Hi Xen! Yeah that was discussed in the Bond XXI rumor topic. No big deal except ET has really gone down hill in it's polling abilities. It was a silly poll that was originally spammed with about 50% of Bloom votes w/in minutes and then went down from there. I can't take any vote seriously where you can vote multiple times. Especially not where Bloom supporters don't have to go to work the next day. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Irish Examiner today: Brosnan's Bond days are over - Madsen Pierce Brosnan is finished with James Bond, according to his friend, neighbour and one-time 007 co-star, Michael Madsen. Madsen said he was told that Brosnan will be replaced with an Australian, although he did not know who and could not confirm if it was Hugh Jackman, who has been touted as a possible future Bond. Pierce admitted last month that, while he was willing to do his fifth Bond picture if the filmmakers could get a decent script written and find a director for the project, the negotiations were not going well. Not sure what to make of it exactly, but I thought I'd share.

IOL EntertainmentBrosnan backed to keep Bond role21/04/2004 Pierce Brosnan, still unsure if he will be playing James Bond in the new 007 film - working title: Bond 21 - and watching the growing list of wannabe replacements, has been backed by his on-screen boss, M. Dame Judy Dench, who played the top spymaster in the last four films, has dismissed reports that the 50-year-old Irishman, one of the most successful of the actors to take on the role, is to be replaced by the likes of Colin Farrell, Jude Law, Paul Bettany, Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman: "I think Pierce should play Bond … and I think he will." No scripts have been shown around and shooting doesn't start until next Spring. ================================== Ah... nothing like a Dame. Ace

Observer: TRAILER TRASH
Brosnan will renew his licence
The Bond debate hots up. Following denials from Clive Owen that he will be the next 007, Trash advises readers to put their money on current incumbent Pierce Brosnan (below, with Michelle Yeoh), with giving it at least one more shot. Bond stunt director Vic Armstrong told me last week: 'Pierce isn't ready to give it up yet, and I know he'll be back for one if not two more.'
Armstrong is one of the world's leading stuntmen and has devised nearly every chase sequence since Brosnan took over the role. The former stuntman, who has also doubled for Harrison Ford, Arnie, Sly and Sean Connery, has developed a close friendship with Brosnan, who maintains that he has not yet been offered the part for Bond 21.
'He's been a joy to work with,' said Armstrong, who introduces a series of stunt movies on the TCM channel this month. 'We work out the stunts together and he's still very athletic and very keen to do them himself. He gets fitter with every film and he's got plenty more to give to Bond.'

I assume this comes from the IMDB/WENN since it uses much of the same phrases, including the alleged last quote by Babs (if true ooh mightly big of her after EON allegedly began all the insulting rumors to begin with. Yep Bond business as usual.)
WICKED WHISPERS May 20, 2004 9:20am Europe Intelligence Wire
PIERCE BROSNAN is the focus of a charm offensive as Barbara Broccoli and her fellow 007 producers busy themselves buttering him up after a brief falling out over the next Bond picture. I'm told Brosnan has been assured of the part, with a return to a basic script after the cartoonishness of Die Another Day. And Broccoli has said his denouncement of recent 007 offerings will not be held against him. She told colleagues: 'If you knew what my father Cubby went through with Sean Connery, that's nothing.'

Interview: Clive Owen "King Arthur" Posted: Tuesday July 6th, 2004 7:54 PM Author: Paul Fischer Location: Los Angeles, CA British star-on-the-rise Clive Owen wants to make it clear that he is not in talks to be the next James Bond. In seemingly good spirits while talking to the media about the non-Camelot take on King Arthur, in which Owen has assumed the title role, Owen is clearly getting fed up with journalists' questions surrounding rumours that he is in talks to be the next 007. "It is a complete rumour and I don't know where it comes from. I think that Pierce Brosnan is a fantastic Bond, who has really invigorated the whole franchise, has made that company a lot of money and they should be banking it in saying 'he's our man' until he steps down. So let's just leave it at that!" Nor does Owen aspire to be the next Bond. "I really don't think about it," Owen says emphatically. Even though Owen has been a working actor since the late eighties, considerable succeeded eluded him until 1998's Croupier started to put him on the map. More recently, The Bourne Identity and the recent Beyond Borders gave Owen international exposure, and with the release of King Arthur, one can say that for this 39-year old Brit, it's uphill all the way. Owen is modestly philosophical about his success. "I am just hugely grateful and feel very lucky. It is when you least expect it. Croupier had such an unusual, weird history, it made an impact here and suddenly I was introduced to an American audience, so since then I have been offered a lot of movies." Owen says that he loves the challenge of playing a variety of characters, another reason why James Bond remains relatively unappealing. "That is the deal you make if you take on something like that," Owen explains. "The one thing I have always done and wanted to do is to keep everything and all options open and keep it as varied as possible. I have three films that are all coming out this year, including King Arthur and Closer directed by Mike Nichols. I like to keep mixing it up and you know that if you take on some huge franchise thing like Bond, then the deal would be that that you couldn't be so diverse and fresh."

7-27-04 NEW YORK_Pierce Brosnan appears to be turning in his license to kill, says Entertainment Weekly. "That's it," Brosnan told EW.com. "I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond." In an interview on the magazine's Web site, posted Tuesday, the Irish-born actor said 2002's "Die Another Day" was his last mission on her majesty's secret service. "Bond is another lifetime behind me," Brosnan said. But the 51-year-old's statement might be a negotiating ploy. Original Bond Sean Connery quit for a whole movie before being lured back for bigger bucks. If true, England-based Eon Productions, which produces the Bond flicks, must find another star to carry 007's Walther PPK in the 21st Bond movie, scheduled for release next year. Speculation surrounds Brits Clive Owen, Ioan Gruffudd, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Gerard Butler, Jude Law and Ewan McGregor, as well as Aussies Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger and Eric Bana. For Brosnan, playing Bond will always be a fond memory. "We went out on a high," Brosnan said, "and I look back affectionately at that time and doing those four movies. But I've said all I gotta say on it." ___ On the Net: www.ew.com/ew/

That´s sad, (if it`s true) I was so excited to see him once again as Bond...on the other hand now he has the time to make more movies like Evelyn or Laws...still: ::waves goodbye to the best Bond ever::

Well they're direct quotes made to Entertainment Weekly so I'd assume they're true. I do wonder what greater context they were made in though. Maybe someone called about the latest round of rumors and he just answered. EON of course have still made no comment but then they've handled this entire debacle over the last 5 months so shoddily and with such disrespect for PB with their 'rumored' continued leaks and deafening no comments, I don't expect much from them anymore And yes it's sad and it royally sucks. CG, I thought you were perfect for the task, seeing as you don't have to worry about losing sleep over it anyway, but now that you put it that way... You know, screw that, if they pay me that much, they can discuss my jeans size! I'll just hire a fashion adviser, a personal trainer, a cook, and a dietician and won't worry about it anymore! And if I do, I'll hire a couple of shrinks as well!

Seems like EON has now really screwed it up, huh? I can't say I blame Pierce for saying what he said. But of course it's sad that he would have to leave under these circumstances and that we won't get to see him as 007 anymore.
