The book will be released worldwide as soon as I give the okay, which for those of you waiting on the paperback version, will be on Monday, August 13th. I just want to make absolutely sure that the hardcovers are in the hands of their owners before the book goes out for retail sales.
Otherwise, it can be ordered from Bear Manor Media. If you choose to wait, it will be on Amazon, Barnes & Noble.com, Borders, WH Smith and an assortment of other retailers worldwide.

Hello everyone. I wanted to give you an idea of how things are going to work tomorrow regarding the shipping on the books. From 10:00AM to whenever I’m finished, I will be sending out individual e-mails to those of you waiting on a hardcover copy. The email will include a tracking number for your package. When I’ve finished the e-mails, I’m hoping my oldest sister will be here by then with her Chevy Suburban so they can be taken to DHL in one trip instead of four or five with a normal car. I will then post a message letting you know that they have been dropped off with DHL. Now, for the past few months, DHL has been quite bad about updating their website’s information so if the number doesn’t appear on their site for the first day or two, don’t worry about it. That doesn’t mean the book isn’t on its way, it just means they haven’t updated their system. Case and point: I had three packages go out on the same day to different locations. All three had tracking numbers but only one number showed up on DHL’s website until a week later and AFTER all three had been delivered. There is no delivery on the weekend so the book probably won’t be delivered until Monday or Tuesday. For those of you living outside of the U.S. please remember that it takes up to three days after the package clears customs for it to be delivered. If any of you have not received the book by Friday, August 10th, then I definitely want to hear from you because DHL will need to have exact locations of your shipment. Please keep in mind that I won’t be answering any messages tomorrow until after the individual emails have been sent and the books are sitting at DHL.
That said, I want to apologize once more for the wait you all endured and I also want to take one more moment to thank you for your patience, encouragement and support throughout this project. The final piece came out at 88,406 words and 1,402 photos and each copy weighs in at just over six pounds. I hope you’ll all enjoy reading the book as much as I did writing it and if not, you’ll have your very own “Remington Steele” doorstop – LOL!
Until tomorrow!
Judy

My book arrived on Tuesday morning. What a treat! I must say I was thrilled with the enclosed card. I won't ruin the surprise for those who haven't gotten their books yet, but it's nice to know the cast members are still alive and kicking! Thanks so much. More later as I really dig into it.

Morning all – I’ve gotten a few messages from some of you who have received their book regarding the discs that went with them not playing in the DVD decks. There’s a good reason for that. They’re NOT DVDs. They are CDs and will not function in a DVD deck (unless on a computer of course, but not in DVD mode). The first disc contains the Wall of Fame and an assortment of other photos and the second disc has 26 scripts on it. The only item that went out as a DVD was Debra Talley’s music video collection on a disc titled “Classic Steele” and only to those people who had specifically requested a copy from Debra, which she forwarded to me to create the discs and send out with the books. The CDs (at least the one labeled “Steele In Pictures”) have quite a bit of high-resolution material on them and may take a little while to fully load on older machines. If you definitely can’t get them to run, let me know and I send a replacement, but I checked them all before sending them out so they shouldn’t be having problems. Have a great afternoon!

Hi Judith:
I just got my book and I must say that I am stunned by it! I can not imagine all the hard work you must have put into it. I thought I was a hard core RS fan, but you my dear take the cake!
Thanks for making it a lot easier me to explain to my future children who Remington Steele is.

Thank you Barbara, but I had the wonderful benefit of having the cast and crew whispering little items into my ear and messages in my e-mail inbox nearly every day. Not to mention, the "real Mr. Steele" a.k.a. Michael Gleason and his wife Jan have become two of my dearest friends. When you've got both of the men who created the series as well as the former VP of MTM spoon-feeding you information, you certainly don't turn them down...LOL!

I'm sure having all these people still living helped enormously because you could go straight to them for information and reminiscing. My CDs work beautifully. Loved looking over those old scripts, including the PILOT. They were actually written on typewriters! The difference between typewriter and computer is striking (pun intended). The pictures are great, but only one of James Read and none of Jack and Janet? Too bad. At least they made it into the book. Love that so many photos are included in the book but saddened that the quality is poor on so many of them. Sure wish you had contacted me for photos of Stephanie at the Tennessee Williams Fest 2006. I have much better ones than the one used in the book. There is so much information! Love that you included the earliest treatment for RS. Super. In the picture of Doris receiving her Emmy on the CD, is that Efrem Zimbalist standing behind her? I skimmed the book, looked at many of the pictures, and read a few things out of order, so now I have to go back and read it straight through, cover to cover. I think it's great that you used many "then and now" location pictures. Thanks a bunch.

Unfortunately, the printing company didn't do the photos justice, they darkened and half-toned nearly all of the episode guide, which definitely doesn't please me, but fear not! They'll all be on the new "Steele" website in a few days and you'll be able to view them in their full glory. I wish I had known you had better shots of Steph at the TW Festival. I NEED THOSE PLEASE! I had to take the last one from a very blurred and jumping video.
According to Michael, there was only one photo taken of Janet during the entire time she was on. He didn't have the shot and in fact, the group shot of the cast and crew taken during Season One (in the third chapter), she refused to be in. Again, the one of James is the only one Michael had in any type of good resolution.
That is indeed Efrem behind Doris. He was the person who presented her with that Emmy. Small world isn't it?

Hi, I'm a newbie here I'm an italian fan from the 80's an I'd like to know if it's possible to buy your incredible book on internet and where! In Italy to be a fan of RS it's so difficult....there isn't anything on it....no dvds, no books, sometimes the reruns on tv but never the all serie! It's a pity! Sorry for my english

I'm just re-reading this thread and don't think I sent you the pictures I have of Stephanie from the Tennessee Williams Fest 2006, did I? I was sidetracked by family issues. I'm just now trying to catch up with the message board. I'll sent the pictures out sometime soon.

Oh yeah, I gotta send those pictures!!
I've looked through the book and didn't find the answer to my question:
How many Rabbits were injured or killed during the making of Remington Steele?
Same for the Auburns?
I mean, I can't see them doing all the things they did to the main Auburn! Or to the Rabbit either!
Also, in Steele of Approval, near the beginning, when Stephanie is shot at (the killer was paid to miss), a bullet goes through her back window, but the window was glass and it shattered! Full convertibles do not have glass for their rear windows, because glass doesn't fold down. ;D

Judith, I just got my soft cover copy of your book, you made a remarkable job. Pity for the black and white pictures, are the hard cover ones, by chance, in color? Paola.

The hard cover books only have color photos on the cover. The photos inside are all in black and white. So I think the only difference is hard cover vs. soft cover.

Thanks for the compliment Paola. With the book being as big as it is, putting it out in full color would have cost everyone including the printing company a small fortune. When the new "Remington Steele" site launches there will be a ton of color material (including the photos that are in the book). It's going to be a little while before the new site launches because I'm waiting for Fox to tell me when Michael's new book is scheduled for release.
