Any word on when are we getting our first glimpse?
There seems to be a snippet or 2 that AMC is airing during some of their original programming. The pic of him staring at the boots (of what looks like a hanging man) supposedly aired during the finale of Hell on Wheels. I have that show set to record late this evening. So if there is footage, I hope to be able to grab it - even if it's with my phone. Stay tuned ...
Excuse the shakiness and poor quality, as I had to use my phone to capture this from my dvr. Due to AMC copy protection, I couldn't transfer it to disc. But, here is the preview that aired the other day on AMC ....
Get an Early Look at AMC’s Upcoming Original Series The Son
Based on Philipp Meyer’s acclaimed novel, the multigenerational epic will follow two concurrent time periods: One, the story of young Eli McCullough after he is kidnapped and indoctrinated into a tribe of Comanches in 1849. The other, 60 years later, when we see a grown Eli struggle to maintain his family’s cattle empire during the turbulent Bandit Wars of South Texas.
Actor Pierce Brosnan will play the role of Eli, the charismatic patriarch of the McCullough family who applies the brutal Comanche worldview to his business dealings. Born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, “The First Son of Texas” is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy.
The Son is set to premiere in 2017 with 10 one-hour episodes.

They shot a whole season in just a few weeks? Well, these guys must know what they're doing, especially if they're doing a period piece.
Before Pierce went off to London to shoot Final Score, he said that 5 episodes of The Son were already in the can, with 5 more to go. I don't think the whole season is done yet. A regular one hour broadcast network show takes about 7-8 days to film. Since this is for cable and they are shooting the whole season before it even airs, and production values are pretty high, I would guess that it may take 8-10 days to shoot an episode. So he's still shooting in Austin for a little while longer. I think they do the table reads once they have a script, but that doesn't mean they are ready to shoot what they read.
