. He is currently head of the Radio Physics Department at the State of New York University. The other recipient will be Carl E Thoresen of Stanford University who is one of the world’s leading scholars in the field of Counselling Psychology. ============================ Er.... nice details on his next Bond film there... one problem that's the title and cast of the video game. He'll be Dr Dr Brosnan then! I'm not sure it sounds better than Major Major Major. I'm a little confused, though. Is he going to get a second honorary degree or did the Examiner recycle the old news getting all the names wrong? We won't be too surprised, will we? Attracta Halpin - a good name for a Bond girl.

It's a second honourary degree, it's a different university/college. All they screwed up was the Bond details but then I've seen that Bond story written in other places like The Times already, so it's rather widespread misinofmation... but then what else is new. Ace

It's only different college if The Examiner didn't screw it up along with all other facts in their story. But even The Examiner can't be that stupid. Right?

Actually, it's from Catch-22. There was a character whose last name was Major. When he was born, his mother wanted to name him Caleb but his father registered him under Major (not telling anyone at the time), so he became Major Major. And then he enlisted and eventually became a Major, which made him Major Major Major. And actually it's a very sad story.

Irish Examiner: The name's Bond, Dr James Bond James Bond star Pierce Brosnan was today left feeling happily shaken and stirred after receiving an honorary degree from University College Cork. The 49-year-old actor said he was delighted and proud to be made a doctor of law. “This is a huge honour, not only for myself but also for my family. I never thought I’d get this far in life, but so far so good.” The actor arrived in a Mercedes, followed by a Volkswagen van with 007 included in the number plate. =========================== Look he's now getting younger! Ah the press. Oh and the mustache is gone... to be replaced by a silly hat no one can really look good in. Ace
