The Irish heart throb pitched up at Lauderdale House on Thursday (September 6) for his first day of filming on A Long Way Down, an adaptation of the Nick Hornby’s dark comedy set in Archway. The 59-year-old former James Bond wandered the corridors of the 1582 home as a swarm of extras, dog walkers and park users, gathered in Waterlow Park to begin filming. Although he might have passed on the 007 role to a young pretender the silver fox was up to his old tricks as he tinkled the ivories of the historic as staff swooned around him. General manager Katherine Ives confided in Heathman: “He was absolutely charming, you would never have known he was such a mega star. “He certainly lived up to everyone’s expectations.” The film star, who used to live in Highgate, was showered with fake rain during filming and towelled himself off and changed in the house, to the delight of his female admirers on set. After lunch he made his way up to long gallery upstairs for a second session on a Sébastien Érard piano. “He talked about how he had learned the piano when he was an out-of-work actor and he was trying to remember if he could play it,” said Katherine. “Let’s just say it sounded like he was trying to remember which was what he said.”  With the staff ...

Someone on Tumblr posted about this unplanned visit. Seems her mother's painting were being shown in the gallery upstairs ..... awordfromthecurator.tumblr.com/Day One It’s a lovely place up in Highgate hill. The sun was out, the sky was blue, the birds were singing and I was reading some morbid short stories by Samuel Beckett. While I was up there there was a bit of filming going on with that nice Mr. Brosnan! Tha’s nice innit! He even wished my mum luck in the end so I have a new favorite Bond.I’ve been whoring out this exhibition for quite some time but with great reason. While I’ve been up here I’ve seen some of the crew being visually bamboozled in the nicest of ways! On their way to give someone a coffee, a camera or a light they go on a series of brief visual holidays; celebrations of design, colour and light from great European cities, to Granada, Palma, Seville, Venice, Barcelona and …. Matlock! Trust me it works! A few friends and a member of the family were up there when I arrived leading to a very nice start to a day that was very long! And this is the important bit. It’s all very well having an exhibition but people need to see it. Please please please come along if you can. It’s a fantastic vibrant exhibition and it’s a wonderful visual holiday… And James Bond seemed to like it!A huge thank you to everyone who came during the day and the evening, it’s important to get these seen and to get people talking, texting, facebook statusing and twittering about this! #evesticklerartist |
