Anyone having difficulty accessing their account. Can't recall e-mail etc, please post here and I will e-mail you a new password or try to help with log in problems.
Members will have to give their birthdate when registering and must be over 13 years of age or the system will not allow you to log on. Ages can now be hidden in the personal info by the user.

I had to re-register and wasn't pleased AT ALL that I MUST include my birthdate. Since when is it US law? I swear, these people are getting more and more dictatorial every day. Do you know that if you are an officer of an organization, a new law (anti-terrorism, supposedly) requires a social security number of each officer to be associated with the organization's bank account?? Even if the officer in question has absolutely NO involvement with the group's finances. This is just too much. I was going to use a phony birthdate like maybe being born in 1900 or something, but knew that I wouldn't remember it later if the site asked me for it if there was trouble signing in. Unbelievable!

You can hide it in your profile now though. They're forcing the birthdayte thing because of lawsuits against those allowing minors on the board. Of course a 12 year old can still lie but this way they guard themselves by practicing some diligence and requiring it. The security stuff everywhere is getting to be a pain. Everyone wants a drivers license now for the smallest thing and sometimes evena passport won't do in it's stead which is ludicrous. Ace

Yep, everybody wants to know everything that we used to be able to keep secret. Not that I'm worried about my age, but really, too much information is out there and it's making it easier and easier for ID thieves. Yes, I'm sure the "hide birthday" option is default, and we can choose "no" if we want the world to see our ages. I didn't touch it. I just wanted to go on record as "Protesting".

I must say I find it interesting that the only members who chose not to disclose their age are those younger than I am (or those who pretend to be though we know how futile that it .) Anyway, you do what you chose to do, but for now I'm the oldest member here. Does it make me eligible to pour tea?

How do you know? Did you check all the profiles for ages?

All 72? I'm not sure. I did check quite a few once my curiosity was peeked. Something could have changed since then, too, since some members are still re-logining (is that a word?) anew.

I might as well put mine back in since most people probably already know. I think I was getting a bit paranoid about my age when a while ago a little boy passed me in the street yelling "Get out of the way grandma!" Even in your early twenties that can get to you.

:: Snort :: I don't see how you should be kept responsible for somebody's poor eyesight and/or lack of judgement. Please, don't put your birthday back on my account; it wasn't a rant, just an observation and it doesn't matter, besides, we indeed know how old you are anyway.

LOL Thanks! I put it back because it had been there before. I'm above unfounded criticism from kids now.

I do hope you didn't call my post "unfounded criticism from kids."

No reason. At least no one has yelled "get out of the way, Grandma!" at me yet! LOL Really, that's pretty sad - Sparkling Blue could hardly pass for anyone's mother, let alone grandmother. On the other hand, when I was in college, I had occasion to have a conversation with a 3-year-old who asked how old I was. I said, "how old do you think I am?" and she looked up at me quite seriously and said, "Five?" So I have a history of not looking my age. :: snickers :: cg

;D At least it was flattering. My son at a tender age of 3 or 4, looking at the scales I was weighing myself on, appreciatingly said, "Wow!" He was referring to the difference between his 2-digit weight and mine 3-digit one. (That's in pounds, mind you, not in kilograms!)

Did I tell you about the time when I bought notebooks for school? I was looking for a special kind, with a fringe on both sides (my high-school math teacher insisted on these). They couldn't find any at the shop, so I bought a regular one and said I'd draw the fringes myself. The assistent then said to me: "Oh, you really do a lot for your kids." I was about 15 at that time.

Hi! I just recently registered to join the message board and even though it lists me as the newest member, I can't seem to login. Every time I try to login I get the message "Currently your account is waiting for approval from a staff member. Once an administrator has approved your account you will get access to this forum."
I didn't figure out that I can post as a guest until this morning, so I just kept checking every day to see if I had been approved yet, but now I'm worried that maybe there is a problem. Could you let me know if I just need to be more patient and wait or if there might be a problem?
Thanks! respectanimals

Very strange. I've never had to approve a member before. Usually it's automatic when the confirmation is sent back to the user. I changed your password and will e-mail that to youso you can log in (hope that works) then you can change your password after you successfully sign in. Ace

Arghhh. Well I sent the changed password already but just checked the Admin and I saw a new feature that hadn't been there before to "approve" new members. There were THREE pending accounts. My deepest apologies to those I failed to approve earlier, if you've still bothered to come around.
