TB EXCLUSIVE - PIERCE BROSNAN CONSIDERS HAVING SOME “SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL”JUNE 27, 2014
by: Donna Whitehead
Pierce Brosnan is circling SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL, a supernatural thriller from Das Films. The film, which will be directed by John Marks from a current draft written by Marks and Jeremy Duff, centers on a television journalist who faces off against a criminal mastermind who feeds on the souls of victims of mass murder. The film is Marks’ feature writing and directorial debut. Michelle Purple will produce.
This would not be Brosnan’s first collaboration with Das Films. Brosnan’s upcoming action thriller “The November Man,” adapted from the books series by Bill Granger, is a Das Films production. He also stars in Das Films’ romantic comedy “How to Make Love Like an Englishman,” which is currently in post-production and is slated for a release sometime this year.
“Sympathy for the Devil” would also be in line with Brosnan’s renewed focus on action and thrillers, after a long post-James Bond stretch in which he appeared primarily in lighter-hearted comedies and romances. In addition to “November Man,” Brosnan has thrillers “Survivor” and “The Coup” in production, and “I.T.” and “Last Man Out” in development.
Although both of Brosnan and Das Films’ collaborations have yet to be released, the two are obviously a good fit, given that Brosnan keeps returning. Hopefully, it will continue to be a good partnership, and fans of Brosnan’s James Bond days can look forward to seeing him in another action-oriented film (even if this one has a more supernatural bent).
