I re-uploaded this so I thought I'd put it in it's own topic Here's a link to a 10MB/47min mp3 of Pierce's License To Steele commentary with Gleason on SendSpace. Updated Link (3/13): www.mediafire.com/?pq670q6165l335h

So what are your thoughts on the commentary? Anything you liked or were surprised to find out?
It's sad that so very few actors take the time to watch the episode they are supposed to comment on before they do the actual commentary.

I think Pierce's commentary was quite charming, in his usual humorous self deprecating style.
No one on the RS commentaries watched the episodes beforehand and even those that write them didn't remember the plots. FOX didn't give the producer, directors, writers or actors episodes to watch beforehand. Most of the commentaries, especially those with several speakers tended to be more conversational and general than episode specific.

What is SendSpace? Why did they do this commentary? This isn't the one on the DVD. Interesting. They said it was 2005, which was the year the Season One DVDs came out. Most/many people who do commentaries don't watch the episode before doing the commentaries. I watched/listened to one last night where the actor hadn't seen the episode and there were long silent pauses through most of it. sigh Pierce said he was 26 in License. Twenty-six? In February, 1982? I don't think so. More like 28 pushing 29, pushing it off a cliff. Love the talk about the gun. Where are the bullets? Pack a rod. A rod? Funny stuff. Pierce and Gleason giggle through the scene. PB said he sounds "so English". They talked about PB cutting off his hair after Nomads. Pierce has become more Americanized!! Not like any American I know. And he said he looks like his son Sean. I want to see Sean! ;D A yellow Dodge Dart? Oh my. I'll have to listen again while watching the episode. It would be so much more fun to actually see what they're commenting about - not that I don't already know, but, you know........ Thanks for sharing this. Even though PB didn't do much chatting, it was good to hear his voice and to hear his opinions and other remarks.

Sendpace is just where I had uploaded the commentary. This commentary was recorded for the DVDS. It was pulled for some reason on the US ones which is why we get a Gleason /Butler repeat on License. But it was accidentally used for some of the foreign releases. LOL at Pierce not knowing his age but I think he starts at 26 then says no older (he was 28) -- it's been a long time either way. His accent and manner of speech has changed, it's more Trans Continental than Drama Centre/British Stage, it's more relaxed and less clipped and precise. Irish and American have indeed tempered it. I think you can even notice it as the show progresses, especially past Season One. My favorite parts are when's riffing on and laughing about his hair and I could have done without the information that the limo smelled (I think about that now when I watch some scenes)

Thanks for the info. Too bad it's not on our DVDs. It's great to listen to PB's comments. Yes, he manner of speaking has changed quite a bit.

GAH! this is fantastic ive only seen like 5 episodes on the internet, i just dont have the money to buy it. =[ So many things i wanna do, so little money to do them all. Do all the dvd seasons have commentary on them? If so how many does pierce do? God i feel like the kid who has to wait outside the candy store and stares thru the glass window at all the other kids!

This is the only commentary Pierce did and it's not even on the U.S. Region One discs. All the seasons have commentary and featurettes though.
Two commentaries and 3 featurettes per season. Creator Gleason has the most as a co-commentator but there's also commentary by Stephanie and Doris and several of the writers. A couple are solo, most are pairings and a threesomes.

Wow, the prices on the whole are a fraction of the cost at other sites. Though I've seen the entire season of RS sold at amazon for about $79 other price reductions are pretty hard to believe they're not bootlegs. Have you bought from them before?

Yeah, has to be bootleg (though from discs not VHS as these sets used to be) since the manufacturing is completely different - they're region free, PAL & NSTC and not on flipper discs (there are 34 discs which actually should mean better quality)). What image did they use on the discs - is it a paper label or burned in image you see on retail DVDs?

I have doubts about the authenticity of this complete set of RS DVDs. I've seen no RS DVDs packaged like this anywhere.
