The dance performance by Pierce looks a little funny.
But I am looking forward to the movie. Find the development of the character very exciting, after all, wanted to commit suicide all
And - I Love the Argly Socks from Pierce ;-)

www.scotsman.com/what-s-on/film/glasgow-film-festival-unveils-2014-programme-1-3277059Glasgow Film Festival unveils 2014 programme by BRIAN FERGUSON Published on the 21 January 2014 GLASGOW Film Festival will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with its largest ever programme including big-name premieres, cross-overs with the city’s music and art scenes, and one-off screenings in a host of unique locations. Hotly-anticipated new films with Scarlett Johansson, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Toni Colette, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Caine, Emily Watson and Tom Hardy have been confirmed for the 10-day event, which is expected to attract more than 40,000 film fans for the first time. More venues than ever before are being deployed across the city, including Kelvingrove art gallery, the city’s Central Station, a former glue factory set to be transformed into a giant amusement arcade, and the Glasgow Film Theatre, which will be staging a spectacular Frankenstein-themed fancy dress bash at Kelvingrove to mark its own 40th birthday. Organisers said the event, believed to be the UK’s third biggest film festival with more than 350 events, was now established as “the home of pop-up cinema” and insisted it would remain true to its roots as an “access-all-areas” event where paying punters are treated as VIPs. Average ticket prices are only £8.50, with a special “festival for a fiver” strand and a host of free events. Other special events will be held at the new Glasgow School of Art complex near the GFT, the Old Fruitmarket, the city’s old fishmarket at the Briggait, the city’s Chinatown district, and its most famous park, Glasgow Green. The festival will open with Wes Anderson’s star-studded comedy drama The Grand Budapest Hotel and close with Under the Skin, shot in Glasgow and the Highlands, in which Scarlett Johansson plays an alien femme fatale. Glasgow director David Mackenzie’s new prison drama film Starred Up, which wowed critics at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, will be shown along with a new biopic of Mary Queen of Scots and a new film created by visual artist Rachel Maclean for the event. Other significant coups for the event include screening of the latest Nick Hornby film adaptation A Long Way Down, starring Pierce Brosnan and Toni Colette; The Book Thief, the much-anticipated Holocaust film starring Emily Watson and Geoffrey Rush; and Half of a Yellow Sun, the latest movie starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, who has been nominated for an Oscar for 12 Years a Slave. www.glasgowfilm.org/festivalGlasgow Film Festival 2014 will run from 20 February - 2 March. Tickets go on sale on Friday 24 January. A Long Way Down: Feb 21 & 22

outnow.ch/Movies/2014/LongWayDown/Reviews/kino/OUT.Now Review
4 & 1/2 out of 6 starsA Long Way Down (2014) Oder: Turmspringen verschoben! A Long Way Down "Du warst doch mal James Bond, stimmt's?" [Google Translation]A Long Way Down (2014) Or: Diving moved! A Long Way Down "You were times James Bond, right?" Martin Sharp (Pierce Brosnan) has had enough of life. After the television celebrity was due to sexual acts with a minor in jail, was left by his wife and humiliated by the media, he tried to take his own life in the New Year's Eve. On the roof of a London tower block but it turns out that he is not alone with the strange intent. A Long Way Down He meets the single mother Maureen (Toni Collette), the musician JJ (Aaron Paul) and the completely wacky Jess (Imogen Poots), who, like him want to draw a line for different reasons. Instead of jumping in the quartet to his death, the four Disillusioned by the situation get are so perplexed that they together spend an eventful night and the next morning make a pact: Taking place in six weeks Valentine's Day is the new suicide date, and until then brings no one order. Movie rating Nick Hornby is one of the most important representatives of pop literature. From the pen of the British writer derived works such as High Fidelity or About a Boy, which were made into successful films such as three other novels. Hornby's books are about everyday things. While in Fever Pitch , the love of the sport, in high fidelity music and in About a Boy were interpersonal relationships in the foreground, he wrote in A Long Way Down on the subject of suicide and the equally packed with humor and seriousness of the required track. With the help of screenwriter Jack Thorne ( Skins ), it has now director Pascal Chaumeil ( Un plan Parfait ) ventured to the suicide of the British novel and highly entertaining adapted it with familiar faces on the big screen. Of course, the original book is the perfect base for this unusual comedy. The plot is strong and can also profound thoughts. Direct, funny and without much kitsch factor it creates Chaumeil that bring four superficially different, but yet so human-like figures closer to the viewer and to convey an understanding of their actions. Another reason for the simple inclusion of the audience in the per se but very serious issue is the refined choice of actor. Ex-007 Pierce Brosnan leaves an uncharacteristically loose impression and makes it seem as if he had found in suicidal B celebrity and leader of the quartet Martin Sharp a new favorite role. Toni Collette, who already in About a Boy was involved, brings out from her shy and conservative Maureen lot. Even the occasional overacting fits well with the British sense of humor and takes their sad fate something the emotional power. The lovely Londoner Imogen Poots ( Filth ) establish and mischievous at the same time vulnerable. As Jess, it provides turbulence. Your jokes are politically and morally incorrect, their behavior frequently questionable and their occurrence used to. The actual calming influence of the film is Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul. From the outside being a musician JJ is a tough guy who speaks little and hardly shows emotions. Inwardly, he is a melancholy dreamer who takes life too seriously and thus does not get along. A foursome, who has it all: Hornby's characters are great and Chaumeils unobtrusive staging leaves them enough room to develop. Conclusion:. Four figures and four destinies that we may get to know a little peculiar, but varied type A Long Way Down is like living no motley amusement park, but no hard resting, sad ballad. Pascal Chaumeils book adaptation is a versatile, cute and very likable film with a proper British touch. ========================= Uninspiring German poster www.facebook.com/ALWDfilm

Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (Feb 13-24, 2014) www.jdiff.com/index.php/festival-2014/movie/a_long_way_down/Venue: Cineworld Sun 16th Feb 2014 8:00PM Disgraced chat show host Martin Sharp (Pierce Brosnan) knows he’s reached rock bottom one New Year’s Eve when he finds himself standing on the roof of London’s premier suicide spot. But his efforts to end it all are thwarted by the arrival of a motley crew of fellow suicides, including JJ (Aaron Paul), a failed rock star with terminal cancer; Jess (Imogen Poots), an MP’s neglected daughter; and single mother Maureen (Toni Collette), struggling to care for her severely disabled son. The foursome make a pact not to kill themselves before Valentine’s Day, but when the media get wind of the story, they find themselves forming the unlikeliest of support groups. Director Pascal Chaumeil (Heartbreaker) brings a delightful vein of gallows humour to this unflinching – and ultimately uplifting – tale about finding reasons to live, adapted from Nick Hornby’s best-selling novel. Toni Collette is touching as downtrodden Maureen and Imogen Poots is on scene-stealing form as the sharp-tongued Jess, but it’s Brosnan’s turn as the washed-up Sharp, whose desperation is thinly concealed beneath a layer of urbanity and charm, that lends the film its smart and steely edge.

www.viewfrompublishing.co.uk/news_view/30039/7/1/bridport-top-author-lined-up-for-film-festival23rd January 2014 BRIDPORT: Top author lined up for film festival BEST-SELLING author Nick Hornby will be coming to Bridport in April as part of the town’s annual film festival. The writer has been added to the line-up of this year’s From Page To Screen event, the UK’s only film festival dedicated to the adaptation of books into films, which is taking place between Wednesday, April 2nd and Sunday, April 6th. Mr Hornby, whose novels Fever Pitch, High Fidelity and About A Boy were all transferred to the big screen, will be appearing on stage ‘in conversation’ with Jon Ronson, guest curator of the 2014 event. Mr Ronson is a journalist, documentary filmmaker and non-fiction author of books, including The Men Who Stare At Goats. He said: “Nick and I have had lots of conversations over the years about the ups and downs of adapting things for the screen. “In fact Nick’s advice is always ringing in my ears when I deal with movie people, so I’m especially glad that he's going to be at From Page To Screen.” Mr Hornby is an Academy Award nominated screenwriter for his adaptation of Lynn Barber’s memoir, An Education. Their conversation will be followed by a screening of A Long Way Down, an adaptation of Hornby’s 2005 novel. The Pascal Chaumeil-directed film has a stellar cast including Pierce Brosnan, Sam Neill, Toni Collette and Rosamund Pike. The plot focuses on four strangers who meet at the top of a London skyscraper on New Year's Eve, all planning to throw themselves off. They end up making a pact to stay alive at least until Valentine’s Day and the bond begins to change their lives. Polly Gifford, director of Bridport Arts Centre, said: “We are so excited to confirm that Nick Hornby will be at this year’s From Page to Screen festival. “He has been on both sides of the adaptation process and A Long Way Down will be his fourth novel to be made into a film. We can’t wait to welcome him to Bridport.” Bridport Arts Centre, in collaboration with the Electric Palace, will show a number of films across the two venues. Most screenings will feature a talk by authors or filmmakers, giving audiences the chance to go beneath the surface of their favourite films. From Page To Screen was founded in 2009 by Bridport Arts Centre, inspired by the Bridport Prize, one of the UK’s longest running and respected literary prizes.
