Seems like EON has now really screwed it up, huh? I can't say I blame Pierce for saying what he said. But of course it's sad that he would have to leave under these circumstances and that we won't get to see him as 007 anymore. I've lost all respect for EON as a decision making entity. They were desperate to do a Jinx film with Halle hardly anyone wanted to see until MGM made them pull the plug (and boy after Catwoman aren't they glad they did) and at the same time screw over the most popular Bond they've had since the 60's. Bah! Ace

You know, someone else parsed out the actual quotes from this article:
"That's it," Brosnan told EW.com. "I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond."
"Bond is another lifetime behind me," Brosnan said.
"We went out on a high," Brosnan said, "and I look back affectionately at that time and doing those four movies. But I've said all I gotta say on it."
Where is the phrase that says he's quit? I'd really like to read the entire interview or at leat know the context.

Grasping at straws, eh? Did you look through this week's EW? If they didn't post the entire interview on their site, maybe the would print it.

It wouldn't be in this weeks issue or the news would have come out last Friday when it hit the stands.

Interesting to note that CNN.com's article on this is fifth on their list of articles most e-mailed to someone else today. cg

Maybe this Friday, then? When do subscribers receive their issues?

I'm surprised it isn't higher. Even my mother e-mailed me about it today! When the rumors came out in Feb/March he was one of the top 3 searched photos on the net along with The Easter Bunny and Hussein. ;D If you look on Google news there are a couple of hundred news articles since last night on it just in the US and if you check WorldNews it's reported everywhere from the UK to Sri Lanka. Maybe this Friday, then? When do subscribers receive their issues? Usually Thur of Friday. If it's the same short article, well pftt, I'll be dissapointed. What kind of major story/ scoop/ interview is that when the interviewer provides most of the text and the conclusions? Ace

What, not Marge? What is it then, Rumpelstiltskin? I thought you'd recognize the quote - it's from Simpsons, when the Computer asked what kind of home computer he'd be if he let Marge's hands touch the dishes. She giggled and the Computer pointed out he'd asked a question. Then Marge unsuredy said, "Not a very good one?" and he said, "Darn straight." I'm not entirely sure I got all the lines straight, but this "Not a very good one?" was the first thing I thought of when I read your previous post.

As of 11:30 p.m. non-DST Eastern (which equals CST on DST) -- the PB article has moved up to 3rd most e-mailed. cg Heck, I don't watch the Simpsons and I figured that was the reference.

Go ahead CG rub it in. ;D Yuliya, though you do realize you've wasted some perfectly good Pierce Trivia quotes in this topic now. NO matter you can probably reuse it in a few weeks and I won't remember then either. 3rd eh? And the article isn't even linked from the front of the CNN Entertainment page anymore. Ace

There was even a quarter-page article in today's edition of the local newspaper in my area. They even said, as did other German media sources, that he wanted more money. What garbage!

They think it's a negotiating ploy because no one can really believe EON would so stupid as to let PB go. And there's been a history of Bond actors, Connery & Moore saying they were done and who EON then lured back. More news from the whacky front: The MGM Quaterly report today Executives also did not comment on speculation that actor Pierce Brosnan would not be back to play secret agent James Bond in the 21st installment of the film franchise. MGM chief operating officer Chris McGurk said the still-untitled film is slated for a November 2005 release. The studio is still working on a script and has yet to choose a director or decide on casting, he said. ============= So it's almost August and no shooting script, no director, no Bond and not even a comment on PB.

oh my god... Today there was a poll on TV: Who should be the next Bond? the candidates: 1. Jude Law 2. Hugh Grant 3. Ewan McGregor 4. Collin Farrell 5. Robbie Williams winner: Robbie Williams with over 90 % !! for those who don`t know "Robbie" He`s a famous british singer, ex boyband-member, and a lot of people think he`s the sexiest man alive (Muahahaha very funny) Honestly I expect that after all PB will do another one, perhaps they delay it but there`s no worthy follower in sight ::sigh:: we will see

I think Robie Williams won because the almost entire selection is a joke and his name is the biggest joke of all.
1. Jude Law- much too thin, a little too small but has elegance and is a very good actor and easily the best of this lot. Probably doesn't wat the role. 2. Hugh Grant-- too old, too foppish, too Hugh 3. Ewan McGregor-- too too short, too round faced and impish 4. Collin Farrell-- too foul 5. Robbie Williams -- just wrong on every level
