Oh yeah! My first reaction was - Taipan Almighty! I last looked at this board around 10 a.m., most recent post was mine from yesterday; half an hour later there is one from 4-something a.m. How did she do it? Well, apparently Taipan may be Almighty, but she didn't do that. The board was down last night, maybe the little board gods screwed up the clock in attempt to fix it. Love the smilies.

Oh, good -- I was worried about what had Yuliya up and on the computer in the wee hours of the a.m. cg

OK, this is not just hard, it's downright impossible. In the absense of "posts since last visit" feature I used to look at the time of recent posts and, approximately remembering when I last looked, could see what's new. With this sudden leap in time... Maybe it's easier with "last 10 posts" but I don't use it. When you click on "Profile" on top of the home page, one of the settings you can change is time offset, in hours. It tells you the current board time and you can tell it what time you want it to be. Works like a charm!

Okay, now I am totally losing my mind. I tried to post something saying the time thing was still throwing me off, and asking Yuliya which direction it needed to be offset (more than I already have), and when I went to post it, the board said I wasn't logged in - but there was my name at the bottom! cg

Logging I can't help you with, it worked fine for me. Try logging off and on again. As for the offset - it tells you what time it is right near the slot where you should enter the offset. You're in Central time, aren't you? 5 should do it for you. Or 6 if you're in EST.

I'm on non-DST EST, which this time of year = CST. Got that? ;D So since I've already changed it to be -1 in April (I think), it needs to be -6?

You should add, not multiply. 6 is the board's own offset and -1 is yours; 6-1=5 - like I said. Try 5, see if it makes it right for you.

Who was multiplying?? I thought you said it had to be off by either five or six, and since I was already off by one, I thought it had to off by five more. (Is it just me, or is this nigh-on incoherent?) And as soon as I went somewhere else and came back here (never closing this window), once again it said I was logged out while my name was still showing. Did I fall asleep at the keyboard and this is all just one of my weird dreams? cg Aaaaaaacccccccckkk! :: goes to change profile AGAIN ::

That I can't tell you. You asked if you needed to set offset -6; that was multiplying 6 and -1, which you should've added to receive 5. Maybe it was a dash, but it looked like a minus, and Laura isn't the only one proficient in math, you know, though it wasn't my major. Again, the board is off by 6 hours. By setting 6 hours offset (that's +6, not -6) you'll see what time it is in EST. That's what I did for myself. But you don't want EST, that's why I said for you it was 5. Just try it.

If this *&$@#$ board would let me stay logged on, I think I have it worked out. My math isn't that bad either, but I thought you meant - (yes, minus), not +. So I went back and fixed it, and it may or may not be right, but I can't tell because the board keeps logging me out!!! I do believe that the +5 is correct, but I may never know. cg

And of course I can't go back and edit in the apostrophe that should be up there. cg

And I could change it to +6 instead of +12! In-con- ceive-able!!

Yo, Ace! I wasn't sure where to put this, but I have lost a bunch of things (symbols/words) again too, just since yesterday. Well, I noticed it first last night, but thought it was just that big pic of PB not loading, but nope. A few of my smileys are gone, and while my empty boxes with red x's never left completely, there are now more than ever, and I don't have a "reply," "quote," etc. cg

They're back. Well, at least the smileys and the "reply" and "quote" features, etc. I still don't have anything but white boxes w/ red x's next to text that says, "bold," "italic," etc., for two rows all the way across the screen and then some above the box I'm typing in right now. Plus I don't have little pictures of folders at the beginning of the threads still, or whatever they were. It's been so long since I've had them, I don't even remember! cg

I may have spoken too soon. I went somewhere else, came back and refreshed this page, and the text and icons across the top were gone again (home --> login). What is the deal?? Fortunately, when I clicked on this thread it "let me in," or I wouldn't have been able to log out. cg

Maybe it's just me, but it's not possible to reply or quote in the "name that quote" thread. Might it be that it has grown too big and we will have to open a new one?
