Today Remington Steele is celebrating its 25th birthday. (I know I stole somebody else's balloons. Sorry. I didn't have time to search for a good picture. I'll see if tonight I have time for something else.)

How quiet... Everyone must be busy celebrating, and only Ace and I have no life of our own... To celebrate this joyous occasion I did what I should have done a while ago, when Krista kindly sent me copies of the old PB Chronicles so that I scanned them and put them up on my website. And I really intend to do it. Some day. Quoting Laura, "Soon, Mildred, soon." And when I update my site, I'll even add a link to these files. But for now, here is the first installment. (It's still October 1 in my time zone!) remingtonzeal.t35.com/PBFC/TOC.htmlUnfortunately, I really didn't have enough time today to make those files look nicer. I know there are a few formatting errors I need to correct. I probably missed some addresses I intended to remove. If I missed something serious, please, feel free to let me know, however, I will double-check those files myself again. Enjoy!

Oooh neat! The Auburn 1956 answer is either a typo or he's off by two decades. I'm shocked he now goes to private Paul McCartney concerts - but when you're a friend of the family I guess tastes change. (like giving up the cigarettes ;D ) This answer always cracks me up: Q. Do you like to dance? A. Well, once I get going, I'm a right little raver actually; but it takes a few martinis to get me going. And like his counterpart he too has played polo with Prince Charles.

Hi, I'm from Italy (I didn't know where introduce myself ) and I would thank you for this gift. Now I know what is the medallion he wears in RS, I kept wondering all the series long! ;D Do you know if someone provided an explication for it in some RS fanfinction?

Hi Laurelin and welcome! You can jump in anywhere and just say hi, just like you've done. We're pretty informal and we don't bite. Hmm, good question. I don't think I've read any fan fiction where the medallion was explained I think almost all the jewelry he wore on the show was his own. If you're also wondering, the ring on his pinky is called a Russian Wedding Ring (though it really isn't a wedding ring) and he wore it on the show because he couldn't wear his real wedding ring. I believe Cassie had a matching one she wore as well. There's a more specific explanation on Yuliya's Remington Zeal site.

Welcome, Laurelin! Yes, the information I have is right here - remingtonzeal.t35.com/RSDossier.html#JewelryActually, I think here might have been a fanfic that said something about the medallion, but maybe it only seems so because I thing there is already a story about every object of interest found in RS. By the way, I forgot to mention there are photographs in every issue of PB Chronicles, but as I have a xeroxed copy, they wouldn't scan well. I'll try with different resolution, but if anyone has better scans of the same pictures, even if they don't come from the letters, I'd greatly appreciate them.

Hi, Xcully, so I mustered my courage eventually, as you can see Thanks from me, too! WOW, I never realized how much experienced is our Steele: a bit too much, perhaps, for someone so young?

I added photographs to the first letter. Better scans will be greatly appreciated, though.

Good heavens, I missed Mr. Steele's anniversary! Shame on me, especially since we share the same year of birth (Steele's, not Pierce's ). Lovely site update, Yuliya! I've bookmarked it for later perusal.

Thanks for posting this installment, YS. Don't stop. It's fun to get re-acquainted with what was on the future SMA's radar at the time. I didn't belong to the fan club then, actually I don't belong to the current Pierce one, either.. (Is it safe to admit that here? LOL!) What delights have I been missing, I wonder? I remember coming across another quote about polo in interview of PB, don't remember where or when. He says in effect that he didn't think he could ever master it, didn't have the extraordinary level of balance required. I could second that, in the worst way, having sometimes fallen off horses by just riding them.

He says here it takes at least 17 years (wonder how he came about that number) to truly be good at polo and I gather he did not feel like devoting his life to it. I think he made the right life choice as far as careers. Hmm, you miss access to some very pretty wallpaper, being able to get a gorgeous glossy photo with (autopen) signature for postage, and nifty postcards when his films come out (though some members say they have never received postcards). I have received e-mails when movies came out or when they put up a movie related personal photo album. There have never been any postcards for me, though of course it's understandable that they wouldn't send postcards to every corner of the world. And surely it prevented some hyperventilating by the postbox on my part.

I think your postbox is quite safe, though you're not missing out on much. (Not to say I'm not enjoying them. ) Those postcards are just 10x15cm with a movie poster on one side and (if I remember correctly) the same message you received in the email on the other side, and they often arrive with spots and blotches courtesy of US Postal Serivce.

I've just seen the back of the matador postcard, is the fan club the free one you join registering on Pierce website? If so, I've never received any postcard, any e-mails and the glossy photo neither.

The fan club is free. Postcards are only mailed to US residents probably for cost and because they coincide when the film opens here. I'd assumed everyone got e-mails because sorting out who lived in the U.S. and who didn't didn't much matter for free e-mails. As Sparkling said she gets hers and she's in Germany. Maybe they were accidentally tagged as spam by your e-mail, mine did that and so I didn't get the rare PB.com updates. I had to change the spam setting on them. If you want a photo you have to send a self addressed stamp photo sized envelope (around 9 x 11) to the address they have listed, and if it's international then one with I think with international coupons. Directions are given on his website in the fan club section.
