There's a PB interview and one-page photo in the German magazine Für Sie; issue #12, 31. May 2005. No doubt a promotion for LOA. www.fuer-sie.deIs it online anywhere, because I don't see it on that site. Of course if there's no photo attached or a prominent "Pierce Brosnan" I wouldn't see it since it's all greek to me. Ace

Hi, I bought the magazine yesterday and there is a one page interview - nothing really new at all. And a one page photo (set from the Evelyn photoshoot). I could scan it and post it if you want? www.pierce.de.vu

Thank you Chayna for the heads-up! Denzel, Oprah, Bowie, Sting Among AARP The Magazine’s Hot FiftyAARP The Magazine’s Hot Fifty List Runs the Gamut From Classic Beauties to Cool Crooners / News ReleaseMay 31, 2005 Just what makes a person sexy? A smoldering gaze? Sleek muscles or soft curves? Brains and a devilish sense of humor? Sure, some of the more obvious assets can help. But real, make 'em crazy sex appeal comes from deeper, more visceral qualities, many of which become sexier with seasoning. And nothing embodies these ideals like the AARP The Magazine's Hot Fifty List, featured in the July/August issue and at www.aarpmagazine.org/lifestyle/relationships/, which spotlights the celebrities over fifty that make us melt. "The Hot Fifty list runs the gamut, from classic beauties to cool crooners," said AARP The Magazine Editor Steve Slon. "But what all of them have in common is that their appeal goes beyond just looks. These people all have a charisma, an unquantifiable 'it,' that simply draws you to them." Not me but I think my library has it. I checked their Magazine site and it has a POLL up for this list but the article is for the July/Aug issue so that wouldn't be up online yet anyway even if they were to post it there. What's worse though, being on the list or left off the list when you're 50? I know AARP has been around along time, but how many people retire at 50 now any way? Shouldn't it be AARP&PPRTYN - American Assoc of Retired People & People Planning Their Retirement Twenty Years from Now? Ace

God, I calculated how long I'll have to work before I retire, compared with average life expectancy, and it brought on such a slew of depressing thoughts... Noooo!

What really boggles my mind is that PB ranks second behind Ed Harris in this poll. As for the Für Sie pic: it's not a new picture, I know. As I can't scan it, I'll post this smaller version that can be found on Mariela's site.

At least PB is within striking distance. What boggles my mind is that Ed Harris also leads Dennis Quaid and Denzel Washington, and by A LOT. I like Ed, but come on.
Thanks for posting the lovely pic. Yes that's from the TIFF where he showed Evelyn back in Sept 2002. (how time flies!)

First....how did Baryshnikov wind up on this list?
Second....someone in my family gets this magazine, and I do read it, mostly because I am one of the younger generation that is involved in both the WWII memorial and the fight to get the "Missing Years" folks their Social Security due.
If there are pics, I will let you know.
PS: I doubt Pierce gets AARP's magazine at home.
PSS: It wouldn't surprise me if he reads someone else's copy, being the voracious reader that he is.

First....how did Baryshnikov wind up on this list? Um... cause he's over 50 and S-E-X-Y. That reminds me I found out his Nutcracker is on DVD and *squee*. We used to watch it every X-Mas when I was a kid and I can't wait to have it in pristine form. Heh. I hope he's spending his time reading better things than AARP, things that can be adapted into movies. Ace

Heh. I hope he's spending his time reading better things than AARP, things that can be adapted into movies. Ahem... After watching a few recent (and I may say overrated) additions to my personal bottom 100 movie list (which is well over 100 movies worth) I'd say there might be worth things to adapt into movies than AARP magazine, though sadly, that has been done, too. (Think Space Cowboys. ) So, Ace, being a movie buff, you hope to go the way they do in the movies? With a badge and a gun, uttering "Tomorrow's my last day...!" Too bad most countries with favourable exchange rates and low cost of living are usually unfavourable in other sense - political unrest, economical unstability, poor medical care unless one can afford the best... There are paradise islands in the Carribean, of course, for those who likes reclining on the beach all day, gambling all night, and reading in between. As for me... After I painted the house, I hope to be buried under it - at least until I forget how much work I put into it; then I may consider another place of residence.

RE: AARP The Magazine's 2005 Hot Fifty List
Don't look now, but thank heaven they stopped at 50. It appears that Vanity Fair magazine, after outing Deep Throat, has become addicted, perhaps, to revealing more than we wanted to know.
Octogenarian Tony Curtis (they say) will pose in a forthcoming issue in his birthday suit -- naughty bits covered by his Yorkshire Terriers, Daphne and Josephine. I'm not one to pry but shouldn't PETA be picketing his front lawn or something? (Love the dogs' names, but yikes! Talk about getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop! On second thought let's not talk about it.)
If the SMA tries such shennanigans in his eighties here's hoping I'll be blind as a bat and too feeble to totter to the newstand.

Thanks. Now I have to get that image of Curtis and his dogs out of my head. Good grief! Anyone who wants to retire is welcome on my island btw. Just be aware that you might get sick of the lobster after a few months.

Sorry. That was uncalled for, wasn't it? At least in our old age we can look forward to memory loss.

Next up Christopher Lee does Playgirl wtih only his golden gun, wizzard's staff and vampire teeth! My apologies to Mr. Lee for using his name in vain. Daphne and Jospehine? Those names are fantastic. I must watch Some Like It Hot again soon. Ace

PB is in two German magazines this week: - Bestlife Magazin (issue #4 2005) has the same story the US version had a few months ago, just in German. You can read it online here.
- Frau im Spiegel has also an interview up. (I'm planning to make a translation of the interesting parts. Stay tuned. )

Ooh thanks, I look forward to it, you're so much better than bablefish. Interesting that there seems to be quite a bit of press for the German opening of Laws and yet from the sites I look at it seems to be getting a rather small theatrical release. That's puzzling because the reviews in Germany from what I've read are actually pretty good -- much better than the U.S. ones on the whole. Ace

Hmm, from a quick look at the Best Life article via BableFish it seems to have a couple more bits and be slightly updated since it was done last fall, mostly Bond stuff.

Laws isn't in any cinema close to where I live--yet, I hope. I haven't read many German reviews yet; Cinema's wasn't very enthusiastic. They are apparently still trying to diss PB at every opportunity. But the one in my local nwespaper credited PB and JM for their superb acting. I can check the Bestlife article against the one you have up and translate the additional bits. I just can't promise when I'll get to that. So don't hold your breath.

If the movie is opening that small in a country where American/English romantic comedies traditionally do well then I don't know if it's going to get a chance to expand to a theater near you. It almost looks like they want to release it in theaters just so they can release it on DVD I've read 10-15 reviews and most say it's light charming film with good performances and most single out PB, even when they say the film isn't as good as it could be... except for Cinema of course.
