Just when you thought you had seen everything in the world produced about "Remington Steele" something comes along that just makes you so excited you simply can't keep it to yourself. I had one of those moments over the weekend when I discovered a video and nearly went into heart failure. To my absolute delight, I was given permission to copy it and I've decided to share a piece or two with you. The entire tape consists of a little more than 15 minutes, but if you stop off at Stephanie's website, you'll see the first installment of the only outtakes and bloopers known to be in existence from the series. For once, something escaped from Gareth Davies' sight...Thank God!!! Oh, and check out the "Vintage Zimbalist" clip too. Stephanie picked it out herself and it offers a glimpse that few people have ever seen. Enjoy! Judith www.stephaniezimbalist.net/intro.html

I always thought that walking across the couch bit screamed Groucho Marx, but I didn't know how much and to who else. Thanks Judith!

All in good time, or as Mr. Steele would say, "What's life without a little mystery?"
The second installment is now available and not only are there bloopers, but a few extra words that weren't in the script at all!

This week's installment of "Steele Hidden Treasures" features six minutes of shooting. This is the prelude to the invitation to "sleep your way to the top." These clips will give you a view at the inner workings of the filming of a scene. It features everyone from various angles and individual voices. These will be a treat for Stephanie's and Pierce's fans alike. Also, "Vintage Zimbalist" features the uncut footage of "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes" before Dick Clark and Ed McMahon did their voiceovers. It's a little over eight minutes. Hope you enjoy them! www.stephaniezimbalist.net/intro.html

I've put the entire video of the outtakes and bloopers on Stephanie's site. Hope you enjoy them. It's under the "Vintage Zimbalist" installment. The link in my message above is still correct.

Thanks Judith. The office scene from Steele Hanging is is a great example of how many takes from different camera angles one scene needs even when no one makes a mistake. The precision of matching up vocals and physical mannerisms and movements over and over again in short turn arounds and retaining the energy and performance really shows some of the different skills needed for a TV and film performance as opposed to theater.

Yes, well, we know all that,eh? But, I would bet one of those takes was the result of PB saying, "Hang on! I don't think my shirt's unbuttoned quite far enough." [someone from wardrobe goes rushing in] There, that's better. Carry on."

But then to match continuity they'd have to 10 more - some things aren't worth exhibitionism. Though I could see the director calling in wardrobe to do just that from the start - especially considering this script.

Yes, well an ounce (or an inch or two) of audience distraction is worth a lot in series television, LOL! I can see Pierce leaning over to all of them and saying, "you're slipping, you're slipping."

Great stuff. I love the one on the beach when Tony is asking Laura why Keyes thinks the marriage is phony: Laura: It doesn't matter what Keyes thought...........because he was BALD. ;D I also like the one on the bed, when they roll off and start laughing, and I do believe Ms Zimbalist said a naughty word. Too funny. Thanks for sharing.

She did indeed and it came out because she slammed her head on the end table AND Pierce landed on her. If you have headphones on at the time you're watching the clip, you can also hear him ask if she's okay.

Hmmmm, I'll have to dig out my headphones. It did appear to be a rough fall and everything around them seemed to rattle. They did not go done smoothly.

Don't bother. I've taken them down and replaced them with one of Steph's old interviews. Haven't decided if I'm going to put them back out yet, so for now, they've been retired.
