variety.com/2014/film/news/pierce-brosnan-spy-thriller-november-man-dated-for-aug-27-1201155753/Dave McNary Film Reporter @variety_DMcNary Relativity Media has set “November Man,” which stars Pierce Brosnan as a former spy, for an August 27 release in the U.S. Relativity has also decided to move back Natalie Portman’s “Jane Got a Gun” which had been set for Aug 29. The studio has not a new date. Brosnan appeared in four James Bond films as the iconic spy, the last of which, “Die Another Day,” was released in 2002. “November Man” centers on an ex-CIA operative who is brought back on a personal mission. He finds himself pitted against his former pupil in an operation involving high-level CIA officials and the Russian president-elect. Roger Donaldson directed “November Man,” which is produced by Brosnan’s Irish DreamTime and Das Films, in association with The Solution Entertainment Group, Merced Media Partners and Palmstar Media Capital. The script was adapted from Bill Granger’s novel “There Are No Spies.” Producers are Brosnan’s longtime partner Beau St. Clair and Sriram Das. Michael Finch and Karl Gajdusek wrote the script. Irish DreamTime announced “November Man” in 2012 at Cannes as the launch title in a multi-picture financing and distribution deal with The Solution.

What are the ramifications of this change in the MPAA status?

What are the ramifications of this change in the MPAA status? It affects advertising and some theaters won't play it. Like the writer of the article if Relativity still intends the film to open wide I can't see them not challenging the rating or making edits to obtain it.

Sneak Peek: Brosnan is a spy again in 'November Man'Bryan Alexander, USA TODAY 10:57 p.m. EDT June 4, 2014 Pierce Brosnan is back in the spy game. The Irish actor, who was James Bond through four films from 1995 to 2002, returns to the big screen as an ex-CIA operative pulled on a final mission in The November Man (out Aug. 27). "It just felt right, what can I say?" says Brosnan, 61. "Enough time has passed from my days as Bond. I think the stage is big enough and wide enough for me to step back." Brosnan's production company, Irish DreamTime, picked up the rights to Bill Granger's novel There Are No Spies five years ago. But the timing then didn't seem right. "You cannot push these transitions," Brosnan says. "Daniel Craig is a brilliant Bond and a Bond for his day. He owns it 100%. But I had a fairly good audience with my days as James Bond. It was fertile ground for me." M 071_NM_06954 Brosnan reteamed with his Dante's Peak (1997) director, Roger Donaldson, to portray seasoned operative Peter Devereaux. "He's walked away from the life, but he's pulled back into it," says Brosnan, pointing out that his character is so dark that he's earned the "November Man'' moniker. "Every time he goes to a city, everyone dies like it is winter. It's a line from the book that's a metaphor for his life." The trailer hits theaters and online on Friday. Brosnan insists this is a darker, gadget-free world away from 007. "All he has are hard knuckles, a hard head and a lot of heart," he says. "He has a gun and a knife that he knows how to use effectively. That's it. It's kind of stripped down." Brosnan says he did have his moments of doubt about his return just before shooting began on the Serbia set in 2013. "I woke up in Belgrade one morning and I was 60," Brosnan says. "The temperature was 102 and it was four days before filming. I mildly freaked out that suddenly I had this film to make. It was like, 'God give me strength.' And you just go do it." M 064_NM_00127rv3 Brosnan is not alone. He's working with 24-year-old Aussie actor Luke Bracey as his CIA protégé turned hunter. Bracey looks to break out big-time, starring in the Point Break reboot due to begin filming this month for release in 2015. "I promise you, you're going to know about Luke," says director Donaldson. "He's got everything." Even playing adversaries, Bracey says he had to get used to Brosnan's star power on their first day of filming. "I was sitting there and it was James Bond chastising me," Bracey says. "It took me an hour to kind of forget that and be fully present. But it was a thrill." The plan for the film, pending box office success, would be to set a franchise that could be handed over to Bracey. Regardless, Brosnan says, it was exciting to perform complicated car stunts with his Bond stuntman Mark Mottram or even blow up a van in a city. "We're going out in traffic with eight men in cars with camera mounts working out a sequence for days. Or blowing (stuff) up in Belgrade and getting away with it. That's when you know you're back in the game and back in the spy world."

Like the writer of the article if Relativity still intends the film to open wide I can't see them not challenging the rating or making edits to obtain it. Ahhh, that makes sense. Thanx.

www.tracking-board.com/tb-exclusive-november-man-sequel-is-in-the-works/TB EXCLUSIVE - “NOVEMBER MAN” SEQUEL IS IN THE WORKS JUNE 12, 2014 by: Donna Whitehead Das Films is at work on NOVEMBER MAN 2, a sequel to the upcoming Pierce Brosnan film “The November Man.” The film tells the story of former secret agent Peter Devereaux, who is forced out of retirement and soon finds himself facing off against his former student. It’s based on the novel “There Are No Spies” from the “November Man” series by Bill Granger. In addition to Brosnan, Olga Kurylenko (“Quantum of Solace”), Luke Bracey (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”), and Bill Smitrovich (“Ted”) star. Without having seen “The November Man,” it’s hard to say what the plot of the sequel might be, but there’s plenty to pick from in the source materials; “There Are No Spies” is the seventh in the 13-book series. The next book in the series, “The Infant of Prague,” sees Devereaux kidnapped by his archenemy Colonel Ready during a botched mission–but given that Das Films started by adapting the seventh book in the series, there’s no reason to think they’ll go in chronological order for the sequel. We do know that Boon Saleem, the executive who over saw the first film, is doing the same for the sequel. “The November Man” was directed by Roger Donaldson off a script written by Karl Gajdusek, so it’s possible we could see a return from them for the sequel. The same goes for the film’s actors; Brosnan was pretty heavily involved in the process of bringing Granger’s book to the screen, so he’d probably be up for a return. Of course, this is all undoubtedly contingent on how “The November Man” performs. If it does well, though, this could be the start of a whole new spy franchise for Brosnan, who is one of the best-known actors to play James Bond. The film is slated for an August 27 release (that’s a Wednesday, for those without savant-like knowledge of the calendar), and there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of competition that week; there’s the psychological thriller “The Loft” and the horror film “Jessabelle.” On the other hand, as a Wednesday release, the film may have to contend with stronger competition from the previous weekend’s debuts, which include “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.” So it should be interesting to see what happens.

Interview with Luke Bracey ... spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2014/06/25/point-break-remake-star-luke-bracey-already-knows-the-classic-lines-by-heart/Tell me about working with Pierce Brosnan in The November Man.
Oh, Pierce was fantastic. A Bond, and thus one of the greatest action heroes of all time.
Oh, absolutely. My point. Not only did I watch him as Bond, but I chose him every time I played Nintendo 64 Goldeneye. Did you tell him that?
Yeah, of course! And then, to suddenly be one day sitting at a table having dinner with him and becoming his very, very good mate was … yeah, it was kind of crazy! I can’t believe I was lucky enough to have that. I actually saw him today. We did a bit a press for an event today, and it was great to see him again – and yeah, he’s one of the nicest people I think I’ve met and had the pleasure of working with, and with so much to teach and so much to kind of ooze and for me to absorb in terms of the craft and the professionalism that he brings to it. It was an absolute thrill.
