Ohhh, great scenes! Thanks for posting the links! I particularly liked the jaguar (though I read it was a panther, which it wasn't,) the full Angus Black story, and the rental car scene (which I love in the movie for PB's expression as the car makes it exactly into the window of the rental agency.) I have a stupid question. In the foreword to this scene Tomorrow Never Dies Extended Scene: Moving Assignment Spottiswood said PB ad-libbed the last line, which wasn't in the movie. What is the last line? I can't turn up the volume on my PC's speakers to hear it. Thanks in advance.

I had to play it a few times to hear it myself . It's "Thanks for the ride M" which takes on a kind of subtle double entendre after all the "pumping" talk. I can see why they got rid of the drink bit -- PB's was doing everything but smacking him in the face but they should have kept the last line because it's shows more wit than the ones before it (which is probably why it was cut). I'd love to see the full 25 minutes from the start of TWINE before it was cut down to 13. It's interesting to see the fuller chase down the stairwell and without the music though I think the cutting and the music significantly tightens up and makes the pace more urgent. The cut line in TWINE about not everything is madman in volcanos with big busted women and nuclear weapons -- and his "It only takes one" is very funny (see You Only Live Twice) but doesn't fit the scene at all so it had to go. The bra on the suit of armor but though and the 'The Things I do for England" should have stayed! The cut scene I really wanted is the one they showed in the International Trailer of Bond and Elektra kissing on the way up the stair case to her bedroom. That looked stunning, would have been a nice bridge to finding them in bed together, and the walk up the staircase together would have niceky mirrored the end chase up the stairs. Damn.

I got a kick out of the line about madmans and volcanoes. The second one is also good, but IMHO it turns the previous scene into but an act of payment for service rendered. It belongs to TOP or even to Bond books more than to a Bond movie.
Yes, I noticed it wasn't there and thought of you (and me.) Pity. Will somebody finally dig up their old PAL tape, make their trailer into a video and put it on the YouTube?!

Argh, I hit modify instead of reply -- sorry I clipped you post a bit. I thought it was obviously about payment in the film-- he's using sex to get a clean bill of health so he can get back into the field and do his job. It's not as if he didn't enjoy it though and that it wasn't such a great payment after all - I think that's obvious and it isn't as if he wasn't smirking in the tag scene to show just that. That's the one part of the TWINE TV Special video that was taken down by Youtube which leads me to believe that MGM/Sony complained. You can't even find the international trailer online. they horde that snippet of a scene like god-- the scene itself is probably locked up in Fort Knox. Just like they have the nerve to re-release DAD as an Ultimate Edition -- cut some special features off it and then not give one single deleted scene -- let alone the scene we all wanted Bond and Miranda in the hot springs. Phooey! If they want me to keep buying these films over and over I at least demand an extra or extended sex scene (the sauna scene in GE was significantly cut down for censors -- so where is it?) on every DVD.

I was about payment, of course, but without that last line we still had an illusion of it being not only about payment, if you see what I mean. If those sauna scene were cut to keep the ratings to PG-13, they probably can't go on as extras, either. Don't you wish EON were run by Lucas? Then we'd have every cut imaginable, including an R-rated one.

The end scene doesn't say it's all about payment, he seems quite pleased with himself. The line is not meant to be taken straight - he obviously did NOT do it just for England. It was no great sacrifice at all - quite the contrary. I'm not sure all scenes in the deleted section have to fit with the PG -13 rating but if not then they could have a new excuse to make yet another set of editions -- The R rated Bond editions! Ace

I think he says, 'smooth ride M', because he cant drink his drink very well....xx LOL! Even funnier. And since they cut the bobbling drink bit I guess they had to lose his one liner. Pity.

LOL!
Actually, I've just remembered that a Russian actor who started his career as a limo driver said that the trademark of a good driver was so that the passengers could drink in the car undisturbed during the ride.

But how often did he have to speed through the streets of London with a police escort so that his passenger could avert WW III?

Probably not often, and certainly not under such road conditions, considering in the beginning of his career there were far less cars on the road in general. And I don't think it would be London at any rate, even though he may have had the intention of averting WWIII. Come to think of it, I doubt Bond has that kind of ride in mind when he's referring to the smoothness. Am I too slow?

By the way, that car could not have been speeding. Bond has the license to kill, not to break the traffic laws, remember? Surely MI5 wouldn't break any laws, either.
